I'm a Marriott fan and always stay at one of their properties when possible. This one is respectable. Clean and quiet. Clean. Slept well. Disappointed that their evening bistro was closed so no opportunity for a nightcap and to socialize and unwind with a snack. Easy on and off the highway, but nothing very close (a few miles) for dining, etc. read more

The stay was fine enough. It was pretty difficult to sleep because the pillows were extremely flat and uncomfortable. Even stacking the pillows on top of each other provided no additional support or comfort. If you stay at this hotel be sure to bring your own pillows! The layout of the hotel is also a bit strange, you have to walk a great deal from the check in desk to the elevators. No housekeeping was available during the stay, only before and after checkout. read more

We were told that there was a full breakfast in the morning. When we got there we waited for the longest, and the food was horrible, cold and disgusting and they charged $44 for 2 fruit cups and cold pancakes. Never again!! read more

The rooms are decent, but the hotel is overpriced for what it offers. No free breakfast, no amenities available. They were doing construction on much of the hotel, so it really wasn't worth the price, but we didn't know about the construction when booking or we would have gone elsewhere. read more

First, you need to fix the shower in room 342. It has one setting, scalding hot. The tiny microwave in the room, stored under the counter, will tip over if you are not careful. A Vente coffee will not fit in the tiny micro. When we first checked in there was a large industrial floor drying machine in the room. Yes, the toilets are lower to the ground than standard. Nice having the Starbucks in the lobby. The baked goods are not fresh. Fix the shower. read more

This was a very nice hotel. The staff was friendly and they even have a in-house Starbucks . The pool is open til 10pm daily and easy check in service . I was checked in less then 5 min . The rooms are nice and very clean with some upper levels having balcony to go out on . The 1st floor does have slider doors for anyone that is a smoker it's a nice option to have since all the rooms are non smoking. Only flaw was the refrigerator I had was not cold at all and I had a nice suite which was a slight bummer ,but they had ice on the 2nd floor which helped. They don't have continental breakfast which is pretty sad for such a nice hotel ,but they do have Starbucks with a few breakfast sandwiches offered (9) or fruit cups and such. read more

The good is the staff is great, the hotel is clean and they look to be doing some improvements to the building. The bad is the restaurant is not open, there is no pool(when we booked the photos showed one). I do not know who made the decision to install the toilets they installed. They are horrible. They are so low it's like you are sitting on the floor. All and all I really did not enjoy my stay and would look to book elsewhere but that's just me. read more

What a nice stay!! This hotel was clean as a whistle... the reception clerk was so helpful and friendly. The 24 mini mart was stocked with sundries and necessities, like chocolate! The lobby was nicely appointed and spotless. The rooms were nice, lots of linens, extra pillows, iron, hair dryer, etc. We had a room with a loveseat and coffee table. The bed was cozy and the whole place was simply comfortable. I'm partial to the Courtyard Marriotts because train their staff well and know how to treat their customers. The price per room was phenomenal... we had AAA and got a discounted rate. It was the best price in the area. The Bistro in the lobby was served great food! The avocado toast and egg breakfast was amazing! If you prefer your eggs scrambled, no problem! Nice muffin and scone selection, Starbucks coffees and teas, and many other selections. The also served lunch. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. From now on, whenever we're visiting CT, this will be our home away from home! read more

I stayed here for 4 night right before Christmas and it was a good stay. The lobby is modern and the rooms are almost as modern. It is one of those hotels that has multiple doors so since I was toward the back of the hotel, I was able to park right by the back door and access my room from there. There are a few reasons this was not a higher rating. One is that the aforementioned back door did not lock properly automatically. You had to shut it yourself and most people don't so I would find it unlocked when I got back in the evenings. Second, the rooms by the freeway are pretty noisy. They have limited amenities during COVID. The first room they put us in, room 146, had a bed bug. We had housekeeping come in and 'capture' it and take it away, however, as we know, where there is one, there are others. So, we had the front desk find us another room. So far, no bed bugs found in new room. The staff did nothing to compensate us for the hassle, like a free night stay. Overall, this courtyard is very dated compared to others. The rooms and bathrooms are rather small, and the tile and sink countertops are dated. The shower head is low-flow, not great. read more

