Although he was low in stock and didn't have my beer nor did he have french fries so he made tater tots crispy and made three different types of dips for my tater tots and made a really good chicken bacon sandwich for me. Let's say it's no Miami Marriott, it's very dated. It's not the dirtiest but not the cleans place I have stayed. I was not impressed but for an affordable hotel near Michigan State. It was doable. They never cleaned rooms while I stayed so I had to make multiple trips to front desk for towels. But it's centrally located. Still on fence if I will stay there again. read more

Disgusting. STAY AWAY! We were promised early check in when we called (Eddie). When we arrived, we were told that we couldn't. We had a wedding, and were checked in just in time to get to the wedding on time, but ... When we got to our room, there was black mold on both the air conditioner, and the wall. The staff was sure to move us to a new room, but it was also unacceptable. However, because of our tight (not checked in early) schedule, we didn't notice, as we were racing to get to the wedding on time. In the morning, the disgusting, crusty door handle to the bathroom was discovered, as was the black mold and hair in the shower. When we left, I expressed ro the staff that it was in ill shape, but no one seemed to worried about it, although they were very nice... just, well, not helpful with that. We paid over $179.00 for one night in a gross hotel, and were almost late to the wedding because of it. The only acceptable outcome is a refund for a disgusting room; short of that, I imagine that the only recourse is to share our story (and it's the same story of many of the wedding guests) anywhere I can, so that no one else has to suffer the same fate. read more

As a loyal Marriott customer, this location was very disappointing. The room we were in was drab and terribly worn. We stayed at this location so my grandchildren could swim. The pool was disgustingly filthy! I had to ask everyday for clean towels to be brought to my room, never mind getting the room cleaned. Titanium for life and ambassador status for the last several years. The staff is nice, but this place plays homage to your 1980s homecoming night with Chaad. So much for the decor, the internet works well - don't even order stuff from the bar. The free toiletries that one expects at a Marriott property is kept under lock and key at the front desk. The staff looks like they are on gummies or wish they were anywhere but here. When I saw that the pool was closed it was a red flag...see below. This property is owned by a subsidiary who pays for name and likeness. They don't care as long as they are making money. The property is in disrepair to what one expects in 2020. For me the tub was a dead giveaway. If you're in your 40s or 50s, remember how hard it was to take a shower when you were a kid on a sloped tub? Guess what.. have fun with that ride! read more

Honestly, I am pleased. I think on hotels.com this is 3 stars, but it's a great little place. Only 7 minute drive from MSU and right off the highway for easy access. The double bed room is surprisingly hug with two double beds and a chair at the end by the window. Huge space. The bathrooms are set up great for multiple people because the sink is exterior from the smaller room with the toilet and bathtub/shower. So someone can use the toilet or shower without keeping the other people from using the sink to brush teeth, wash face, do hair, etc. Bed is pretty comfy. Basic cable with HBO but if you have logins for HULU, Netflix, pandora, etc you can log into the tv and watch your fav shows!!! There is a mini fridge and coffee maker. Two bottles waters for $3 so don't take those thinking they are free! Hotel has small fitness room and a pool. They have a market area with coffee and some food. Lots of seating area in the lobby. They give you lotion, two soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. I forgot a toothbrush and toothpaste, called them to inquire, and they brought me up some!!! Good place! read more

Amazing hotel staff!! Super accommodating and they did everything with a smile! The 2 front desk girls deserve a raise, as well as Jimmy who helped us in the morning at team breakfast! I recommend this hotel! We had a very large group for our travel basketball team, and they were so patient and kind. The decor has been updated, and it's very welcoming, the only bummer was that our bathtub needs a coat of paint, as it is chipping as well as the pool was freezing cold. Our little ones only swam for a little while, so that was a bummer, but all of f the amazing kindness made this not a big deal. Great job Lake Lansing road location! read more

