I hired Goldberg Legal for my divorce and custody case and was dropped as a client right before…read moretrial without warning, without an attorney, and without even an offer to seek a continuance on my behalf. It was a waste of time and money. Their stated reason was that I hadn't submitted required documents. I had. And at no point did anyone notify me that additional documents were needed. When a paralegal informed me that more motions were expected from my ex and that costs could reach $90,000, my natural reaction was shock "how am I going to pay for that?" When I brought this up, they said I said I couldn't afford them. Then the attorney said they never said that (his paralegal said it it on the phone). I was already stressed and losing sleep over a high-stakes custody case. That comment was used as grounds to drop me entirely along with some documents that I sent (but never heard back they needed more info). A top attorney I consulted afterward told me they did not have sufficient grounds to remove me as a client. He also flagged that their contract contained typos and unclear language so read everything carefully before signing anything with this firm. Beyond the dramatic ending, the day-to-day experience was frustrating. No proactive check-ins like I'd received from other attorneys. The paralegal would regularly keep me on the phone discussing non-logistical topics while looking through materials that clearly could have been reviewed beforehand all billable time on my dollar. When they dropped me, they offered no solutions, no referrals, no empathy, nothing. They kept forcing me to sign a sub of attorney doc (the other attorney said that did not make sense because I had no sub and they had been making me sign this since the day after they said they were dropping my case abruptly). I was always respectful throughout this entire process and gave them no legitimate grounds to remove me. They simply left me stranded at the most critical moment of a custody case. If you want reliable representation and to actually protect your money, I would not use this firm. There are much better firms out there, especially for the cost. In the end I'm glad I'm not giving them my money as I see how flakey they are. Also, I was self representing for some things in court after that which didn't cost me anything and it was much better than having them there. As a single parent, the worst thing to happen during a contentious case is someone to drop you without sufficient grounds over night and having to start the costly process all over again with a new attorney.

I've been in communication with this law firm for two months. For the first month, it was extremely…read moredifficult to make contact, but finally when I did I was explicitly asked to complete a list of tasks that require me to hire, licensed plumbers, electricians, framers, roofers, landscape, architects, etc., which cost me tens of thousands of dollars to compile the requested evidence to make a case. I spent all the money and even hired a project manager that was the contractor that built a portion of the framing when the home was originally built. Finally, I had enough evidence to schedule a preliminary call and shared the evidence. The attorney acknowledge that there are damages, and a pretty solid lawsuit. About a week later I got an email from the attorney stating that he can't take the case because he is too busy. Really a bummer after spending so much money to follow the instructions given to me by Tom Borchard all for it to be a very expensive wild goose chase. I wish that he was honest with me from the get-go about his caseload and the probability that his plate would be too full. I'm not saying that he's a bad attorney. I'm not saying that he did anything negligent or with intent. I'm saying is that I was instructed to jump through a lot of hoops, all the wild being positively assured that if I follow those steps, then he would take the case. Turned out that I hadn't been informed that all of the work that went into providing the investigation that he proposed necessary, would all end up being a waste of time and money because didn't disclose that after we do our part, he still may prioritize another case. Now, I have had subsequent conversations with Tom since and he has explained why he can't take the case, but I believe it's a day late and tens of thousands of dollars short. It wouldn't be fair to mention that he provided a reference for another attorney, but I'm skeptical that someone that he recommends may operate in the same fashion. We made a commitment to spend the money so that he had everything he needed in order to represent us. He expressed explicitly that there is a case here. But I don't believe that he, nor someone he recommends will not put us through the same. We spent so much time and money to follow the exact instructions that he gave us. It would've been nice to know that we should get a second opinion before spending all of that time and money. His exact words after saying that he can't take the case was, "I think you should get a second opinion" due to the fact that he didn't intend on prioritizing our case, even though he stated that there was a definite case against the defendant. Take that for what it is, but I would absolutely not spend a single dollar until you have a contract in place, but know that the attorney has no intention of assisting with the burden of proof, but rather insist on you spending a boatload of money in order to Hand feed a clear line of evidence that shows negligence, fraud, or professional liability.

With all the specificities it takes to create a business, this team was awesome in communicating with me and assisting me with navigating not only the needs to get the ball rolling but also how to keep it rolling and with tips to help with bank accounts and accounting packages (if I were to want to take those routes). They were also very neutral in providing all the options possible and when I requested advisement or pros/cons, they were able to share these promptly and in a way that helped me choose what was best for me. I'm glad to have worked with them and will continue to work with them!

Unprofessional at best. Extremely disappointed with the services of Robert Lamm. I had concerns…read morethat my parents' trust was out of date and might be negatively impacted by the newly passed Prop 19, so I made an appointment to meet him along with my mother. My brokerage featured him in a meeting regarding Prop 19 and real estate, I felt like we'd be in a safe pair of hands. Bob Lamm was cordial and voiced a willingness in the meeting to look over the trust and make recommendations. My mother left the documentation with him and told him that his expertise was valued and while not in a rush, we would the trust to be updated. He agreed and accepted the bound documents. One month went by, then another, nothing, not a phone call, no response whatsoever; I was so surprised to be dropped like that without a notion of what was happening. Honesty is the best policy, if the trust was not worth his time, Bob Lamm could have expressed this in a diplomatic fashion, my mother, while proud of her well organized leather bound trust is under no illusion that it is anything more than modest size and we would not be offended if he had been forthright and honest and recommended another company. Instead, I phoned the office 2.5 months after the initial meeting and left a message with the reception that we hadn't heard anything from Bob Lamm and that I would like to come by and pick up the trust. No response! A few weeks pass and I call the office again and ask when I can come by...the reception replies to my query says, "Oh, it's here, up in front". Really???? All the sensitive documents have been sitting up at the reception desk for goodness knows how long with NO ATTEMPT to contact me and let me know it is there? Wow. Wow. Message received, our business is not needed nor welcome. Bob Lamm's behavior was appallingly unprofessional and possibly in violation of some privacy protocols. Perhaps you'll have better luck with Cummins and White than we did...especially if your trust is worth more money.