Everything is closed; gym, pool, bistro. Personally, I'm frustrated that I am paying the same prices for the lost of amenities. If my apartment pool is open, gym pool is open, and other hotel pools are open, my feeling is that there is a way to pen the hotel pool. Wish I knew all of this before booking...... Major issue with the room keys though - they easily deactivate with ANY type of magnet, so beware of placing your key next to your phone, laptop, or in my case, a business card magnet from a restaurant. In terms of the actual room, the bed makes A LOT of noise when you get on or off the bed. Pillows are too soft and make your head sink into them. Blanket is really thin. Water from the sink and shower smells like chlorine. The bath towels are quite thin and seem overly used. Some of the small towels smell like chlorine as well. There's a pool at the hotel, so I'm guessing the smell really is chlorine. It's great that the shower's water pressure isn't low to be eco-friendly, but then again, for all those pro-save-the-environment peeps out there, you might be upset at this. The layout of the room is nice upon first glance. My room had a patio. The sink is outside the bathroom, and the closet is across from the sink. No fan in the bathroom though. The room is definitely not sound-proof and you can clearly hear all the people in the hallway and the people accessing their rooms nearby. Hair dryer isn't the best - doesn't have a "Cool" option, and the fan sucks in your strands of hair if you're not careful! Overall, it looks nice and the service is great, but the actual stay was not the best it could have been. read more

Nice Courtyard hotel! My girlfriend and I wanted to spend New Years together somewhere local that had a heated indoor pool and Courtyard in Walllingford delivered! The room was nice and clean and the pool was a nice treat in the winter months. The reception from the front desk was friendly and caring while the whole demeanor of the property looks better in person than from their online photos provided by other guests. I redeemed some Marriott points and was able to stay the night for free (this property was quite reasonable btw) and the snack shop had some great little things for us to eat while celebrating the ball dropping! We got a couple of San Pellegrino waters and 2 small Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice creams along with some Sabra Humus. (we're fancy! ;) ) I would definitely return here for a visit in the future! read more

One of the best hotels I've stayed at. Rooms were EXTREMELY well kept. Nice HD big screens in the rooms. Bummed there was no microwave, but it did have a fridge. Service was exceptionally friendly. Their little "bistro" has a nice happy hour and a good selection of throw-together meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I only fault the prices. $5 for a jug of "Naked Juice"?? Seriously? And, unless you're a die-hard Starbucks fan, I'd recommend turning around and going over to the FREE coffee stand that's right off the main lobby. Their location kinda sucks - there's NOTHING within walking distance except for another hotel and a day care center. The closest convenience store, diner, whatever is about 5 miles down the road in the 'industrial strip' of town. But, overall, a great hotel stay that I would recomment to anyone in the area - just make sure you have a rental car. read more

Everyone here was great and helpful There is a "bistro" on-site but the food was, eh, and the wines by the glass vastly overpriced. No breakfast is included. 06/10/82021 - I WOULD NOT STAY HERE! if you drive your personal car. I had my Catalytic Converter stolen off my car. The police officer said it is a prime area because close to the highway. Also, he said this hotel has no SECURITY, SECURITY Cameras and a very poor parking set up, only night staff that walks around. The staff was nice, but would even comp a one-night stay - I'm Gold Elite, down from Platinum bc of the pandemic. (at least no one got hurt!) **Invest in Security Marriott - it is cheaper than losing (god knows how many) guests because of a review. 1 Star bc of the theft (over $4,500 to fix) read more

Recent house renovations required a stay in a hotel for me and the other half in order for them to be finished on time and under budget. We picked this one as it was in town and decently priced. I'm not sure if we really enjoyed the stay because it was a great hotel or if we were just happy to have our house finished so it's three stars. The bright spot was that both gentlemen at the front desk were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. From check in to check out and when we went down there to enjoy a bottle of beer before going to bed, everyone was so nice and welcoming. So that's a plus. The room was typical Marriott; we reserved a king sized bed with a sofa. The iPod/iPhone docking station was a nice plus as was the table and chairs on the balcony. A decent sized flat screen t.v rounded out the room. I'm going to take a point off for the room mix up. We booked this room a month in advance and requested extra towels, an extra blanket and extra foam pillows and a room on an upper floor. Well, we didn't get the extra towels, blanket or pillows and we were assigned a room on the first floor right by the breakfast area. The gentleman at the front desk at check in time corrected the floor but what's the sense of booking reservations and specifics if they're not going to be honored? Moving on... The indoor pool and jacuzzi were a nice touch however every time we attempted to spend more than 10 minutes down there, it would be overtaken by families and this overly obnoxious girl's sports team. I'm sure if we had stayed longer, we would have enjoyed it more but alas, kids really do ruin everything. The bed was that fantastic Marriott mattress that made us feel like we were sleeping on a cloud. It's a good thing that we never got that extra blanket; we were never able to get the room to a comfortable temperature and ended up sleeping with the balcony door open to let in a cool breeze. Even still, the room temperature never got below 68 degrees and we like to sleep at 60 degrees. The maid service was ok. The room was spotless when we first entered and then again when we came back Saturday afternoon. The other half swears up and down that we got our same wet towels that we left in a heap in the bathroom re-hung. My solution was to raid the maid cart for new ones. Problem solved but not getting fresh towels is a definite no-no. Breakfast was a disaster. They didn't have a waffle maker for make your own waffles which is our personal favorite. From what we saw, it was cold cereal, bagels, fruit and yogurt. Oh and the obnoxious girls sports team had cleared the place out by 9:05. We passed and went out for breakfast. It wasn't the greatest hotel stay and if it wasn't for the nice room and the super friendliness of the guys at the front desk I'm sure this would have been knocked down to two stars. We usually stay at Hampton Inn and Suites/Hilton brand hotels (I get a work discount, I'm not a Paris Hilton fan at all) so maybe I was expecting way too much. read more

