But she says they will honor the Groupon through the end of the year. Ok, fine with us. August - Called and left a message to book a session on September. After no response in one week, I called and left a message AND an email to follow up. Finally got an email three days later saying she just got back from a horseshow competition. She says ok, we can schedule your session in September. I email her back immediately because I want to schedule lesson #2 because she is difficult to get a hold of. September - I email to confirm our lesson #1 date. She replies and says, "I'm sorry, we don't have you scheduled on that date. I thought it was last week. But hey, there's an opening tomorrow for your 2nd lesson". I want to cry. End of September - We email Bethe saying we give up and call Groupon to get a refund. Outcomes: a. I now question Groupon's quality of vendors. b. My friend and I really let our group of friends down with all the back and forth of scheduling rides. Made us look incompetent. c. I really wanted to go horseback riding but now am afraid to go near this place and meet with Bethe in person for fear of more disappointment.

I recently spent 6 months in the area and took lessons with Maaike - she was absolutely incredible!…read moreFrom the very first lesson, I felt welcomed and supported. Maaike is not only super friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable, with a deep passion for horses and helping riders of all levels improve at the pace and style of learning that is right for them. As someone who had taken lessons as a child but not ridden in 20+ years, I was matched with her lesson horses, which were the sweetest, most patient horses you could imagine. The bar is now very high for the future horses in my life! Her style of teaching, way she explains things, and how she structures the lessons is awesome. I gained so much more confidence in the saddle and reaffirmed my love of riding. I looked forward to being challenged every lesson and having those breakthrough moments of conquering something new. Safety is obviously top priority with riding, and I always felt completely at ease in Maaike's care. She has an incredible ability to read each horse's temperament and energy, and if she ever sensed that one might be having an off morning, she'd quickly adjust to make sure you were set up for a great ride. Watching her work with more experienced riders on their own horses, it's clear that her expertise is respected by everyone at the barn, and her clients and their families adore her. The barn itself is beautiful and well-kept, and the community of riders there is warm and welcoming. It's a place where people genuinely love their horses and the time they spend with them. Since moving away, I honestly miss my rides with Maaike so much, and I'm looking forward to visiting again in the future. I honestly can't recommend her enough!

We signed our boys up for riding lessons about 6 - 8 months ago…read more I wasn't sure how things were going to go (meaning if my boys were going to be in it for the long haul or get 'tired' after the shine wore off of a new adventure). Kimmie and the other folks at the stables are extremely helpful - answered all my questions - we were invited to book a day (for our family) to "try it out" and get a feel for the lessons, the facilities, the people. It was really awesome and gave us all a very good idea of what to expect and what was expected of us as learners. Fast forward - my kid is getting ready to go to his lesson today. He is so excited! His confidence has improved. He has a deep desire to really learn and further his horsemanship abilities. He shares what he has learned, what he was able to do (after lots of practice), and how that made him feel really great! If you are looking for a stable whose owner has impeccable integrity, a desire to really work with people and horses (together). Look no further.

Yeah, don't go here…read more Your instructions will be teenagers (not even 18-19, like 16-17 year olds). You can pay less than $100 for 3 hours... but about 45 minuted of that is riding. The other ~2 hours? Free manual labour. You pay to turn out and lunge other peoples horses for 2+ hours. The teenagers teach, train, and do barn chores and care for all the horses. Honestly if these lessons were discounted it would be better, but they're $100+ for lessons. For the teenage instructors. It is honestly ridiculous. These horses aren't abused, this is a pretty ethical riding facility other than the kids continuously instructing other kids and getting paid to do manual labour. Turnout and pasture during summer. The stalls can get pretty filthy and according to my daughter, the only "scheduled" cleaning of stalls was the 2 hours of labour the teenagers did. Again, she was only there on Saturdays, so she didn't see everything. I would NOT take training or lessons here.

That's what I loved most about her program-- she truly personalizes her lessons to fit your progress. One of her best skills is that she is acutely in tune with your form, comfort level, and confidence. She is so good at understanding how the human body interacts with the horse so when you're learning the fundamentals, you're learning it from an almost anatomical perspective. I originally started out at a different equestrian center but the instructor there made me feel anxious and unsure every time. I carried a lot of that over to Julie's lessons where I had to unlearn a lot of bad habits. In my almost year of riding under her guidance, I've learned proper techniques and gained back my confidence. Julie has the innate ability to make you feel safe and secure when riding. I love that she teaches to build confidence so you can master the technical skills. If you are ever thinking about horseback riding but scared to try it, get a lesson with Julie.
