Went here after dinner on a rainy night. Hadn't been here in a long time so didn't know the menu or price range. The menu had a lot of options, but we didn't see any nondairy or sorbet options. There was slush. We both decided to get ice cream. I got a Sunday. It was a good size and tasted great. I don't know if they make their own ice cream or if it is a branded item but it was good. Toppings were also good and not so overwhelming you missed the ice cream. Worth the price. He got a frozen frappe mix thing. He enjoyed it and it was really thick. Soft serve was limited in flavors but the standard chocolate was fine. Definitely worth what we paid for it. I'd recommend. Some flavors are good, some are just okay. The one thing that's ALWAYS true about Cowlicks is that they are always WAY TOO SLOW! Don't expect to "just make a quick stop" here. Great ice cream stand with parking. Since it's a quick 10 min drive from my house, I go here often. I try a different flavor every time I go. They have seasonal flavors throughout the summer, my favorite is strawberry cheesecake and then pumpkin and apple pie once fall comes around. I wish they were open year round! Their soft serve flavors are vanilla, chocolate, black raspberry and then have reg twist (chocolate and vanilla) and princess twist (raspberry and vanilla). They have a bunch of soft serve mix ins flavors as well but I've never had those, someday I hope to! read more

But I just went with my family and mine was good my mom had a grape nut and it had a variety of other ice creams in it a little gross but still good. she had a small and my Dad had ordered a large and got a small they said it was a medium. I liked coming here every so often, but I would just stick to lickees and chewies ice cream nearby in Dover. The workers there were kind of rude one night. The lady in front of us got the wrong ice cream and when she told the worker, she rolled her eyes. Then they forgot about one of our family members ice cream and when we asked them about it they rolled their eyes again. When it came out they said "here you go" in an annoyed tone. Usually they're nice and they're reasonably priced and the ice cream is great. But customer service comes a long way. An upgrade in size or at least an apology for the wait would've been nice. They probably had a rough night though so you should still check it out if you're rolling by and there shouldn't be a problem. read more

We were told that their soft serve machine was out of ice cream. When we voiced our concern they only refunded us $1 and closed the window. Pleasantly surprised with this place. Our first time here and the selection was enormous for both soft serve and ice cream! The coffee chocolate chip was phenomenal. That baby mop size was the perfect portion and for two ice creams it was less than $10. Staff was polite and friendly. read more

Golick's has a noteworthy selection of flavors, which they always have in full stock, somehow crammed into a fairly small and triangular-shaped building. Their portions are good. The staff are fast and friendly. The best part is really the flavor selection. It'll take you most of the summer to try every one. Then if you beat that challenge, you should try a combination with every topping, and then you can try one of every flavor as a float or frappe. Let me know how your stomach is after that. It might hurt, but it'll be the happiest hurt you've ever had. read more

This is an ice cream stand. That's it. No hot dogs. No soft drinks. No chips. No pretzels. It is in the parking lot of the Weathervane restaurant so if you want a good meal this place has the desert for you. The variety here is outrageous. There is soft serve, hard serve, low sugar, no sugar added, ice cream for dogs and more. There's at least a hundred flavors listed on the board and they have special flavors too! They make all kinds of sundaes and banana splits and they have those large waffle cones dipped in jimmies. They also make frappes and floats. There is plenty of parking but this place can get busy. Like, really busy. Still they put their best servers on at the peak times and the people there are really friendly. They are generous too so if you want a small you need to tell them you really want them to make it small. They have napkins but you have to ask for them. They also have a portable potty but you need to ask for a key. The thing cowlicks does right is that it sticks to the basics. Cowlicks gives a decent service and a good product at a reasonable price. The prices here are comparable to any other ice cream stand. There is not much seating so you will likely eat your ice cream in the car. If they at least had soda or even bottled water this would be a five star review. But it is a nice place for a pit stop. read more

