The Courtyard in Jacksonville was conveniently located and had higher reviews than my alternatives, but the stay was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the hotel has great amenities: a large fitness room with a variety of equipment, a nice pool area for warmer weather, EV chargers, and guest laundry. The Wi-Fi and cable were fine, and the service at the Bistro for breakfast was very friendly and helpful. However, my room was disappointing for a renovated hotel. There was paint on the door handle, a missing section in a wall corner, and surprising mold in the bathroom. I was also unsure whether the towels above the toilet were fresh or had been left by a previous guest. Who puts towels above a toilet anyway? Most frustratingly, the curtain track was broken and wouldn't close completely, letting the light in all night, so I didn't sleep well. Even the refrigerator was an issue, as it froze the salad I brought back for breakfast. Once it sat out, it was okay, though, and maybe it actually kept it fresher, but it was still unexpected. While the amenities and Bistro staff were great, the lack of attention to detail in the room's maintenance and housekeeping was a letdown. read more

Happily surprised by my stay here at Marriott! I found this location to be of great value for what was spent. My room was comfortable and clean. The wear and tear was not too bad. I stayed in a king bed suite on the third floor that was close to the elevators. I didn't hear much noise in the hallway while I slept. I love the lobby! It felt warm and inviting! All the staff were so friendly and polite. I got breakfast from the bistro. It came out hot and fresh! Great quality ingredients and good flavor. The parking lot is spacious and they have EV stations. I think I saw at least three! Lots of shopping and eateries around in walking distance. read more

This review is more of a 3.5. After reading the reviews I was really excited to stay here. While this is definitely one of the nicest place to stay in Jacksonville, I was very confused if it was trying to be a "nicer than usual" hotel or just a hotel with good rates. The prices were very reasonable for what you get. Rooms are nice- really low on lighting though and no microwave. Pillows on beds are extremely soft. But clean- updated and nice. The interior and lobby looks classy and nice but way too much cleaning product smell. It lasted the three days I was there. Very overpowering. The part that I didn't understand was the pool area. The outside area is so run down and outdated. Plus, there were signs everywhere that the pool was closed. I called to make sure it was still closed and they told me to use their sister property's pool. I went over there to do that. Apparently, the pool wasn't really closed cause about 20 kids were in it when I returned from the other property. All of the signs were still posted though. That was a big inconvenience. I would stay here again though. They had a nice bistro, too. . read more

For more than 15years we have stayed at Marriott properties and had great experiences un now. What happened to service that Marriot was known for.No longer is room cleaning provided unless you stay for 4 days. Even when they do clean they do not vacuum the room, wipe table tops or change bed linen. Each day we had to empty our own trash cans and ask for new towels. One used to get all the services before Covid but not now. There is no explanation of what is offered at check in unless you ask. Even corporate stated each facility operates different at and each has their own quality of standards. No longer can one expect quality customer service anymore. read more

We were on the top floor, and oddly, we could hear the roof sounds (wind - sounded like someone moving furniture) while in the bathroom. We couldn't hear it from the bedroom, so we slept well. I want to give a shout out to the front desk person on the night shift on March 3, 2023. My profile states no feather pillows, but I had 6 feather pillows in my room upon arrival. The front desk person exchanged all 6 of them for us. Although I still awoke in the morning with some wheezing, I know she tried and did so with a positive attitude. It wasn't her fault, but she went out of her way to own the mistake and make it right. Well done and very appreciated! Ultimately, we'd stay here again! read more