I think I am starting to see a trend with Marriott Hotels lately. The Courtyard in Lansing, MI takes the cake in absolute filth. The first room we were in had ants everywhere and old food by the bed. We were then moved to another room and this one was clearly not clean either. I think this is probably the third Marriott I have stayed in over the span of a year where the rooms were not up to par. Perhaps I need to change hotel brands. You would think that with this being a COVID pandemic, the rooms would be spotless. I would highly recommend RUNNING away from this hotel! read more

They have made a great deal of renovations since I stayed here and they look great from the website. The rooms here were great and roomy for 2 and clean which is important. The location is awesome! Right next to the freeway and a large shopping area with places to eat. It's also 10ish minutes away from the MSU campus and is great for out of town guests to stay. read more

It's the nicest of the mid-range hotels within easy striking distance of the MSU campus as it renovated not too long ago. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the housekeeping staff is excellent, front desk is polite and friendly but don't necessarily know much about the area (travel information, local transportation or restaurant choices, anything about MSU). Parking, location are good. Prices are a little excessive when there are home Spartan football games, but still a better deal than some of the more run down places closer to campus. read more

I recently stayed here while I was in town for a business event and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel doesn't look very exciting from the outside, but the inside is full of amenities. The staff were very friendly at both check-in and check-out and provided me with a toothbrush since I forgot mine. The hotel has a mini restaurant and bar with great options if you want to stay inside for dinner or grab a hot breakfast in the morning. The lobby has a nice lounge space with water, TV, and newspapers. I didn't check out the pool, but the pictures looked nice. The hotel is very conveniently located to the highway and a shopping mall with restaurants. I thought the price was a little high since it was almost empty on the night I stayed, but all in all, it was a nice visit. read more

Lanalle was friendly and accommodating and wanted to ensure we had the best experience. The Courtyard by Marriott in Lansing is generally a good hotel. It has a nice interior and the employees are very friendly, but there are a few quirks to the property that weigh heavily on my star rating. First, the rooms are newly updated, the beds are comfortable and they give you a good amount of pillows. All of the decorations were nice and the furnishings are clean and new. The TV is connected to the internet and you can play your Netflix through the large TV while you relax on the half- moon chair/couch in the room. Every employee (except for the airport van driver) that I've encountered have all been extremely friendly. I stepped out of my room for the first time in the morning to find coffee and I hear a good morning from 6 rooms down, I look and the housekeeper is smiling and waving, pushing her cart towards my side of the hallway. We have small conversation and she says have a good day. It was a very nice interaction for first thing after I wake up (before coffee!). The woman in the front desk was super helpful in finding a place to eat, and ultimately, helping me choose breakfast from the Bistro located in the lobby. Now.. the van driver. He did not speak English well. When we asked questions he didn't understand. Someone in my group asked a question and he thought we were talking to him. We chuckled and he stopped the van, turned around and said "did I do something funny to you?". When we said No, he slammed on the gas and drove the rest of the way like a crazy person taking sharp turns and stopping hard. There is only ONE elevator in this hotel, it is in a very strange location right beside a door to the outside. The elevator is nice, but small. All of our rooms were extremely far away from the elevator and there were two staircases on the way to the rooms. That is inconvenient for someone who carries a suitcase + 2-3 extra bags with them. This hotel is not walking friendly. It's located off of a highway and there is NOTHING around it in the way of food. If you want to go anywhere you have to cross the highway on foot or go by car. Lastly, the deadbolt lock on my room looked as though it had been broken before and that made me uncomfortable. All in all, it was a nice, clean and friendly place, but as I said, it just has a few quirks that mean a lot to me as an avid traveler. read more

