COOKING CLASS REVIEW ONLY:…read more : ( Sharing the cooking amongst four people is a disappointing experience. Not nearly enough hands-on work for the student (Suggestion: Give people the option to cook as a twosome for a higher fee). : ( Upon entering the kitchen we found our name tags and introduced ourselves to the instructor. When we asked "what is your name?" ...we were told "I will tell you my name later whenever everyone arrives because I have a big 'shpeel' to deliver and I don't want to repeat myself.' (Suggestion: Try to make your clients feel welcomed by saying 'My name is....) : ( Too much of the cooking is not done by the students; even a simple two-ingredient step in the recipe was not done by us but was done by the instructor?! We had to gather around and watch this very simple thing (Suggestion: Let the student do a bit more). : ( Somewhat difficult to hear instructor with exhaust fans and classroom noise. : ) Food was good to eat : ) Having all the raw ingredients set up and measured Maybe if you have friends that want to drink wine (BYOB) and watch you cook ...this maybe a good fit for you.

The reason I state semi is that…read morewhile they do have a good amount of specialty items, there are also a good amount of gaps, especially if looking for specific items. While at first the prices may seem high, the items they are selling are high quality and prices are in fact fairly typical for what they have in store. Now one thing that was surprising, typically when stores sell their own branded items, they are cheaper, however here it seemed to be the opposite with many items. The staff were friendly, but not the most knowledgeable. They were definitely trying to help, but at the same time they appeared to be incredibly busy, even though the store was mostly empty, running back and forth from the back grabbing items and helping customers pickup items before being able to help out others.

This used to be a wonderful place to take my daughter for summer camps and teacher workday camps…read more She started at Flour Power when she was about 2-1/2 in the classes they had for littles, then started going there for camps when she started school and she's 13 now. This year things have really changed there for the worse...there are WAY too many kids in the space and almost the entire staff turned over. I've been debating about no longer going there after this summer is over, and this morning was the last straw. I dropped my daughter off and there were 2-3 staff people in the front kitchen and NO ONE acknowledged us or greeted my daughter. This is really sad and insulting. I realize the staff were busy but nothing should stand in the way of greeting a customer and making them feel welcomed if you want them to return. If they don't realize someone is coming in because there is too much chaos, maybe they need to tie bells on the door.

The studio is very colorful with lots of decor and several tables and chairs in the front of the business. Aprons are also provided. I heard about the adult chef series from the owner Debbie at the north hills block party. She was really nice and excited about this event. At the chef series event she told us that they had just started the adult cooking classes about 6 months ago and that they are so much fun. For today's event they had a special food and wine pairing with Total Wine. The Wine Steward, Nathaniel, recommended certain wines that would go well with the items that we prepared this evening. He was very knowledgeable and funny. He also gave us coupons for future purchases at Total Wine. This was my first times at a cooking studio so I thought that each person or group that came together would prepare all of the recipes but each table ended up making one of the 3 recipes. This ended up working out well because the two hours would not have been long enough for everyone to do all of the recipes. Our table ended up making the southern cornbread but since it was a quick recipe we also assisted with the Butternut Squash/Apple & Pear Soup. The last table made the Spicy White Bean Chicken Chili. The food was really good and filling. I thought that the chili was going to be really spicy because it had green chili peppers but it had the perfect amount of heat. I didn't know what to expect from the soup but it had great flavor. The cornbread was not bad but our table thought that it was missing something. The butter that was provided helped. The wine tasting occurred while our food was cooking. It started off well but then when a few of us left to finish the soup we never really got back on track with it. I enjoyed hearing Debbie tell us about the past and future adult chef series classes and the children's classes. We also enjoyed being able to meet and interact with so many cool people at our table. Debbie and her staff were very helpful providing us with utensils, drinks, directions, etc. We had a great time!

I was fortunate…read moreto attend a dinner party catered by Jay at the home of a colleague, and was blown away by the experience. From the first cocktail to the last bite of dessert (paired with specific bourbons), the food, presentation, and Jay himself were just perfect. I only wish I lived in town so I could use him for my own parties! If you're looking for catering or a hands off top notch dining experience in your own home, Magnificent Meals Raleigh will not disappoint!

Jason and his team were so professional, family friendly, and so easy to work with! From the beginning, middle, to the end I was communicated with and able to make changes or substitutions as need. Jason helped put together a few options for different menus to choose from and then we went from there to create the best food experience ever. Jason and his team made sure everything was taken care of from the menus to decor. The apps and deserts options were always full and ready to be shared (while we worked on demolishing them). Jason even accommodated specific food requests and entrees (Kids and last minute menu changes). They kept our space so clean and left our kitchen better than they found it. I would recommend Jason and his team for any event and will definitely be having them back so we can enjoy this experience again!

Okay, so it's been four whole years since our wedding, but honestly, the memories of the food and…read moreservice are still crystal clear - and still make our mouths water! We seriously hit the jackpot with Catering Works. They absolutely crushed it and made our big day even more perfect. Let's talk about the food first - it was beyond perfect. We had 4 passed horderves during cocktail hour, all delicious, especially the duck corn cake. A server came out to us and our bridal party with a tray for us to nibble (plus our signature cocktails) while we took photos, which was truly appreciated because we never had time to eat until then. Each dinner dish/side was a winner. Like, truly restaurant-quality. Being a Maryland girl, I'm always hypercritical of crab cakes outside of Maryland , but I was truly impressed that I could have a high quality crab cake away from my roots on my wedding day. Our guests still bring up how amazing the meal was, and honestly, so do we! It wasn't just "wedding food," that has become typical at weddings. Desserts and cake? Oh. My. Goodness. They looked incredible, but tasted even better! We had a two tier cake and a mini dessert bar so we could have a variety. We had gluten free chocolate cookies (my favorite), fruit tarts, macarons, caramel bites, strawberry shortcake (husband's favorite); seriously, all the sweets were absolutely top notch. Beyond the deliciousness, the service was just phenomenal. The team was super professional, always there when you needed them, and genuinely nice. They built a plate for us so we could mingle with our guests and came back to a much needed meal. They handled everything so smoothly with my dad's alpha gal allergy and we didn't have to lift a finger. That meant we could actually relax and soak up every moment of our wedding day, which was priceless. The most meaningful part was the end of the night before we left our venue (The Meadows at Firefly Farm, highly recommend ) was the gift basket we were given full of a variety of desserts from our dessert bar, and slices of our wedding cake because we never had time to eat dessert AND a bottle of champagne. Talk about a personal touch, we were so impressed and felt truly cared for. It's pretty rare for something to leave such a strong, memorable mark after so long, but this caterer totally did. We still rave about them. If you're planning a wedding and want food that'll be talked about for years, desserts that are divine, and service that's absolutely flawless, Catering Works is where it's at. They made our wedding day foodie dreams perfect, and we're forever grateful!
