I first took my dog to another emergency hosp. Only to wait three hours for my dog to be seen. Upon examining her, I was told they could stabilize & rehydrate her & treat her & wanted to do a sonogram of her stomach to see if there was something blocking her bowels. He symptom were vomiting, not eating for five days at that point. Lethargy, she was urinating & deficating on her own, as well as drinking water but vomiting it up. She wasn't her normal little dog self. I was asked if she could have swallowed anything, apiece of a toy, a treat or some other thing. I told them no, she was always with me, she never leaves my side, even when I drive somewhere she's got to be with me. I advised I had sprayed for bugs & she had possibly ate some bad food or opossum poop. I was thinking she maybe had poison in her body. I asked how much the sonogram would cost. They told me $900.00 just for that. I asked about cost for the other treatment. I was told around $300.00 to $350.00. I said I couldn't afford to pay for the sonogram but can they do the other treatment the vet there explained they could treat her as an outpatient. I said that sounds good. I went out to the waiting area, & they brought her back out to me after about half an hour. They said she was stable & I needed to follow up with her regular veterinarian. I was charged around $298.00 . The whole reason I took her to this vet hospital vet I couldn't get her in for at least a week to her normal veterinarian. I took her home & made an appointment for her to go to her regular veterinarian which is Covedale pet hospital. It was for a few days Until the appointment. The next day in the morning she had an episode where she had collapsed, & was barely breathing. Her entire body was limp & flimsy I couldn't get a response from her. I called Covedale pet hospital & told them she had taken a turn for the worst, they said get her here ! I rushed her to them, I ran into their pet hospital with her in my arms. Three employees helped dropping whatever they were doing & rushed her back to an emergency room. The Vet came out to tell me she was stable but not out of the woods yet. I had to leave a $ 300.00 deposit & was given a printed estimate of how much her treatment would cost. The estimate read as broken down into each charge & cost. It would be between $597.40 to $712.40. The end bill came to a total of $709.28 & I was given a discount for $350.00. After a weeks treatment & finding out my dog has addisons disease. Her adrenal glands were malfunctioning she must take a pill everyday & a shot every 4 weeks. My dog lil'debbie a dachshunds is doing great !!! The entire bill to diagnose xrays, stabilize, shots & seven days in the hospital still was less than what Petmed hospital wanted just to give her a sonogram, & she never even needed a sonogram! I would highly recommend Covedale pet hospital to everyone not only to people I know. They really & truly care about the pets they treat. The prices are really fair. Thank you to everyone at Covedale pet hospital !!! read more
