My wife and I finally got to try this place last night and were thoroughly impressed. By far the best Mexican food in the area! The modern look and general ambiance was very nice. Lots of room without getting too loud. The outside seating looked nice too. Parking in front was crowded, but it's in the same massive lot that Fred Meyers is at, so parking nearby and walking isn't bad. My wife got the watermelon margarita and they used real watermelon in the mix, plus a frozen slice as a garnish. Exquisite! I had the NA Corona; always fitting. The salsa and cold crema dip that came with the chips to start were great! We started with both guacamole and queso fundido. Both were delectable! The guac was obviously made fresh and the queso had a solid balance of cheese and chorizo. It came with soft tortillas, which was a nice change up from the chips. I got the Tracición Coyol and it was SO good. The chicken was tastefully marinaded and the shrimp tasted like it was cooked over an open flame. The pablano crema brought it all together perfectly. My wife got the Mahi Mahi tacos and she thought they were excellent. The only thing she would have added was pickled onions (which she was able to add from my dish). The bite I had was very tasty. We did not stay for dessert this time, but their options sounded delicious. Service was attentive especially considering how busy it was.

Lunch. Chimichanga, guacamole and a bottle of Coke!

Very nice ambiance and great service. The food, however, was good but not great. Tried the guacamole and chimichanga with shredded beef. Both looked delicious but lacked seasoning. I just didn't get that true Mexican taste and flavor. The food is more Americanized. That might explain why so many of the diners I saw today at lunch were senior citizens who may not like spicy food. I don't know. As I said, great service and a nice feel to the restaurant plus I'm sure some higher ratings rave about the bar. But it was lunch and a long drive ahead of me so a bottle of Mexican Coke was my drink of choice.

The food is flavorless. I've been three times. I've tried tacos, enchiladas and taco salad. Not much to taste here. But the atmosphere is nice.

Hostess was amazing. We needed an alcohol wipe to sanitize skin for a diabetic injection for one of our party. She hunted wipes down for us. Margaritas were good except server couldn't describe the ingredients or the tequilas in the recipes. A bit of training would solve this. Overall the food was pretty bland. Guacamole texture was spot on, but needed some garlic salt and more jalapeños. We had a good mix of menu items. Shrimp tacos were the exception to bland. They were very tasty. Carnitas texture was perfect, but lacked flavor. Chicken Enchiladas Suisas were okay. Pork belly also mediocre. I know ties restaurant is new, but definitely needs some authenticity in the menu. Portions were good size and presentation was fair. Ambiance of store is nice. Wood plank tables with real wood chairs. Overall it was a bit disappointing, but again it's a new restaurant.

Before I even get into anything: the habanero salsa is key to the meal's completion. I hope I was charged extra for the amount I consumed. It was worth it. My innards will burn for 48hrs. We arrived 530p, escaping the 96 degree beating sun into a packed reception area. 'It will be about 15 minutes, maybe less, for a table unless you want to sit outside?' No inside please we desire the AC, I replied. We took a seat across from an obese family looking the epitome of Cali to Idaho within the month transplant: each member (apart from the teenage child) of this absolute UNIT was clad in some variation of Red/White/Blue/Punisher gear. I attempted to make eye contact with the boss hog. He stared off unflinchingly to the brightly lit bar area; probably thinking about how nice it would be to abandon his family and go back into bar. I was correct, I thought, as he did stand and asked the hostess if he could wait in the bar area. "No sir, that's also seating only" begrudgingly, he sat back down next to his family. The hostess was spot on and 10 minutes later we were sat in a tastefully designed mostly beige and wood booth. Only minutes after sitting the sweet, but large, blue rimmed glass chalices housing the margs arrived. The Serrapĩna is not spicy enough, my wife says; North Idaho spicy I think, practically lava with a quick punch of serrano at the front. We order the Oaxaca Bowl (for health) and deluxe fajitas (for the sizzle). I was shocked how quickly the food arrived. 6 minutes maybe less?!? I was, sadly, dismayed that the sizzle did not flood the table in smoke. Food was good. No complaints, crowd pleasers all around. VERY LARGE portions. I gauge a Tex-Mex resturant by the quality of their chile relleno and Coyol preformed, with the best chile relleno in CDA. Whitney, our server, was great. Positive and a go-getter. I loved the part where she demonstrated the size of an order of xangos while clearing our plates. She had to set the plates down to motion with two hands. Coyol is a great spot for a large group looking to fill themselves and have some libations. Very clean well managed with a crowd. Will need to return and try more options.

