Vale Trails RV Park - Low voltage on a hot summer day when everyone is running their air conditioning.

Electricity isn't metered. Water pressure is good and tastes good to me. Monthly renters are asked to water the grass at their site. I use a timer to shut the water off after a few minutes automatically. This was the only place I could find space in the area when I made my reservation many weeks ago, and they made space for three RVs while we're working in the area. $450/month. Fact is they could have simply said "Sorry, no monthlies" at the time, but they didn't. Everyone else in the Ontario area just told us "no space". The owners are very nice and responsive. When I had a problem with the electricity (the breaker tripped for the circuit my space was at, I'm not sure why) at almost 10pm, they answered the phone (they never told me when I checked in that they would answer the phone day or night, and they deserve recognition for being available and responsive) and resolved the issue quickly. That and other things have changed my original review and brought my rating up.

Small irregular sites. People parked so driving through was difficult. Nobody on duty when we…read morearrived and it wasn't late. Our site was occupied by the neighbors truck. Wasn't worth the hassle to complain since the site wasn't expensive. Ate the charge and drove down the road to Vale Valley RV Park. Know better next time.

We pulled in after a long day of driving, paid $40 cash and found one spot. After walking around,…read morethis place was no more than a homeless encampment. Couldn't find the campground host to get our money back. Couldn't use the pic-nic table because it had six cats on it. Human excrement on the walls of the bathroom. Locals drive in and out all night long using the laundry facilities. This place was so bad that I called the State of Oregon Health Department to make complaint. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!

First of all, George, the guy i talked to on the phone ("come on down, bring all your friends! $7 per car."), who took my money, gave me a free pen, gave me some discarded cardboard to help me build a fire, and showed me where the bathroom was, was very friendly and helpful. You know those customer service experiences where you find yourself smiling minutes after you've finished talking? It was like that. This place was about a 15 minute drive from I-80 and yet it feels as though it was hours away from civilization (could have sworn I heard "Dueling Banjos" being played as we drove down the long gravel road). We were treated to both a beautiful sunset and sunrise and there was an adorable babbling brook nearby. We were tent camping on what I'm pretty sure was someone's front lawn but when it got dark we could have been deep in the forest, it was so quiet and peaceful. Every inch of our un-bug-sprayed-exposed skin got bit my mosquitoes, though I think that was due in part to our choosing to be so close to the water. The inhabitants of the campgrounds looked like permanent residents, there were about 8 or so RVs that looked like they hadn't been moved in a while. They probably don't have very many tent campers, because there were only 2 fire pits. The bathroom was really clean (if a little old and decrepit) and heated! Totally private shower. If you find yourself looking for a motel alternative in Eastern Oregon, this is a really good one. Bring the bug spray!
