Very small indeed but packed to the ceiling with more variety of food ware than you can imagine. If you need something from a recipe and you've never heard of it before: Mabrouk has it. The most kind and cheerfull guys are working here, working their butts off and fast as humanly possible :) The check-out line goes through the shop and is sometimes very very long (almost the whole shop) but don't you worry, you'll be next to pay in minutes. Also: do come here when your budget is low, the prices are really moderate. I would pass Mabrouk multiple times, completely oblivious of what a a gem it is. I decided to wonder on in here out of curiousity, and loved everybit of it. My eyes lit up over so many of their products. The only downer about this market, it can get real tight in here. Never the less, Mabrouk has some great products worth checking out and the majority of the items are price reasonable. Surprisingly you will also find a few gluten-free products in here as well.

Since June and July is strawberry season, I was dying to go fruit picking! Van Reeuwijk Fruit & Flowers is near Hoofdorp (about 30 minutes drives from Amsterdam) that allows you to "zelfplukken" various types of fruit - strawberries, raspberries, cherries, etc. They have a Facebook page which they update letting you know what types of fruits are available for picking. Guy C. and I arrived there a little before 11am and it was so much fun! The strawberries were €2,50 per 500g which is a reasonable price especially when you can have the joy of hand-picking each strawberry and it is the same price they charge at most markets. If you are lazy and don't want to pick them, you can also buy some for €2,75 per 500g at the store. The store also sells fruit jams, fruit cake and flowers/plants. This place does get very busy after 11am so try to arrive early. It is accessible by public transportation (bus stop right at entrance), so check 9292.nl for route directions. There is also parking available. It is a great place for kids, families and everyone else! UPDATE: I've already consumed all the strawberries I picked - they are so juicy and sweet! The food is fantastic and the quality is worth the price. It's a great place to grab a snack as your walking around town seeing the sites.

We had a hilarious guide at Rembrandt Hoeve Clogs and Cheese. This guy cracked jokes in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. He was kind of flirty, occasionally boastful, occasionally self-deprecating, and did not fail to charm.

This clog/cheese farm is run by one of the most entertaining men I've ever met in my life. Oh, and the cheese is cheap and delicious. I grabbed a huge log of smoked gouda with bacon in it (that helps make the best mac & cheese ever), and I only wish I had grabbed twelve. But then I probably would've been stopped at customs, and they would've taken all my delicious cheese.