I'll start with the good: Breakfast was wonderful. Standard hotel prices. It's not cheap, but you know what to expect. The breakfast servers and cooks were wonderful. Professional, friendly and helpful. The food was good. (And they have Starbucks) The lobby is sanitized regularly. It smells clean, and looks neat and orderly. The bed in my room is comfortable. I am the person, depending on why I'm traveling, who brings a comforter along with me. I worked for a hotel in college and I discovered that they do not clean the comforter, only the sheets and pillow cases. The bad: At check in, I discovered that I was given misinformation when booking the room. Mind you, I booked the room 2 hours before showing up. Not a lot of wiggle room for severe changes. I was told there would be dinner that evening, there wasn't. I had to go out into town. The lady at the front desk handled me being a little upset very professionally. Then she tried to run my husbands card and said it declined. He had to call and speak with her, to find out that she typed the card in wrong over the phone. My room was fine, however; the couch in my room was filthy to the touch. I ran a sanitation cloth over it and it was black. I put the hotels comforter over it before sitting down. The shower door needs to be resealed. It won't close and water goes everywhere. While cleaning up the water, the towel was brown from the dirty floor. I discovered this morning that you need to make an appointment to use the gym. This was never mentioned. "Do you have a fitness center?" "Yes" was all that was disclosed. The fitness center had cobwebs in every corner. The equipment was clean from the other two appointments who stared at me confused when I walked in. In the evening, I had called the front desk and asked for a throw blanket. I was in my pajamas and already showered, I had no intentions of going downstairs again. Miss informed me I'd be better off coming down to get it. I said "no, that's quite alright, I'll wait" she said "well it's gonna be a really... really... REALLY long time before I can bring it up, you might as well come get it." I reminded her for the third time I don't mind waiting. Two minutes later it was at my door. She was young, so I'm not holding it against her. I did worse when I worked at a hotel. But I was definitely put off by the experience. I haven't called the front desk to ask for anything else. Would I stay here again? Yes. This is the best it gets in Jacksonville, NC. Right here. Other than this hotel, I've stayed at the Hampton inn. These are the only two acceptable overnight stays in the area. Edit: I would not have stayed here had I known that there would be no dinner. Two nights in a row the same lady at the desk told me that there WOULD be then turned around and said there ISNT. This is totally unacceptable. read more

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Jacksonville in Jacksonville, NC. Ray at the front desk was phenomenal with assisting me with anything I needed. He showed awesome customer service and when I had a dilemma with checking out, he provided a solution that met my needs and was cost effective. Will forever stay here and anyone else should too. He has been working the night shift and having great customer service while checking in at night when you come from a long drive or flight, it really helps make the stay that much better. BEWARE - at this hotel they do NOT CLEAN ROOMS! Sure you'll be provided with some new towels, but this property is somehow still in operation while refusing to properly clean rooms daily; it's stated that housekeeping is available upon request (which we did request) only to receive a new set of towels with the rest of the room completely untouched. Upon speaking with someone else we were informed that under Marriott's policy for this property, rooms are automatically cleaned every sixth night. WHAT A JOKE! Love the nooks and crannies in the lobby where groups could meet to work or visit. Pool area looked very inviting. Lobby is clean and well maintained. Bed comfort was good. I honestly don't know why there aren't more reviews of this hotel. It's absolutely lovely and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. From the Bistro (you can even get in room service) with a bar, to what appears to be a fully equipped gym, the multiple PC stations in the lobby and the patio grouping sets poolside this should be a favorite among travelers. There's even a big screen tv and electric fire around one of the patio sets outside. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn down the street but decided on a whim to check this one out. It was a smidge more but totally worth it. I had the large queen room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa. The sofa was more like a half moon chaise and while it was not used for sleeping I did spend the majority of my non sleeping time relaxing on it. It was SUPER comfy. Wish I had one of these at home. My usual issues with hotels is the sounds from other guests. The only time I heard others was my initial night which was due to the large Marine party they were having with folks milling poolside and on my checkout day I heard the next room come and go (like children do on a summer day) and I think this was mainly due to me being in the bathroom which is up front near the door. The doors are quite heavy which would lead me to believe they're cushioned for sound. I liked the modern touches to this room. I had planned on getting more pictures but time got away from me and I wanted to hit the road for home this morning. This is now my go to place for visits with my friends. First time staying at this location. Staff was nice, however powerless (Supervisor Sasha) ... they have a $20 hold requirement for incidentals to be put on credit card. I offered $300 cash, as my cards were packed up in my luggage in car. Supervisor Sasha said yes, that will do but then as I'm heading to my room she says I may need to call my GM to confirm... and of course he said no. So I had to trek back to the car and go through my luggage to find my credit cards. Not the ideal situation when one has been traveling all day. So I will take off 1-star for that. However I will say my room was nice &clean, and I slept sound. Will I stay again... Yes, and I'll make sure to have my credit card readily available. read more

