What appears to be dried blood at the bottom of the bath tub

This hotel does not live up to the standards of the Marriott brand. When we walked off the elevator we were immediately hit with a hot hallway that smelled of old, musty cigarette smoke. After walking in to our room, we found a roach on our wall, and dust balls hanging from the ceiling above the bed. We couldn't get the AC to cool down so my husband went downstairs to request a room. While we checked in at 11 pm and planned to leave by 8 am (just an overnight stay to break up our 14 hour drive), the room given to us was absolute filth. In the meantime while my husband was downstairs talking to customer service, I went into the bathroom and there was either rust, or what looked like dried blood on the bottom of the bathtub. I was mortified. The next room was better although the white shower curtain had a bunch of black dirt or mold on it. My husband wanted me to share the man at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I used a free night certificate which sucks I lost, but I would've been more mad if I paid $150 for that night (which was the cost when I went to book). I am a loyal Marriott customer, but this looked like a Motel 8 at best.

Overall pretty good place. Last night, great receptionist (female) but tonight I called the receptionist (male) about the issues with internet TV and HBO to go service, says connection lost every couple of minutes, literally like every two minutes but keeps playing in background - so "dude" was super rude, absolutely unhelpful, said I had to log in and that I was wrong that they offer this service and basically he doesn't know anything and then told me he had to go. Like WHAT?!? Clearly says "free with stay". Anyways - overall pretty good place except dude at desk and shoddy WiFi.

This is a cute little coffee shop / gift shop type of place in downtown Decatur. Being that it's downtown, parking is a little bit of a hassle. I didn't have a hard time finding a spot midday on a Wednesday, but be careful backing out as you're backing right into the street. Inside, the shop is spacious and decorated nicely. It felt airy and peaceful and I could easily see myself catching up with a friend or reading or something. They have a midsize coffee menu, serve Piper and Leaf tea, and have some typical coffeeshop snacks (pastries, etc). One nice feature is a fridge with take and bake type meals and appetizers. That can prove really useful in a pinch! Service was extra nice here: welcoming smiles, patient with questions, and working efficiently. I appreciated that you can actually order a small iced coffee here. Many places only do iced in medium or large portion sizes. The small was just enough to perk me up for the ride home, but not so much I'd have to stop for a restroom, lol. I ordered an iced peppermint mocha as that's pretty much my favorite coffee drink of all time. This one was a good one! Not too strong on the peppermint and a discernible - maybe even stronger than average - chocolatey taste. Like a liquid thin mint! :) I enjoyed my drink on my drive home and look forward to returning for more next time I find myself in the area.

Conveniently Located Downtown Hotel…read more I recently stayed in the Fairfield Inn and Suites in downtown Decatur while in the area for business. The hotel rooms were reasonably priced and centrally located. If you are travelling for business, this hotel makes sense as it is relatively new and has many amenities that a business traveller would want. The gym is large and fully equipped for a good workout as it offers multiple options for cardio, including exercise bikes, treadmills, a rower and elipticals, combined with a universal, free weights and kettlebells. The hotel also had a medium-sized pool and a lounge area for swimmers and parents to watch their kids. The rooms are the newer Fairfield style with modern amenities. I had a standard king room with enough room to lay out my yoga mat and easily store my suitcases. The room was clean, the bathrooms were clean, the wifi was easy to connect to and I had plenty of outlets for charging my devices. The lobby is spacious, with enough room for a mix of couples, individuals, and groups to hang out. The breakfast has enough seating, and the free breakfast offers hot and cold choices that can accommodate most diets. Parking is tricky, and I suggest unloading your bags when you check in or register. There is some limited street parking and a parking structure in the back of the hotel. Please note that you have to take your bags and walk them to the hotel from every level of the garage. The garage has no elevator, just stairs. I had to roll my suitcases to the staircase, lift them over a curb and then carry them down a flight of stairs. The other options are wheeling them from where you park and down the ramos and then to the back entrance of the hotel. Alternatively, there is a small area with posts blocking the alley where you can unload from as well. Overall, I had a great stay, and the hotel was central to all the places I needed to go.
