This school is as highly dysfunctional as the people running it and working there. When you have to post your own internal reviews there is a problem. Stop being deceptive and accept that parents need to know what they are paying for! Barbara Hines(Director of Admissions) has been at this school for about 15 years. She has served as a teacher, principal and Director. She nor Mr. Ball(Head of School) are progressive thinkers which is why he is leaving this year. Barbara also needs to leave. The school is using the same curriculum that Barbara's and other staff members children used when they were a student there. These students have finished college. She is deceptive, racist, disorganized and has very old-fashioned ideas and thoughts. She is in charge of placing students in classes and every year she does something unethical. She will place most of all the black students in a class with a black teacher and all the white students in a class with a white teacher. She also places all the high performing students in a teacher class she favors and the lower performers and behavior issues in the other teachers class. Teachers and MANY families have left because of this unfair treatment and ridiculous workload. At school functions where parents and community are involved she(Barbara) will purposely have a black child in her arms to appear she is not racist. Certain teachers are favored and they are usually the hard-nosed, non-nurturing types. She nor Mr. Ball appreciates engaging activities that are fun or technology based. Last year,a teacher posted projects she did with the class using technology and she was told to remove it. They did not want parents to see this wonderful lesson the teacher had prepared for the students because it would force the other teachers to have to step up with technology which many of them are unable to do. This is a known fact that they do not believe in the use of technology. This is told to parents in their interview with Mr. Ball. Parents please look at the copyright dates in the books. The curriculum is NOT competitive with the what is being taught in public schools which is why when students leave and attend other schools they are behind. This is a known fact! Memorizing bible time lines are a waste time and have no benefit. Too much homework! The does not support students with learning differences. Under the classical model this is not their niche. But she will admit your child with a learning disability to fill seats, it sets the child up to fail. They are doing whatever is necessary to keep the doors open. Selection criteria of admitted students are low and they seem to be getting more students with behavior problems. Barbara states that teaches have the Orton-Gillingham training which is false, they sent two teachers to a seminar to get an overview about it. Administration uses deceitful selling tactics. No one at CCS has the training and it is not used in the classes. These are the years learning should be engaging, creative and fun. It is especially the wrong place for boys. They learn different and need to move. Boys are treated harsh and most of the faculty have girls(personal children) or non at all. Physical activity and socialization are not encouraged here and are used as punishments. No child should have silent lunch or not have recess. These are common/everyday consequences throughout the school. If you are an active parent in the school your child is chosen quite often for different events and will likely win or place in any contest that is taking place. Tuition increases every year at this very small school and nothing ever changes. Where is the money going because the students are not even given their books back at the end of the year, so surely books do not need to be ordered each year. Saxon is such an old curriculum that is it a lot less costly the other curriculum which is why they use it. Parents do you know the teachers are not state certified. read more