I'll consider this a partial review because I'd already had dinner so I only got to try the cucumber jalapeño margarita and the chile relleno + a few bites of others dishes. BUT from what I had it was full of flavor and honestly comparable in price to most sit down Mexican food places in town. As an add on bonus, you get the gorgeous and clean interior with great service. It reminds me of a restaurant you'd eat at on the coast of Mexico, that beachy natural interior with modern lines. Will be back for more!

Wow, Wow !! Absolutely DELICIOUS and the Service was Impeccable. Run, don't walk to Coyol. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed and saying the portions too small ‍

What can I say about Coyol. CDA is lucky to have this authentic Mexican restaurant gem. Upon entering I was greeted and seated right away. The aromas in the restaurant and the plates coming out the kitchen were all amazing. I had the parrillada for one but it was enough for at least two people. They definitely weren't shy with the portions. It was delicious but under seasoned for my liking. I also had the pork belly bites and OMG this app definitely hit the spot. Coyol will be a top mexican restaurant in CDA while the wait times are short. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

Atmosphere was nice and classy. Drinks were very good! Service was okay. The servers order on hand held kiosks so it isn't a very personable vibe. Good was decent. Portions aren't huge like some Mexican restaurants but the chips and salsa are delicious. The chips also came with another dipping sauce that was interesting. Reminded me a little of Ranch but with some spice. Overall good experience and nice atmosphere.

D: all of the above The only bad thing about this place is that it hasn't been here forever - A++++++ across the board! The pork belly was amazing, tacos were fire, margs on point! I can't say bad thing about the place, and the staff were a delight! It makes sense why it's so busy, you gotta try it

Dined here about a week ago with a friend, we both truly enjoyed it! Drinks were great and food was delicious. I had the Carnitas plate (only suggestion is the server should have asked if I wanted flour or corn ), my friend had the Birrea tacos. Both enjoyable. Atmosphere is brilliant, clean, fresh & welcoming. Server was sweet and friendly.

About the food... Some of our favorites are the Junior's Camarones, Mexican Stir-fry, Carnitas Tacos, & Lisa's Burrito. The guacamole, verde sauce & salsas are also terrific, along with the cilantro jalapeño Margarita. There's a small, dog-friendly patio out front that is frequented by a friendly neighbor kitty and a large, 21+ beer garden out back on weekend evenings in the summer. Some of the motorcycles on Cd'A Lake drive can get noisy, which may bother some. We don't hate it. It's summer in Coeur d' Alene and motorcycles are part of the fun. Now, for the bad news. Now that I've told you these 'state secrets', I'll have to.... well, you know.

