DISAPPOINTING!! Some homeowners have lost a fortune! I wouldn't recommend this builder to anyone. Cachey should do the right thing and make things right with all homeowners affected. They're only tarnishing their own reputation.

We built with Cachey in 2003. The model home where they maintained their office had a sunken front…read moreporch. We initially met with Tom Cachey's Sales representative Carolyn. In the course of our discussion I expressed my concerns about the porch at that time. I asked if her if this is normal since I naturally didn't want to experience the same defect. She immediately took on a defensive demeanor acted offended that I would even ask such a question. Well guess what folks... less than 10 years after we moved in the footing cracked and my front porch (which is approximately 18' x 6' has sunk 5" with the concrete pad tiling towards the house. The crack in the footing is significant. I understand that concrete is not an exact science and settling occurs with most every house over time. What TROUBLES me the most is they have built this same model as ours at least 100 times and I would speculate that 20% or more of this model home experienced the same issue. I know of several in our subdivision alone (Bluestone Bay) that encountered the same problem. Cachey Builders knew this was a problem and yet they continued to employ the same building techniques. This is a $10,000.00 repair that I will have to absorb. Concrete will need to be broken up, the brick edging surrounding the porch, as well as my landscaping in front of the porch will have to be dug up and redone. In addition to this the concete tray at the entrance to our garage began to crumble as well. Their superintendent Bob came out and looked at it, acted preplexed as to how it could happen, Bob and Navahoe Concrete offered some half assed solutions and never came back. Oh and by the way..Navahoe Concrete is out of business. Prior to building everyone told us that Cachey Builders will take care us, yeah....they took care of us real good! . . On the whole we were pretty disapointed with how Cachey handled this. I would NOT use them as a builder.

I wanted a new patio installed, the landing of my back porch replaced (which had broken off and left a hole) and extended to match the patio, the corner of the foundation patched, the front sidewalk slab replaced (that had broken away from the front porch and broken in half), and a hole in my front porch sealed so that the critters would stop using it as nest. My new patio is amazing - better than I could have imagined! The holes in my porch (front and back) are now sealed, I don't have to look at the missing foundation corner, and I don't have to worry about critters any more. :) I am VERY pleased with the work! The 1st house was at 7725 Richardson Lane was a house of horrors after the renters who rented the property for 5 years DESTROYED IT! It was necessary to send in a hazmat crew before any renovations could begin to give you an idea of what we had to work with. I know that without Lauren Erick these 2 renovations could HAVE NEVER BEEN COMPLETED. Lauren's leadership, experience, and expertise was an invaluable part of this process. Lauren was constantly driving the process forward while very patiently explaining to me where we were on the time line, and constantly making recommendations..where the budget was, what was necessary and more importantly what WAS NOT necessary. For example...putting hardwood from the 1st floor on the stairs to the 2nd floor..."just put in carpeting..it will flow better to the 2nd floor that is carpeted...thats 2000-4000 dollars you do not need to spend" I learned very quickly that Lauren with her experience in these matters is to be listened to ALWAYS. The 2nd house that was renovated was at 8661 Ballycastle which needed significantly less improvements..however it was tight schedule that she made work so that everything was done in time for the listing Now, I haven' t even gotten around to telling you the good part yet. I HAVE NEVER MET LAUREN ERICK. I have never set foot in these properties. I don't even live in the USA. I live in Europe... all of our discussions were over the phone and whatsapp. I did ALL of this from Europe. NOW this is a testament to Lauren Erick's communication skills, and her ability to frame in your mind how the project IS going to look..what works what does not work... I self admittedly have zero visualization skills so I relied solely on her visual interpretation .