Wow, $4k for a weekend stay! I parked my truck at 3pm and came out at 5pm to a truck with no catalytic converter. The management would not even comp me my stay despite them knowing that this is a reoccurring issue at this hotel. So I've clocked almost three months here. I haven't ended my stay yet, so I'll be careful what I say...there are somethings I should talk to the staff about, which I will do soon. My favorite thing about this place is the courtyard. It's really nicely landscaped. If you stay here, walk through it as often as possible...just beware of the odd configuration of open and locked doors on the pool side. It's nice that there's a patio and a grill with tables. It's a nice common area. The rooms are traditional Marriott rooms. I've stayed in one with two double beds, ones with king beds, and finally, after asking three times, scored a one-bedroom suite. It's pretty stellar, and to add to it, my friend has the room next to mine, and there's an adjoining door... I don't know if they did that on purpose, but if they did, great move. The place is clean enough. The staff's pretty low key. They're acceptable, but not exceptional. There is one front desk guy that does get an exceptional rating. I was exhausted after a long day at work, and wanted to know of a good restaurant that delivered. I was so lazy, the front desk guy volunteered to e-mail me a scanned copy of the menu for a place. I really appreciated the one maid I had that left me thank you notes for tips. That was the way to earn steady tips. I've never had breakfast - in spite of being platinum, it's $10.95. If I weren't a Marriott points junkie, I'd search for greener pastures. Probably the biggest selling point for this place for me is it's proximity to work. The four stars reflects how pleased I am with my king suite, but they're hard to come by given there are only 12/180 rooms if I've done my math correctly studying the floor plans. I agree with Jess, it's certainly a maze. For someone on the third floor in one wing to visit someone on the third floor on the other requires two flights of stairs down, passing by the pool, lobby or through the courtyard, and then up another two flights of stairs. I've finally grown accustomed to it. Oh yeah, when you enter from the road, you might be pressed to know where the lobby is (signage guys?) - it's to the right. The parking configuration is also odd giving plenty of space to people on one side, but barely enough for the other. Enjoy the nice landscaping. read more

Nice hotel and free wifi! The rooms are a good size. Breakfast you have to buy in the downstairs cafe area and is not included. The gym has about 2 ellepticals and 2 treadmills, both with very fuzzy TVs, there is also a nice variety of weights. Overall good experience! read more

I often choose Marriott's for my business travel, so I am familiar with this brand. Courtyards, in my experience, tend to be well staffed, clean, adequately spacious, and comfortable. Some of them are a little overpriced, but not astronomical. This particular Courtyard is the best I have stayed in -- and I've stayed in many. It is clear to me that whoever supervises, trains, and recruits staff is doing an amazing job. When I arrived, there was no line at the front desk. I was checked in immediately, even though I was early. I was given a choice for location of rooms, and was told a bit about the hotel as this was my first time at this location. The woman behind the counter was exceptionally pleasant, and thorough. When she said welcome, I got the sense that she really meant it -- not that she just had to say it. Throughout my stay, every -- and I mean every -- staff member who I walked anywhere near was professional, pleasant, and said something nice "I hope you enjoy your stay," "good morning," etc. -- and they said it like they meant it, not that it was obligatory. The room was the size I needed. If I had anything to say to improve, I like a more comfortable bed -- this one was on the hard side. However, some people like that so I can't complain. I felt like people wanted me to be here and cared, and that I could do what I needed to get done. Oh, and they serve Starbucks 24/7. I love that. This is a spectacular hotel for its price point, and in fact was a bit lower in price than others I might look into -- an outstanding place to stay. I will be here again! read more

