The day of, Liz's presence went above & beyond our expectations. My childbirth experience of course did not go as planned but having Liz made what could've been a disappointing, scary, & chaotic change of plans had it just been my husband & I, into a calm, informed, & positive experience. When we have baby number 2 hopefully 3 years from now, there is no birth plan I create where Liz is not an important component to their labor & delivery.

Looking back on the entire experience, I know I would not have been able to do it without her. I ended up having a natural birth and Stacey was there to help me through it all. There were several times that I did not believe in myself or think I could do it and Stacey knew exactly what to say and knew exactly what to do to help make me feel mentally strong and physically better. I have told all my friends about Stacey and strongly encourage them to use her when they decide to have a baby. I know for sure my husband and I will be calling on Stacey when we go to have baby number two. Stacey is incredibly knowledgable and so easy to relate to and get along with, I was able to be completely myself with her and was able to talk with her like I'd known her for years. I was so happy to have her by my side when the nurses asked me questions or advised me on things that I wasn't sure about. Knowing Stacey's resume, background and years of experience I knew I could trust in her advise and opinion. Ever since management changed, it has been a 1- or 2-star experience. We've only been able to attend on Sundays, so this is all of our very narrow lens of the Sunday schedule/staff. We finally cancelled this summer after a few major issues: 1) The new manager-on-duty for Sundays, Kiley, treats SafeSplash like a hang-out for her own personal family. It's hit-or-miss if she'll even acknowledge people when they walk in the door, because there's a high chance she's talking intensely with her husband and kids, or giggling with the high schoolers as if she's one of them. 2) Kailee might be Kiley's babysitter? Idk. But she is supposed to call kids to when they're supposed to go on deck, and she often misses the call time because she's playing with Kailee's kids. Lessons are supposed to be 30 short minutes, and there were at least 3 times that it was less than 30 minutes because the kids were not on-deck on time. 3) Soraya is usually the lifeguard - and she is FABULOUS. The few times she's been out, Kailee has "subbed" as lifeguard. I had to task my husband with being the unofficial "lifeguard" while I literally sat and stared at Kailee counting how many times she ACTUALLY even looked at the pool. Once. She glanced at the pool ONCE. As a lifeguard. She was way too busy yapping with 2 of the other swim instructors (one who was IN the pool supposedly instructing!) About Spanish class? While children are in a pool learning how to stay afloat. I was DONE after this. We cancelled that day. There has been a ton of staff-turnover, and our new instructor, Ali, was lovely. I feel bad that she lost almost her entire class on Sunday because of poor new management. Truly, SafeSplash has stopped being "safe" swim lessons. I'll pay an arm and a leg MORE across town for a swim school that takes safety and professionalism even 1/4 more seriously than this new management. (p.s. You can see my yelp history to know I'm not someone to come on and bash businesses for no reason. This has been such a disappointment that I felt it was a responsibility to let any other potential families know about this for the safety of their own children.)

My children experienced blatant favoritism, where the same students were constantly given opportunities while others were overlooked, no matter how hard they worked. The class leveling is a complete mess, students with vastly different skill levels are lumped together, making it impossible for anyone to truly progress. When their regular instructor is unavailable, the kids are often taught by high school students who are given too much power in this school. While these students are lovely, it feels more like I'm paying for babysitting rather than a real dance education. I believe this is closely tied to the owner's lack of maturity, which affects their ability to run a business and hire qualified dance instructors. The instructors rarely provide meaningful feedback to help students improve, leaving them to guess what they need to work on. The "highest ranking" ballet teacher who is also good friends with the owner, is extremely condescending and rude to anyone who isn't one of their favorites. More so, the teachers are immature and not properly trained, and openly discuss students with other students, which is completely unprofessional and damaging to young dancers' confidence. The schedule is never provided in a timely manner and constantly fluctuates, leaving parents at the mercy of the school's availability rather than allowing for proper planning. We were constantly told the schedule is coming out on X date, registration is coming on X date and this rarely happens and is usually delayed weeks. If you truly want your child to learn proper dance technique, and grow as a dancer, look elsewhere--this school is more about instagram than an actual dance education.
