Somehow we've never made it here in all our years, but hopefully more people will discover it with the new piers opening up in Olcott. It's more bar than grill, but one of our sons loves their chicken and fries basket and the other is a fan of the bacon wrapped shrimp. The burgers are excellent, and always cooked to order. The queso served with the chips can be hit or miss. It was bland the first time, but great the next. Lots of unique cocktails, as well as an assortment of beer and wine including local and regional varieties. My favorite is the diablo margarita. Tastes great with a nice kick. There's a dart board, pinball machine, and one of those modern jukeboxes. read more

Food was good, our waitress was very attentive- the problem was with another server who was there. He was surly and rude. When we pointed out to him that the outside deck was sworming with wasps- he basically said to deal with it. He snapped at my sister who is allergic to shell fish that there was shrimp on her burger - which was on her Bloody Mary- he said, "that's how it's made" . He made no attempt to just give her a different burger roll - then said to us that we've did nothing but complain since we came in. This is an $18 cocktail- a slider sized roll would have fixed the issue. Sad to say, we won't be back because of this head. read more

We have been here twice now. The service is impeccable! The owner is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. The beef nachos are yummy. The frozen drinks are delicious. Just left Covey's Cove. My family Reunion was this weekend and we ended it with "Mega Mary's" for Sunday/Funday at Covey's Cove. We walked in as a mob of 21 unexpected people...from 8 months old to decades older. We were greeted with a little nervousness...then warmth and welcoming. Service?...scary good considering we instantly filled every empty seat in the place. Bloody Mary's? EXCEED THE HYPE!!! Stopped in for lunch after shopping at cute little shops along Olcott beach. It looks like a hole in wall but the food was good and service great. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by Michael from behind bar and welcomed us in. We chose to sit outside. Michael was friendly and very attentive. He recommended the whistle dog which was a must have! Son had the trashcan which he loved and had him so full all day he didn't want dinner. Husband had burger which was good as well. We drove all the way to Coveys Cove for the bloody Mary everybody raves about I did not see that it had shrimp on it. I told the server when he delivered it that I'm allergic he said that's the way we serve it too bad we also told him that where we were sitting there were some bees so we moved our seat, the restaurant wasn't busy We were joking with him the whole time, he told us we were constantly complaining. Have visited this restaurant with family and friends plenty of times when I visit olcott. This particular time was extremely disappointing and won't be returning. To preface, I come here about every month in the spring/summer for years, I always sit at the bar and the girls are amazing, I'm 28 and never get ID'd at the bar. My boyfriend surprised me with a day out in Olcott, of course he knows I love this place so for lunch this was the obvious choice. We got in, we sat down ordered as usual, and my boyfriend wanted to order us two coronas to add to the surprise. The waiter immediately turned to me and asked for my ID, understandable I'm only 28, I had my wallet in the car, parked about a mile down so I went to show him my ID on the NYS mobile wallet app. While im pulling this up, my boyfriend asked him if he needed to see his, he's turning 26 next month. He said "no, I believe you're over 21 but her I'm not too sure about"I'll honestly take a compliment even though I have forehead wrinkles, sleeves tatted on my arms, and crows feet by my eyes. As I went to show him my ID through the NYS ID app, he refused that as an ID and wanted me to walk the mile to the car and grab my physical one. A beer wasn't that big of a deal to me so I proceeded to order water and let it go. After we ordered our food and appetizers, I ended up taking a sip of the beer. I mean hey I'm 28, it's my day off, and I'm by the beach, can you blame me? The waiter stormed over and screamed at us that we had to leave and made a scene in front of everyone saying my boyfriend was serving a MINOR alcohol. I had to laugh as of course that's not the case. Would this have bothered me so much if he asked for my boyfriends ID? No. The issue is he didn't care to see both of our IDs but demanded only one persons, of course the person who left theirs. As much as I can understand it's my fault I didn't bring my ID, it's just insane to cause such a scene and make my boyfriend out to be some weird creep in front of a full restaurant. It's insane to ID someone 3 years older than the person you "believe". If you are unsure of one, you should be IDIng both. Because wouldn't you know it, my boyfriend didn't have his ID on him either, and yet he was served. Anyways, as much as I love supporting small businesses and visiting this particular bar when I visit Olcott, I will be finding a different restaurant to be going to for next and all future visits. read more