I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding last night. The hotel told her that if 12 rooms were booked for the wedding, they would provide a shuttle for the guests to the wedding. They did not mention that it was an 11-person shuttle and that they would only do one trip. When the shuttle arrived at the venue (15 minutes away) at 11 pm for pickup, they could only take 11 people and refused to do another trip. This left 15 people, including the bride and groom, stranded at the venue with no way to return to the hotel. It was the worst customer service that I have ever seen and resulted in multiple people forced to drive themselves when they should have been able to rely on the shuttle. read more

I recently stayed at this location when I needed to attend a seminar in nearby Cromwell. Since the seminar hotels and those surrounding it would be crowded this hotel was a nice welcome change. The location of the hotel and that of our room gave us the privacy, comfort and rest my companion and I needed. When we checked in our fridge didn't work so the staff brought up a new one immediately and the attendants that checked and attended to our room made sure we had everything we needed. On the night before we left my companion got sick with food poisoning after dining at a nearby restaurant and the staff was quick to attend to her and help her with anything she needed. There were a few drawbacks, the gym and equipment needs to be updated and the staff at the front desk that I tried to reach in the morning took forever. The do have a cafe in house but there was no hostess to seat you or give you direction, no menus. So we went elsewhere to eat. I think there needs to be more staff and more communication or explanation but all in all a pleasant visit and I would return again. My vehicle was broken into at this location's parking lot overnight. I had escalated it to Marriott claims but they denied it. There were 3 vehicles that got broken into back in mid oct 2015. I heard there were previous instances of this happening but it seem like a common occurrence. read more

Was going to do a room block here for my wedding next year, the first gentleman I talked to was very nice and helpful and told me they'd be sending me a contract through email in the next couple of hours. I received the contract and as I was looking over it I didn't understand some of it so I called the hotel to ask them. They told me that they have nothing to do with the contract and it's through another service, I asked for that service and they said it should be on the email so I called that service. The person there said that they only deal with electronic signing of contracts. They said the hotel itself makes the contract which would make sense. So I called The hotel back again. I called about 10 minutes ago today and got the same guy from when I called 15 minutes before that told me to call that company, explained to him what happened, and he started to get snippy with me saying that's not for them to answer and you have to talk to the other company. Not a help whatsoever. At the end of the conversation I was nice in saying goodbye and also nice the entire time and when said goodbye he just seemed mad about it mumbled something and hung up the whole kind of aggressively in a hurry to be done with the conversation. Not signing a contract that no one has access to in the actual hotel that's about the hotel. read more

I really wanted to rehearse at the desk and asked them yesterday to hunt one down if they could. They provided me with a huge mirror that fit the desk fo my needs. This a Red Roof Inn with a Courtyard sign out front. The good, they do not allow dogs, nothing against dogs I just don't want to sleep in a room that had a dog in it 24 hours before me I have a dander allergy, draft beer selection in the Bistro is surprisingly good, bed was comfortable. downhill from there. The Bad, #1.went in on a Friday, called around noon to see if we could possibly check in early and was told by Michelle that she didn't know if a room would be ready because the hotel was full, we showed up maybe 1:15pm just to try, 3 cars in the parking lot and plenty of rooms we got in no problem, since it took her 2 seconds to respond while on the phone I knew she wasn't really looking in her computer to check anything. #2 key card readers on all the doors leading to rooms and outside look like something that may have been affected by the Y2K bug, ancient. #3 I'm paying $150 a night the least you can do is provide coffee in the lobby, only coffee was from a tiny old coffee maker in the room that splattered water in and around the cup. #4 this hotel is near the highway and that's it, nothing really convenient around there as far as gas or other dining options. #4 room was just ahh, toilet seat was loose, second night I was there the TV reception went out on half the channels, when I asked for this to be fixed they said they would reset it which they did, none of the channels worked after that. I could keep going but i think you get the picture, You can much better than this place. read more

I agree with Jess, this place is a maze; dont park on the other side of the hotel thinking you can cross over, because you can't! A bunch of us stayed here for a baseball tourney over the Labor Day weekend. Love the beds and the pillows and they have a nice patio area with a grill and tables.