Husband booked this place on a whim for a Friday night, as he was taking his big engineering exam the next day at Lansing Center, and didn't want to travel too far. I decided to tag along and offer moral support. The location is right off US-127 at Lake Lansing Rd. exit. Conveniently right off the exit, but getting into it is a little tricky. You need to turn at Kerry St. (where there is a Mobil gas station), and then make another left to get into the plaza. To the right, there is a small business park, and to the left, there is a Mexican restaurant called La Senorita. Parking is spread around the premise, and I wasn't used to a 2-level Courtyard Marriott. The interior is pretty standard, with the updated red/gold carpet. Since we had a second level room, up the stairs we went. As a previous Yelper had mentioned, this hotel doesn't have an elevator. For me, it's not a big deal, as I didn't have much to carry, but I think this would be a major problem for any person who is handicapped or has a lot of luggage. I mean, you can seriously lose a TON of business just based on this. I really believe that this Marriott should strongly consider updating with an elevator. Our room was nice and spacious. The mini fridge was pretty depressing looking though, and it was placed directly on the floor. Not only was it on the floor, but it was super noisy, so Husband and I unplugged it. Just the fact that it was left outside in the open made the room look cheap. At least, if they were going to do that, put out a mini fridge that wasn't dirty or had chipped paint. Vanity/sink and bathroom area were standard and separate, so that was nice. The lighting was a bit off putting because the wall sconce had natural lighting, but then the sink area had super bright fluorescent bulbs. I'm not a fan of fluorescent lighting in general, so it would have been nice if all lighting was consistent. Comfort level of the bed was a 6 out of 10; not bad, but not great. The covers were at clean though and had the right amount of weight to it for a cool evening. Desk area was a good size, and the couch was small for the room. Wifi was okay, but was really painfully slow in the evening. Other than those hours, the connection speed was fine. Overall, this Courtyard is definitely sub par to some of other Courtyards in bigger cities. The addition of an elevator would certainly increase the value of this hotel, and although the lobby and market area are nice and updated with the Marriott brand, the rooms could use the same finesse (at least our room). Customer service was good, and it is a good location if you want to be near the Downtown Lansing area (it is about a 5 minute drive). However, for $110 with AAA discount, I feel that this place is overpriced for its overall condition. I wouldn't mind staying here again if I had to, but I will definitely look for other options before I settle on this Courtyard. read more

This was a decent place to stay at in Lansing. It is also in a walking distance from a shopping center with several restaurants across the street. I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The first room they put me in had a nice patio and pretty courtyard view. However I was in a connected room and heard all the noise the maid was making next door around 3:00 PM so I asked to be moved to a non connecting room. They moved me to a room with a view of the parking lot, but at least it had easy access to leave and go to the shopping center and was right near the tiny exercise room. The major downside was that I didn't get Internet in this room. I had to tether my phone. Inconvenient but I didn't feel like complaining since I already switched once. In the morning I ate from the breakfast restaurant. Really good food and a nicely decorated area. The servers bring the food to your table. You do have to pay for food here but it'd much better than what you may expect. The wait staff and front desk staff were definitely courteous. The workout room was ok. It's a bit cramped. Three treadmills, an elliptical and a bench with free weights. The machines are hooked to TVs and there are towels and a water fountain, and cups. It over headed in there fast. I'd stay here again. When I left I mentioned the Internet issue and they gave me reward points for my troubles. They gave me free bottled water too upon leaving. read more

Was here for graduation from MSU and couldn't have been more please! They obviously knew it was graduation weekend and had it all Sparty-ed out with a nice welcome sign for graduates. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The people at the desk Jenn, Sherry and Greg were awesome! They gave some great recommendations for late night dinner and even helped solve the issues we encountered with getting it delivered! They really went above and beyond! read more