I would highly recommend avoiding this place! Poor management! Locked titanium elite members out after 11 AM, even though they had requested a late check out, refused to give complementary water saying "we don't do that here!". The place is poorly managed, not kept up very well, and the gym is basically empty with dirty machines that are outdated and barely work. No towels in the gym, no yoga mats, and just not a welcoming place overall. The place has a lot of potential and wouldn't be so awful but the poor customer service just tops it off. Amazing location. Clean lobby and hotel room. The pool is open contrary to the website. The site still asks guests to wear masks in common spaces which made us feel a little more comfortable. The staff are warm and friendly. You do have to get extra towels from the front desk which was not an issue for us. The wall paper in the hallway is peeling; small aesthetic flaw. The pool was right where are window was located and the guests using the pools were a little loud for a week day night (close to 10pm). What matters most is the staff were nice and my room was clean. Otherwise, We were disappointed with how hot and muggy the hallways were, how unkept the pool areas was, and that no one had cleaned up the outside sitting area from the previous night. Not to mention the fireplace was broken and unsafe for children. The outside TV speakers did not work either. Just found a house centipede in my room. I thought no big deal since it was cold outside. The bug however was on a curtain behind a couch making it difficult to deal with it without a spray. I called guest services about the bug issue and requested for a can of bug spray and the hostess proceeded to laugh at my expense and asked if I was "afraid" of the bug several times. She informed me she could not leave the desk since she was the only one on duty. She exclaimed this to a third person who I could hear on the other end. I told her it sounds like you are talking with someone now and she mentioned she was on her personal phone relaying the conversation. I requested for them to spray the room tomorrow and hung up the phone. The fact that the hostess decided to ridicule me really pissed me off and I will be checking out tomorrow morning. Stayed here for 2 nights 4/12&13/16. This hotel is so new it still smells new. That was kind of awesome, haha. Now technically I'd give this place 4.75 stars, but since you can only give full star ratings, I went with 5. Below are the VERY few negatives that made me want to drop a quarter of a star. This place is pretty damn nice, but the room's mini-ridge is so tiny that it barely holds anything. We're talking drink fridge size, not made for bringing leftovers back to your room. Which brings me to, NO microwave. So, if you do bring something back, forget about heating it up in your room. They do have a micro in the lobby/market that you might be able to use, I just didn't have a need so I didn't ask. They do have a laundry facility, brand new, works great! However they charge $1.00 per machine. They will provide you with detergent at the front desk if you ask, however. Downside is, for this huge hotel they only have 1 of each machine. But while I was here I did my laundry and I didn't have to wait on anyone. The machines worked great! Now, for the positives! What an amazingly friendly staff. They were all very accommodating during our stay. They have a bistro downstairs open for breakfast and then later in the evening for dinner. Their coffee is Starbucks so it's expensive, but their not uptight about how you order it, so feel free to ask for a black medium coffee without anyone getting their panties in a twist. Their evening menu looks pretty epic, wish I had gotten a chance to try it. Something in my room said you could call down and order something but there was no menu in my room so I just never bothered to get one and try it. So possibly room service? Maybe! The room was immaculate and the bed was so very comfortable! Had such an amazing night of sleep both nights we were there. Large TV on the wall with cable, stunning bathroom with an amazing magnified mirror that I wished I owned, and the hotel uses Paul Mitchell for their guest bath items. Loved the lemon sage hand lotion! We had a neighbor and we never heard her. Didn't know she was there until the next morning when we were going down for coffee at the same time. So she was either silent as a dormouse or the walls aren't paper-thin! She walked out of her room talking on her phone so I'll assume the walls aren't paper-thin. Score! Free wifi, always a bonus. Apparent you can pay to upgrade to faster wifi, but I was streaming HULU and Netflix on the free wifi with no lag, so that's pretty decent in my book. They also have a market in the lobby to purchase snacks and drinks if it's late and you want to go out. You can pay with cash, card, or just charge it to your room and pay when you check out. They have amazing government rates, so make sure you have your government ID ready if you request those. Strange check-in time though. Their sign said 3pm, but we were able to check in earlier than this. Maybe if they're busy this is the case. Great place, if you're passing through and looking for comfort, quiet, and no smoking, this is it! Seriously, love the smell of this place! read more