My family went here on Mother's Day on a whim and I couldn't of been happier that we did. The owner greeted us with a masked smile and cleared off a table for us to sit down. This isn't a fine dining experience but it was a clean and super cozy local bar that was happy to go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. They had their own specialty drinks that we enjoyed and the food came out hot and tasty. We will definitely be back this summer to enjoy the patio and the fun atmosphere. read more

My wife, mother-in-law and me love this place. The menu well thought out and had a nice spread of options without being to much for a small place. If you look carefully they also have gluten free options! Well there is a section at the bottom. The bar is always well stocked with the usual but I hear that the owner had a real like for Irish whiskey and usually keeps some uncommon ones for the usual bar. It's a nice atmosphere whether you go when it's busy or super slow. And you can't beat the slow calm nature of the whole place read more

I have been to Coveys Cove so many times, I have honestly lost count. (I was supposed to write this awhile ago, but I forgot..) The owner, Mike, is a great asset to the community for more reasons than just owning a restaurant. During the original COVID outbreak when businesses were allowed to do takeout only, Mike remained open and worked his behind off like crazy to continue serving the community. On top of that, his staff was awesome and continues to remain awesome to this day. Even during COVID, the food and drinks remained consistent! Coveys food consists primarily of bar food, but is all obviously unique to Coveys. The food is great and the alcohol choices are just as great. If you have never had a whistle pig, I HIGHLY recommend it, seriously. If you are not sure what it is, perfect! What a great excuse to visit Coveys! As I write this, I'm looking forward to ordering food from there this weekend. Maybe you should too! read more

We went to Olcott today as part of event for Meals on Wheels that my Husband volunteers for. We went to Krull Park to let our Grandkids enjoy the splash pad. We decided instead of a picnic we would patronize a local restaurant named Covey's Cove. That in itself was our first mistake, the guy at the bar was so rude from the minute we stepped into the place. I asked him if he had a kids menu and rudely told me if he had one he would have bought it out as he saw we had children with us! So I asked if they maybe had a kids burger and I got the most sarcastic look, but some restaurants have small kids menu but it's not listed on their main menu, that was just one example but their were many more! Needless to say I will not be patronizing that establishment ever again!! read more

I've been coming to Covey's since it opened. It just keeps getting better here. THEY NOW HAVE CHICKEN WINGS!!! The food is fantastic Mike is always coming up with delicious new creations to add to the menu. One of the greatest things about Covey's is their dedicated GLUTEN FREE fryer. They serve chicken wings, fries, nachos, bacon wrapped shrimp...all without being cross contaminated by gluten from other fryers. The tacos are also outstanding. We were up from PA to fish for kings and browns. We stayed in the lighthouse inn (which was an excellent motel and great service BTW) and decided to eat out one night. We came upon Covey's .. it doesn't look like much from outside but I assure you the inside is clean and their food is fantastic. Mike the owner was more than accommodating and suggested the mussels so that's what I got... let me tell you it was the nest mussels I've ever had. Served with garlic bread and I got chips and salsa to go with it. The chips were hot ( freshly made) and so was the salsa. All around great food and great owners. Highly recommend. read more

Most restaurants were closed, but we saw Covey's Cove toward the end of the street and decided to check it out. When you walk in, you enter into the typical local bar scene. Places like this can have great food or horrible food, but we decided to stay, and we are very glad we did. The menu includes some unique offerings such as deep-fried chili-stuffed or bacon-wrapped hot dogs, but also more conventional food. I have food allergies which makes dining out a challenge, and was happy to find things that I could eat on the menu. Food was great, service was great. My family and I went to Covey's Cove during COVID-19 while staying at a lakefront cottage. Not too crowded, we ordered 2 orders of street tacos and 2 flatbread pizzas.