For the same reason one goes to the theater when there's plenty to watch on tv, or go to their favorite pub instead of the liquor store... FUN! Golick's serves only the absolute best ice cream in sugar cones, waffle cones, flat bottomed ice cream cups, pints, practically any way you can think of. My wife and I went today for a "cool-down" from summertime activities. She got their new Apple Crisp ice cream and I got traditional Coffee ice cream in a waffle cone. Served by a young lady named Virginia who made me feel like I was her most important customer, just as everyone who works there does each visit. I just visited Golicks for the first time since they reopened for the Summer. I try to support local businesses, but their prices must have really gone up! I paid $4.75 for a small sundae. The young clerk tried to charge me $5.75 until I said something. Did she not know the prices? Anyway Golicks is too expensive for us now. For $4.00 you can get a half gallon of pretty good ice cream at Janeto's, a much better deal! read more

What happened to the old Golicks? I haven't been here in a couple of years and suddenly the prices are through the roof! I ordered a KIDDIE size peppermint stick ice cream on a sugar cone with jimmies...and it came to $4! What??! I repeat...KIDDIE size!! And $4!!! Also, the peppermint stick had waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many peppermint candies in it (it was not what I remember it being like). I had to spit out a bunch of the candies just to find the ice cream. Gross. Oh, on the upside, i did notice they now have m&m ice cream at the Dover location - YAY! I wrote them a couple of years ago requesting it...and they listened! :) Hopefully they will read this and listen again re the price and the peppermint overload... The ice cream is very good. I've gone here several times over the past few years and can recommend getting almost anything on the menu. The Mint Explosion is exactly what you expect but very well done. The Princess Twist is an interesting soft serve raspberry. However if you go you need to order the Java Jazz shake. It's the same price as any other shake but has coffee blended into your choice in ice cream. The Java Jazz with coffee is better than anything you can get at a designated coffee shop. read more

Cowlick's is one our favorite ice cream places. They serve 2/3 hard serve and 1/3 soft serve. They have dole whip too. I was there for their last day - BOGO day. I got 4 quarts of: pumpkin, Cookie Monster, southern peach, and grapenut hard serve. It's all good! read more

The servers are always nice, and there is a huge variety of ice cream (it can be overwhelming, but that's the best part). It's conveniently located by Weathervane, so you can get ice cream there after lunch or dinner, and there is always plenty of parking. New to the Dover area we have been anxious to try Cowlick's and finally manufactured an excuse. There was a line when we arrived, but with 4 or 5 windows open they took care of it in reasonable time. 4 of us had 3 different flavors (red raspberry revolution, chocolate lover's chocolate and a slated caramel something) all of which were creative and very tasty. The portions were very generous, larger, I think, than most competitors. The staff was friendly, even offering samples if we were heaving trouble deciding. The one thing that I cannot understand is their policy of causing one to order enough ice cram for 3 people before you can have two different flavors. My cup clearly had two separate large scoops in it. Why those could not be two different flavors makes no sense to me...the customer. read more

For sure, Golick's has great ice cream. But. A few years ago I wrote a letter to the owner's suggesting they change the way in which they serve ice cream - such as getting cones with paper wraps, or at the very least, wrap a napkin around the cone. The thing is, the kids who serve you are handling everything, including money, prior to handling the cone. Within a week a notice was posted on Golick's window stating that if you wanted a napkin wrapped around the cone prior to serving to just ask. It seems to me one shouldn't have to ask to have your food handled in a sanitary way. Tonight I went to Golick"s - I hoped to see changes were still in place, albeit, very minor. No such luck. There was no sign about napkins, cones have no paper, and I was served an ice cream by the server who handled money right before me. And the worst - what are we always told is the germiest item in our kitchen? - the sponge. Take a look when you go next time, if you do - there's a big sponge sitting near the ice cream freezers, and prior to using the scoop to scoop the ice cream the server wiped off the dirty dripping water from the shared scoop bucket of water, on the sponge! Is this sponge changed often, disinfected, and dried out between uses? Let's hope so, or that another way if found to take care of dripping water, before the Board of Health finds out. I did eat most of the ice cream, but not the cone. Getting kind of expensive - $2.75 for a kiddie ice cream - do you really want to spend that much money for your little one when you know they'd be happy with x brand from your local grocery store where you could get at least a quart for the same price? read more
