Unfortunately, my overall experience fell short of professional expectations. Initial Concerns On the first day, the owner arrived with an employee to begin work. After briefly applying wood filler for a few minutes, the owner informed me he had to leave. Before departing, he stuck out his hand without saying anything. I shook it which he didn't expect. he then told me he needed the cash. This rubbed me the wrong way. The remaining employee then attempted to connect equipment by pulling wires from two 20-amp breakers without using proper tools, despite my offer to check for a higher-amp breaker. This lack of care and preparation was concerning but I allowed work to proceed. Workmanship and Preparation No thorough inspection of the floor was conducted prior to sanding. Protruding nails were not set, and the floor was not vacuumed or swept before sanding began. When I raised the issue of nail setting, the worker dismissed the concern, stating "it'll be fine." The edging crew that arrived two days later displayed highly unprofessional behavior. One worker shouted profanities loud enough to be heard throughout the neighborhood. Their work caused significant collateral damage, including scuffs and gouges on freshly painted drywall, dents in metal corner beads, a 4-inch hole in the wall, and numerous dirty handprints. Finish Quality While the floors initially looked good before staining and polyurethane, the final product was unsatisfactory. There appeared to be little or no vacuuming between coats, resulting in debris embedded in the finish. When I raised concerns, this was blamed on the lack of heat in the house--though this explanation did not account for the poor preparation and cleanliness. Additionally, the sanding work left extensive waviness throughout the floors, significantly diminishing the overall appearance. Resolution The owner acknowledged the large hole in the drywall and offered $100 off the total price. While appreciated, this did not address the broader issues with quality and professionalism. Areas for Improvement This company needs to significantly improve in the following areas: * Professionalism and communication with clients * Attention to detail and proper preparation before sanding * Care to prevent damage to walls, trim, and other surfaces * Improved sanding technique to avoid floor waviness * Thorough cleaning between stain and polyurethane applications Final Impression Justin was courteous, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company without significant improvements to its professionalism, workmanship, and quality control.

Beware! We had a lvl floor installed in our kitchen,hall and entry. Tear out of molding(they…read moreinstalled) was not good. They damaged the molding and the drywall in one spot. Flooring was not installed per mfgs instructions. (Minimum 8") between joints, I have many under that. Smallest being 3/4". They damaged corner of cabinet, cut flooring too short and filled their under cuts with putty and silicone! Salesman Mike (son inlaw) to owner would not come out and the owner Phil would not come out either. Even after I sent them numerous pictures of the horrible job! Doors are hitting the floor not opening all the way. Baseboard and transition pieces falling off. Drywall damaged. Pictures tell the truth. I submitted paper work to attorney General and they forwarded it on to owner who lied to them about several things. Do not trust these smooth talkers. They just called me one Friday and said they were done! Not coming back to finish job. Never would I suggest anyone use this company. Not trustworthy. They just want your money and do not check on the job to see their work!

Of course, I started with the big box stores to nail down what would be a ridiculous price. Coming up short on so many other potential contractors, I mistakenly searched the web using this company's name--thinking it was another that I had been in contact with. I was impressed by CNY Flooring's online customer photos and testimonials, and afterward the willingness of the owner to arrange a free estimate, then finally and most of all the excellent pricing. I purchased my own tile elsewhere, and used CNY Flooring for the installation only. The owner Sid and his assistant did such awesome work and clean-up after that I'm now considering having more flooring work where I hadn't even thought of it before. I will provide an update and photos when the last piece is installed. But, I can tell you already that if you're looking for quality, timeliness, professionalism, and reasonable pricing, look no further. CNY Flooring is one of the best that I've encountered in 20 years here in Syracuse, and more than a half dozen tile flooring contractors in my home over the years. From the beginning, they were professional, knowledgeable, and honest about what could realistically be achieved with our floors. Once the work began, they discovered several unexpected challenges, including an old wax finish instead of polyurethane and stairs that had previously been repaired with stripped screws that were extremely difficult to remove. Despite these obstacles, they never cut corners and continued working toward the best possible outcome. What impressed me most was the pride they take in their work. They hold themselves to very high standards and genuinely care about the finished product. Even when I was already pleased with the progress, they continued looking for ways to improve the results. The floors look beautiful and have brought new life to our home while preserving its historic character.