If you find yourself needing a place to stay in Jacksonville NC, I'd recommend this hotel. We arrived close to 10:00pm after a long drive from PA. Check in was seamless, rooms very clean, but what really impressed me was the helpfulness of the staff. The grille/bar in the lobby was about to close when we arrived (10:00 on a Friday night), but were willing to stay open later so that we could place orders for food and beverages. Southern hospitality for sure! We were very grateful. read more

Decided at the last minute to go to the beach Memorial Day weekend but didn't want to pay beach prices so we looked at Jacksonville which was about 30min away. Courtyard had gotten good reviews on Expedia and they weren't wrong! This is an excellent hotel. New, modern and immaculate. Nice lobby and friendly staff. Rooms are comfy and super clean. No bathtub though but a glass shower (which I prefer). Would definitely stay here again. One thing to note - there is no complimentary breakfast! Have to pay for breakfast and it was a little pricey...... if I'm going to pay $8 for eggs I'll go to IHOP down the street and get eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Which is what we did. So if free breakfast isn't a dealbreaker then I highly recommend this hotel absolutely read more

I was set to have my wedding at your hotel on 5/23/2020. I have spoke with Tydrea Russell who was excited and very helpful with the information she has given to me to get started. Unfortunately, when we came back to go over the contract she was no longer employed with the hotel. I spoke with Sarah Jenkins who stated she was in charge and she had taken the place of Ms. Russell. I explain to Ms. Jenkins the contract Ms. Russell had drawn for us. Ms. Jenkins asked for a copy of my contract even though she stated she already had one from Ms. Russell. The issue that concerns me are that we are now getting different prices and a run around when attempting to make contact with Ms. Jenkins. I had email, call and stopped by to speak with Ms. Jenkins. My fiance have taken days off work and stopped to speak with Ms. Jenkins. He even left his phone number awaiting a phone call. All of this was to no avail. I'm so so disappointed on this hotel and the outcome that we received. I would think spending over $10,000.00 on venue, reception and rooms we would have been on some type of priority list. Place was great, they have a great resturant downstairs. The room was cleaned well. The rooms were dark at night and the beds were very comfortable. This is one of the better hotels i have stayed at in a while. The service was great. I would stay here again and suggest this place to others. read more

We stayed for 3 nights and while it was a bit pricier than some of the other hotels in the area, it's tucked away so it's quiet and the customer service was top notch. The pool area is small but clean and always well maintained. There's always a lot of maintenance staff and janitorial staff working hard to keep the place in tip top shape. The patio area by the pool is great at night to lounge and relax by. Overall it's a great spot and I would love to stay here again! read more

This hotel was clean very accommodating. Everyone was friendly and professional . It certainly exceeded our expectations. I loved the close proximity to local restaurants and to the marine corp base. My family came into town to visit and stayed here. I have to say they praised A housekeeper that works there. They asked her her name cause she had no name tag lol. But they said Jody was absolutely amazing. That she was extremely sweet polite and friendly. So this is the first time I have had a bad experience with a Marriott, when we ( me and 5 other coworkers ) checked in we were offered a 10 dollar a day food and beverage credit we are here for 3 months thought ok good deal. WRONG the fine print is no where to be found they say the day is 4pm to 4pm. and the manager did not train his all of hotel staff not to charge the rooms so did and some didn't, so we get the hotel bill with charges for food that was supposed to be credit and now the manager will not take them off and just said sorry. This is not just me but it happened to all my coworkers. Mind you these are company cards that cannot have food charges. Thanks Miguel Murillo for working with us NOT! Horrible manager will never stay here again as long as he is the manager. The only reason for 2 stars is the rest of the staff was awesome. read more

Beautiful modern hotel. We stayed 1 night before our drive south with family. Hotel and room were beautiful, very clean, modern, and Michael at the front desk was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Room had a pull out twin size sleeper sofa. Breakfast was served in the lobby, but had to pay for it. Hotel had an outdoor pool, but we didn't have time to use it. Beds were super comfy with lots of fluffy pillows provided. As a Marriott Rewards Member trying to rack up on points I've stayed here on 3 different occasions since they opened mid September of last year and I've had an amazing experience all 3 times. I used to stay at the TownPlace Suites down the road which I also highly recommend but I enjoy the new amenities and design of this one. The staff is definitely professional and kind! The guests that I've encountered there are also well behaved and friendly. I don't have any complaints, I just recommend maybe updating the fridges in the room to bigger ones.