I want to try and like this Courtyard ... mainly because of the excellent customer service and for that very reason - I will give it 4 stars. First, no elevator ... I know- I know if your up on the second floor though - you will get your cardio on ... actually it's not bad at all, just a couple of flights of stairs no more then 12 or 14 steps total. Here is what I liked, the front desk employee saw me looking a little lost (as I was wondering where the elevator was) and she sent a "bell hopper" to me... he asked very kindly "can I help you sir" and I said "yes, please point me in the direction of your elevator" ... at this point, he said "sir, I am your elevator" ... he then went on to explain that "his hotel would be getting an elevator in the next few months and that I should come back" ... he was great and made good out of a potential bad. To add, I saw him hustling throughout the hotel a few times and every time he saw me he stopped and made sure that I was good. Second, at the Bistro - the sandwich I ordered chicken/almond on croissant...I know - I know - it sounds good...well they ran out of croissant roles so I had it on another type of bread and it was just o.k. The employee working the Bistro was pretty awesome though...great service and did what she could to make the situation right. Third, the gym ... 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and some free weights. The gym was not big but I had plenty of room to do some weight lifting and stretches. Fourth, the room...nice size, well kept, and very clean. The bed was comfortable and I always love when I have a refrigerator. However, the TV was not working well, I had to turn it off and on a few times...but it did work after I turned it off and back on. Yes, I was disappointed the hotel did not have an elevator, disappointed about my sandwich, and disappointed about the TV. Nonetheless, I value excellent customer service and from the check-in counter, to the bell hop, to the bistro, to the "good morning" greetings I received from the morning staff - this hotel lives, breathes, and executes excellent customer service. So...for that very reason as I listed above.... I give it 4 stars! read more

I booked my boyfriend and I's stay through Priceline, paying in full prior to the check in date. Upon arrival, my boyfriend used his card to pay the $13 parking charge. After leaving, my boyfriend's card was charged in full for our stay, that was already paid for on my card a month before. This charge not only over-drafted his bank account with an additional charge from the bank, we have yet to receive the full refund or letter (to the bank to refund the overdraft charge) that we were promised and guaranteed on 5-6 separate occasions now by the manager of the hotel. It has been one month since our stay and I have been in contact every week, promising another 3-5 business days for our full refund that was double charged. This is extremely disappointing and we will never be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Lansing downtown ever again. read more

Marriott thinks of the small things, like a couch, a sink outside the bathroom, the bed being against your inside wall to help u not hear your neighbors, and an a/c unit that will stay on all night for noise I stay mostly at Holiday Inn Express' around the State of MI when on the road for work, because there are more of them; but I wish there were more Marriott properties because they are just better places to stay No free breakfast at Courtyard though, kind of a pain read more

This Courtyard Stay was the first for me. I usually stay at Hilton or Holiday Inn properties but this site was recommended by my company. Be warned that the hallways are long and if you get a low # room like 202, you'll be walking a while to arrive there. The lobby area restaurant is expensive and tends to have long lines in the AM hours. My experience was that there was no one there when I tried to get a cup of coffee at 6:15AM. I paid more than $5 for a bottled water and a juice. I chose not to buy anything else after that. The set up of the room furniture could be better as they place the writing desk right in front of the AC so you'll freeze while trying to work on your computer. The rooms have layers of dust on the furniture and the sofa was something I stayed off. I didn't trust it for cleanliness. The toilet flushes slow and rises to the top like it is going to overflow. The fitness room tends to be ice cold. The one positive is the location with shops/restaurants right across Lake Lansing road and easy access to the expressway. Myself and a colleague stayed here and both have changed hotels for our upcoming trips for the next 4 weeks. We've advised our company to not recommend to our other team members for any subsequent lodging. read more