Thirty-five years of living in Arizona, with virtually every regional cuisine of Mexico…read morerepresented, will spoil you for what much of the country north of the border states calls "Mexican food." My wife's home is here in Coeur d'Alene, and we have often lamented the lack of a truly good Mexican restaurant. There are certainly places serving perfectly acceptable food, but most cater heavily to American tastes. There are also a couple of more authentic taquerias, but finding a restaurant with a broader, genuinely Mexican menu has been difficult. Authenticity and popularity are not mutually exclusive. Most Mexican restaurants in the United States, including authentic ones, adapt to local tastes by offering familiar American favourites alongside traditional regional dishes. Arizona's famous El Charro in Tucson and Macayo's in Phoenix, both with deep Sonoran roots, proudly claim to have invented the chimichanga, while readily acknowledging that it is an American creation rather than an authentic Mexican dish. Nachos occupy much the same category. Their presence on the menu tells you very little about how authentic the rest of the restaurant is. The better question is whether the kitchen also prepares traditional Mexican dishes with the same care and authenticity. Today we found the closest thing to authentic northern Mexican cuisine that we've experienced in the Coeur d'Alene area: Junior's Cocina Mexicana. It would fit comfortably into the greater Phoenix restaurant scene as a solid northern Mexican restaurant, with just a slight nod and wink to American tastes. We visited at lunchtime. The lunch menu was more limited than the dinner menu but still offered a good variety, and a full dinner menu was also available. We were served complimentary corn tortilla chips with a very good house salsa. The chips were the standard thicker commercial variety rather than homemade, but they were fresh and crisp. I've had worse in Nogales and Puerto Peñasco. The salsa was excellent. I'd place it at the upper end of mild, although our server, Monty, mentioned that many customers consider it quite spicy. We also asked for the hot salsa, which uses essentially the same recipe but adds more jalapeño along with habanero peppers. To my palate it was pleasantly warm rather than truly hot, which is exactly where I like it. Too many restaurants serve chunky tomato-and-onion mixtures with the texture of pico de gallo but very little flavor or heat. Junior's salsa had a pleasant smoky flavor, a finely chopped consistency, and just the right thickness for dipping. I'd rate the salsa 4/5. My wife ordered the chile relleno, served with rice and beans. The roasted poblano was stuffed with melted cheese, probably Monterey Jack, as Oaxaca cheese is not commonly available in this area, then properly coated in an egg batter before frying. She rated it "good." Her rating scale runs from inedible, to "not bad" (which still isn't good), to good, very good, and finally the coveted "delicious." After tasting it myself, I agreed. It was enjoyable, but not exceptional. I'd give it 3/5. I chose the green pork Chile Hermanos, although I'm still not sure what the "Hermanos" (brothers) has to do with the dish. It came with rice, refried beans, a small lettuce-and-tomato salad, and tortillas. I chose corn tortillas. They were not homemade, but they had good flavor, pleasant texture, and held together well. The Chile Hermanos itself was delicious. It was milder than I expected but packed with flavor. The pork was tender and properly cooked, although it could have benefited from a little more depth and richness. The menu also offers pork carnitas at dinner, and I'll plan to try those on a future visit. The rice was light, fluffy, and flavorful rather than sticky or heavy, and the refried beans were creamy without becoming the thick, pasty mass that too often accompanies Mexican meals. I'd rate the Chile Hermanos about 3 1/2/5, with both the rice and beans earning 4/5. The restaurant itself is colorful, comfortable, and inviting, with an attractive patio. Everyone we encountered was friendly and accommodating, and Monty was an excellent, knowledgeable server who happily answered our questions and accommodated our requests. Overall, I'd give Junior's 4/5 for atmosphere and service, about 3 1/2 to 4/5 for the food, and 4/5 for value. While the menu still leans somewhat toward the American expectation of Mexican cuisine, the execution is noticeably more authentic than most restaurants in the area. We will certainly be back, and after a few more visits I may adjust some of these ratings.

It's not like in Los Angeles where you can't walk 1 mile down the street without tripping over a taco truck. That being said, I think the Mexican Food Factory (MFF) could hold it's own even in SoCal. Here are some reasons to try it; 1. Fresh ingredients. Especially the taco sauce. It tastes like it is made that morning. Seasoned but not overwhelmed with habanero or something. Delicious. Meats are not oily but still very tender and juicy. Ground beef is even juicy and tender. Did I mention the fresh taco sauce? 2. Cooking style. It's fast and made to order. Wait is short but realistic considering they are making your order as it comes in. Nothing prepared and sitting under a heat lamp ahead of time. They even toast the soft tortillas which is a huge flavor enhancer. They don't have gourmet ceviche or swordfish tacos but if you like distinct and discernable flavors in your meals it works here. 3. Small shop vibe. Cinderblock style place with an eating area outside at least as big as inside. Bright murals painted upon it. It's next to a road but traffic is slow and not too noisy. Clean as can be. Same employees in the kitchen for many months. 4. Value. If you shop around and are honest with yourself, I think you will agree that prices are not nice to us now. I don't know where else to find the quality of ingredients, speed of service, and no drama atmosphere at these prices. The daily specials are the way to try a lot of different things over time with a cost savings. Taco Tuesday crunch-fest awaits. Improvement? Yes of course. Open on the weekend please. In the name of all things Holy. We need our after church enchiladas. Also small size street tacos are needed. Radish, lime, cilantro, cotija crumbled on Lengua on a 4 inch soft tortilla. I'll take 6 of those to go down to the lake for a nice lunch. Por favor.
