This is a nice place to hold a wedding and reception. The "antebellum" home [or, in their words:…read more"Manor house for brides' spa day, event center, and grooms house"] is pretty and would be an ideal location for a bride-to-be to get ready with her attendants prior to a wedding. I didn't explore the entire home, just most of the downstairs. It contained a full large kitchen an enclosed kind of back porch area with a ping pong table, a living room, formal room with a baby grand piano, pretty chandeliers, and was chock full of antiques and furnishings. I think it is connected to a separate area which may be designated for the groom and groomsmen to get ready for the wedding, but I'm not 100 percent sure about that. Some photos on their website show 1 set up for weddings on the front lawn of this house. It looks like a really pretty option with lots of large beautiful old trees surrounding it and manicured shrubbery. Adjacent to this is the outdoor area my nephew and his fiancée selected for their nuptials. It is semi-shaded with the aisle consisting of rustic flat steps and more rustic slate-ish stones forming a sort of "altar" area. They draped this area [the primary tree backdrop] with a veil of sorts and some simple, elegant flowers attached to branches. Behind you as you face the altar is rows and rows of grapevines. They are really striking. It would be great if it were a functional vineyard. Also behind you as you face the altar is a large permanent tent, ideal for a reception. It was nicely appointed with a dance floor, 8 top round draped tables, a large-ish buffet table, auxiliary tables with various waters and donuts, men's and women's restrooms, pretty lighting, ceiling fans and a really striking chandelier. It's a peaceful "off the beaten" path venue and looks like there is a lot to explore with water on site and maybe horses [based on their website photos]. Mooresville in general, is really lovely and a nice tiny place to drive around and look at all the lovely estates! I've always been intrigued by "Historic Mooresville's beautiful 1839 Brick Church with its tall antique glass windows affording views of the peaceful green of Mooresville. The well-proportioned Greek Revival architecture is perfect in its simplicity and doesn't need much decoration." The reason for no 5th star is the grounds, especially with all the rain we have had lately, are/can be muddy. Although ample gravel parking is available and they will transport guests via their 2 golf carts, ladies' heels absolutely sink in the mud/wet earth. I recommend bringing flats, and/or shoes you don't care about to alleviate the potential mud. Overall, this is a lovely venue!

Venue is beautiful for a wedding, not a single complaint as to the actual house or reception space…read moreor the "getting ready" spaces. Only negative is that the owner of this property is one of the rudest, most condescending women I've ever met. She screamed at multiple people throughout the night and I would recommend finding a different venue for that reason alone.