I'm going to preface this by apologizing if this review comes off sounding obnoxious - forgive me...I am a platinum elite Marriott member, it's safe to say I've stayed at my fair share of different Marriott properties for several years now, that being said I have come to have clear expectations for my stay - this property, did not meet my expectations. I booked my weekend stay at this Courtyard with my Marriott points, upon arrival the front desk staff was well put together and friendly. I was happy to hear they had upgraded us to a suite (with the level of points I've achieved if an upgrade is available I receive it). However, I had to ask about my market gift (this is where I know I sound obnoxious). I typically use the gift to get Starbucks in the morning and have never had to ask before, she was friendly and said I could come down in the morning and just tell the Bistro staff I was using my gift. We got up to the room, I was pleasantly surprised to see how large it was, however it wasn't as clean as I am used to seeing from a Courtyard. At first glance it was fine, but when you look at it, the stationary on the desk looked as if water had been spilled on it/it was crinkled a bit, there were cups not in plastic coverings, the microwave had been set to the wrong time (2pm when it's 11)...those sorts of things, which I can overlook it's just below the expectation of what's been set by other Courtyards for example: I wanted to put some waters in the mini fridge, only to find the temperature had been turned down and what I assume was ice melted, the entire fridge was full of water, that dripped out onto the floor - I've never had something like that overlooked at other Marriott properties before. The bathroom was quite large, had an updated shower (which I definitely appreciate) but the toilet made continuous noise and the vent fan didn't want to work and made an awful screeching noise that I couldn't stop - the only work around was not having the light on and leaving the door open for other light in the room. There was also a lack of outlets to charge my devices. On the morning of our departure I went down to use my gift at Starbucks - there were 4 girls standing around the bistro talking, I asked to use my gift and was told they could only do regular coffee (totally okay, I've just always gotten specialty drinks with it so I was a bit taken back). I asked for a regular coffee with room for cream, one of girls seemed a bit annoyed with me. She asked if I wanted skim or half and half, I asked for half and half, she made a bit of a grumble noise and walked to the back - came back with a carton and sat it down for me. I opened it, poured the creamer, and walked away. I'm not sure if I was interrupting something or what the ordeal was there but I've never felt so uncomfortable or more of a nuisance ordering coffee at the bistro before. The hotel is in a great location, but I think this specific location is in need of a renovation and more attention spent to detail. I think on my next trip back to the area I will either stay with another chain. read more

Poor customer service. Ran over a boulder in the parking lot and destroyed our rental car. The manager refused to come out and talk to us. I'm an elite card member. The incident Required us to rent another car one way back to Chicago and another $1000 dollars. The boulder has no business in the lot and obviously people have hit it before. read more

I am sitting in the Bistro trying to relax and have some wine and a bite to eat. A ton of screaming teenage girls are in the lobby and restaurant without parents. Very distracting.. blasting music, no one here at the hotel is even saying a work to them even though the Bistro has paying customers! Really, this is when I would have been told to go to the teen area and out of the restaurant. I want to toss my high heal at them! read more

I've stayed at a lot of Courtyards and this one strikes me as a bit dated. As usual with Marriott properties, the staff was very nice and helpful, but the rooms were just okay. I had a particularly loud heating unit that sounded like the Ghost of Christmas past every few minutes while I was sleeping. Besides that, my stay was nice, the place is big, and there's an indoor hotel. I also appreciate they have one of those systems that allow for easy boarding pass access in their lobby. For my Marriott rewards points, I'd stay there again and again. I just wouldn't expect the premium experience. read more

We had a very pleasant stay here. My mother and I came to unwind and relax. The staff was amazing Lanelle really enjoy working with the guests and goes out of her way to help. Derrick at the bistro was pretty cool and attentive while dining and drinking. Only down side is the handicapped bathrooms are still out dated with a funny smell upon entering our room, and the pool wasn't initially heated but was eventually. I would stay here again while in the area. read more

There is only 1 elevator and if you are on the opposite side of hotel - it is a hike to carry all of your stuff. I am always carrying 2 bags and a suitcase - Very inconvenient! Management at this location seems to be more concerned with the "money grab" opposed to the concerns of its potential customers. This business practice usually spills over into other areas of the organization so I would be cautious with this location in particular. I have had fabulous customer-to-company interactions with other Marriott facilities outside of this one. I booked travel with the Courtyard Lansing and apparently spoke with an ill informed reservation specialist. I was given an inaccurate cancellation window and tried to plead my case to staff and eventually management. I was treated as if i was fabricating my story and was dismissed in a very rude and snarky manner. To give context - I tried to cancel 14 days prior to arrival during a "special event". I was charged $750 for a 2 night stay and the hotel was at capacity (Meaning the company could've easily filled my cancellation but decided they wanted to prove some sort of point). With that said, I would be steer clear of this location to avoid a similar scenario. I hope this helps with your decision! read more
