I can't rave enough about the little details they get right here. We checked in late in the evening and everything went smoothly. Very clean room, entire hotel is updated and modern decor. They have a bar and bistro open until 10pm during the week with adequate snack bar selection for things to take to room and great pool and work out room. Mattresses were comfortable, and the tv was updated with easy Netflix access. I woke up at four am and snuck to the lobby. The lady at the desk brewed me a cup of coffee and turned some lights on for me to work. She checked on me to make sure I didn't need anything else. Entire process was definition of hospitality.

Tv in weird location

I checked in after having one of the most nightmare Travel and had to drive 19 hours to get here. The woman's attitude at the front desk was one of the worst I've ever seen in all my travel and I travel a lot. I checked in the room. The TV is situated where you have to lie on the bed, which is completely pointing straight and the TV is all the way to your right you can't even watch the TV. You got to tilt the TV all the way side pull it out and then you only could see about 50% of the TV. There is no microwave in the room. The refrigerator is literally a half of a mini refrigerator. The room set up is absolutely one of the weirdest set ups. The parking horrendous. I literally had to park up and all the way around the back of the hotel to walk all the way to the front. I usually love the Marriott. They have an excellent reputation however they need to look at their staff because that woman working at the front desk rude is an understatement. I would consider how they set up the room as it's not good finally, the straw that broke the camels back was I had to Dry some laundry. I had I washed it prior and when I got here, I just wanted to use the dryer or dry nine pieces of clothes and the woman said he had to use a credit card. It will pre-charge a credit card $10 to use a two dollar and 50 minute drive for eight pieces of clothes And it took two cycles to dry the clothes and it was literally thin clothes no jeans or anything I would not recommend this hotel to anybody I know customer beware however hopefully I am warning people not to come here unless you do not plan to stay in your room for a lot of time then how about it? It's a beautiful looking room just very weirdly horribly designed and the people at the front desk or the person I was exposed to beyond rude Marriott you need to do better.

We stayed here recently and had a fantastic experience. The room was giant, even for a suite, it was bigger than my sisters apartment in Milwaukee by a landslide and it was pretty dang clean (found a few candy wrappers under the furniture). The facilities were great. They had a little mini mart in the lobby, and a large food menu at the bar, lots of outdoor seating areas, and the pool area was well kept. Getting to the hotel was easy to access and there was a great amount of parking outside. The only constructive criticism I could give is to powerwash the outside of the building, it looked a bit dirty compared to the hotel next to it.

Trash under sheets and bed skirt.

On my last night I decided to do a little stretching and yoga before bed. I located a charger, lid, popcorn and maybe apple peels under my bed skirt. I didn't bother contacting front desk as it's late and I'm leaving first thing in the morning. I've not been greeted once in my 2 night stay. Self check in, so I did not need to go to the desk. Rooms and amenities were otherwise ok. Location is good and market and bistro options are nice. Pool is not warm as advertised. I could not access fitness center with mobile key. Would recommend with cleanliness caution.

Pros: Good clean rooms Nice lounge inside and out, fire pit awesome Starbucks and breakfast, service friendly and fast friendly front desk greeters very accommodating Cons: Hear noise levels of the highway in room Prices of food is a bit steep Final word: I'll go back and stay here when I'm visiting.

Great hotel just off the highway! Customer service was nice and they have done a good job stay up to date at the property. Will be staying here on future visits.

Marriot is usually my top choice when traveling for business so it was nice to see that Marriot had a Courtyard property right across the highway from my Madison office. I arrived rather late thanks to some sub zero weather delays, however it was nice to be able to checkin and grab a quick bite to eat at the bistro in the lobby. Selection is limited, however its very convenient. I didn't have much of an opportunity to checkout the outside courtyard due to the snow and extreme cold however it looked like it would provide a great area to relax after a busy day. Overall all the interior hotel property was clean, with a nice comfortable room. The room itself offered me enough room to spread out. Complete with a workspace, sofa, 32" flat screen tv and a mini fridge. The bathroom was average size, however not too small where you would feel cramped. The staff here was great, from check in to check out and even dining at the bistro everyone went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I already have to return to Madison in a few weeks and have already booked by return trip at this very same hotel. One complaint I did have was staying on the rear of the hotel is that the garbage pickup provided a nice wakeup call between 6-6:30am twice during my 4 night stay.

King room, very cozy but not very king size

The room was clean and had a rustic modern feel. When the carpet is beige, you know they have to take care of it consistently. Everything had a plush feel. The shower had a rainfall showerhead and a handheld. There's a scent that emanates throughout the hotel and into your room. It's light and adds to the ambiance. It's also in the sheets and linen too. I guess that adds to one of the negatives I list later in that the HVAC seems to be centrally controlled. There was some very minor debris in the sink that may have been left from wiping of a dirty rag, but that was mostly it. Gym was nice and parking was plentiful and free. What I didn't like: - Mini fridge in the room had a lot of snacks and other drinks that I assume were for sale. I usually pack my own food, so those items took up some space in the fridge - I get cold easily, so I try to adjust the thermostat, but it's centrally controlled, which I've never seen... I'm assuming all of the rooms are regulated in this way... - Breakfast bar- had bare minimal which I really don't mind. I really wouldn't expect a place like this to serve you breakfast unless it was full service. Would definitely come back

Does not have full breakfast but does have grab and go muffins, fruit, coffee, etc. They also have a rooftop bar where one can sit inside or outside. Full bar with good bartenders. Menu is limited but still plenty to choose from. We had an order of mussels and a charcuterie tray. Both were very good. Our bartender was Colton and he took good care of us.

But their local shuttle came in clutch for the ride there! Didn't love the front desk person with glasses and no name tag talk to us condescendingly about the shuttle for after our show. We weren't demanding it, we were asking what to do about potentially getting it because we didn't know how long the show would be. Aidan at check in was helpful and efficient, though I'm not quite sure what was an "upgrade" about our room. It was certainly nice, but judging from the pictures on the website, definitely still just a "room" and not a "suite," as there was no couch. The decor was very lovely and everything was in excellent condition, too. The bathroom was perfect for two people and the shower was excellent as well. The elevator could be a little slow, so if you can, consider taking the stairs as you'll definitely save some time especially if it's busy. The light up sign as you exited the elevator showing the time of day was very cool and I enjoyed getting to see it lit up in two different combinations. Gym is in great condition and very spacious, too! All in all, a worthy entry in terms of Madison hotels.

Normally it's much more reasonable, though. Parking was a little confusing at first since it's not super clear where to go, but when I called the hotel, the staff was friendly and explained we could park in the garage behind the building for $20 a night through the hotel. Super easy once we found it, and I liked that you can use your key card for in-and-out access. Check-in was smooth and I loved they have a texting option if you need anything during your stay, very convenient! The room itself was clean, fresh, and had a few little surprises. I genuinely thought I was hearing music from the other room when I turned on the shower, but it turns out there's a bar in the shower that plays music when the water hits it, such a relaxing, spa-like touch. The TV even had a personalized welcome screen with my name, and as a rewards member, the late checkout was a super nice perk. The robes were clean, cozy, and perfect for lounging while getting ready. Location-wise, it's perfect! Right downtown and close to plenty of bars, restaurants, the capitol, and the Orpheum Theatre where we were going to. Uber and Lyft were easy to get, but the hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service within a 3-mile radius, which is such a nice option. We didn't get to use it this time since it was first come, first serve, and even with scheduling the shuttle, timing didn't work out for us with their logistics and the game, but I love that they have it as a complimentary option. Security felt great too, the doors lock after a certain hour and require a key card for entry. In-room amenities were solid: a Nespresso for coffee, a spacious antique-style fridge, and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! I slept so well. There were a couple minor hiccups, the streaming on the TV had audio issues (the front desk mentioned it's been an ongoing problem), and the small mirror light in the bathroom kept shutting off, but those were easy to overlook. We ended up getting the audio working. Overall, the room was spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, with a separate workspace, a lounging area, and a fun mix of vintage and modern decor. Loved the artwork, neon touches, and overall vibe. It was clean, safe, and full of personality. Definitely a spot I'd stay at again next time I'm in Madison!

This was notably less expensive than the hotels close to the Capitol and not as cheap as the ones a little further out in the suburbs. This hit the sweet spot. Would definitely stay here again. PROS: Super clean and tidy everywhere; Fair value; No charge for parking; Handy free shuttle (that we used to go to Camp Randall for the big grad ceremony); Only a 20 minute walk to Camp Randall; Washer & dryer on several floors which was super helpful when we unexpectedly needed to wash a few things; Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful; Nice modest restaurant inside hotel; Sandwiched next to two busy street and I am a very light sleeper but had no problem w the noise (we were on University St side); Beds were comfortable; Fantastic food; AC wall unit performed just fine; Bathroom was in excellent shape w a shower only; Spectacular lunch place to eat across the street called Pasture and Plenty, what a find! CONS: Shuttle was busy a few times and we didn't want to wait so we grabbed a Lyft (not a big deal); Some of the carpets and furniture were slightly worn but not an issue. In summary... A shockingly repugnant experience. The employees at the Edgewater are lazy and, quite frankly, kind of stupid. They couldn't care less about conducting an ethical transaction much less a positive experience. I sincerely hope everyone at the Edgewater has the day they deserve. **Update** Wow. They didn't even mail the card until 5/10/2026. The person who prepared the gift card had to write the words "Happy Mother's Day" on the card and then waited until Mother's Day to send it...with insufficient postage (that I paid $7.00 for). The Edgewater is downright repulsive.

The staff was very friendly, but our visit started off on a concerning note. When we were checking in, the gentleman at the front desk told me that the pool had failed inspection and that there would be another inspection the next day, so hopefully it would be open that afternoon the next day. Already gross if you can't pass inspection and a bad first impression. When we walked down to our room, there were empty Amazon boxes littering common areas. This place could be featured on hotel hell if it was still running/producing seasons. I was really disappointed with our room. I absolutely LOVE the idea of themed rooms, but ours clearly hadn't been serviced in a long time. It smelled horribly musty, the bed was so thin and uncomfortable that we could feel the wood frame underneath, and the bathroom was gross. My back was really sore in the morning, and it was not a good way to start off a day of hiking. The wallpaper was all peeling and it's clear this room hasn't really been updated in a while. We didn't feel comfortable touching the carpet so we wore our crocs the whole time we were there. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The arm of my chair also broke off as I was trying to pull it into the table. The biscuits and gravy were very cafeteria like and I didn't even want to touch the eggs because they came in the weird shaped circles like the kind you get from McDonald's. My stomach felt really bad after eating breakfast both times so l don't recommend eating breakfast, even if it is included. I lived in a dorm for three years at school, so I'm pretty used to less than ideal conditions, but this even grossed me out. It's clear this place has a lot of really cool history, but it reached its peak a long time ago and I'm sad I wasn't able to see it in its prime. I would've loved to come back, but not for $180 dollars a night. Taxes and fees came to nearly $100, so for two nights and three days we payed $464. 400+ dollars and we didn't even feel comfortable taking our shoes off? Not worth it. As much as I love the themed suite ideas, don't waste your money to get terrible food and dirty rundown rooms.

If exercise or nature is your jam, Picnic point is only 2.5 miles away from the hotel door. The room itself was very conducive, mini fridge, microwave, bar space, work space, lounge space, bed space, and spa space. The only thing confusing to me is that Marriot seems to have opted out of including vents in the bathrooms. Meaning if you made a stink, you can trap it by closing the door, but you cannot diffuse it, unless you brought alternative means with you to do so. If you are expecting a lake view, make sure you request it prior to check in and also know that you will need to be above a certain floor level because 2nd floor has a view of the side of Target. The ice machines are great and have the added feature of tap water to refill water bottles and thermoses and such. It is a lovely venue and location and I would totally stay here again.
