I love buying used books. I love everything about books. I actually came here while running errands with someone else. I don't think I would have ever known this was here otherwise. I wandered around the store while the person I was with was taking care of whatever it is we came in there for. It was such an immersive experience. I appreciate how the store is laid out. There is/was so much thought put into not just the layout of where sections should be, but where each book goes. It is so well curated. I got so many incredible recommendations from the employee picks that I have loved, shared with others, and they have loved too. It's been a month or so since my last visit, so I'm excited to see what the latest recommendations are. If you're a book nerd, this is absolutely worth a visit. I will absolutely be back.

I vow to never visit Ann Arbor without coming to this bookstore…read more It's not huge, but it has awesome sections like psychology, religion, spirituality, magic, healing, even nutrition. It approaches life from a holistic, metaphysical but still grounded approach. It also has some oils, candles, and cool decorations like ankhs and things you can hang in your home for protection, like the evil eye, and what not. Upstairs I think they have tarot readings or something along those lines, I've only been up there to use the restroom. They also have a small discount section, oh and a little bit of jewelry! At least some of it is handmade locally. I find the staff to be very kind too. Give it a try!

We were not surprised to run across this kind of bookstore in a major college town like the University of Michigan. The store is located on a corner in a busy area of Ann Arbor, and covers two stories ... a first floor and a basement ... both well stocked. They did have a beautiful special version of a book that my best friend from Australia loves, so I was able to pick up that copy. I can't wait to send it to her. When I told her about it, she cried. Every time I'm in town, I have to stop here. I have a love for used bookstores and this is easily…read moreone of my favorites. This is largely because of the gentleman that's always working there (presumably the owner). He is friendly, outgoing and I've had nothing but informative conversations with him about books. I give him an idea of what I'm looking for, and he seems to be able to rattle off specific titles (not necessarily in his stock) with ease, never failing to point me in the right direction. He also has a great sense of humor, and the conversation makes the visit ten times more enjoyable. The stock seems to favor first editions, with very reasonable prices for a casual collector like myself. I end up walking out with something to add to my personal library (and, of course, read) every single time I walk in. Do yourself a favor and pay him a visit.

Diggers is the newest used media store in Ann Arbor. It is in the lowest level of a popular…read morebuilding in Kerrytown. We were a group of 6 from age 7 to 77. Our goals were specific musicians in vinyl and books , both for children and adults, both in paperback or hard cover was acceptable. A fun fact about Diggers, is that every single item in the store is the same price, $1.25. The not fun fact is that there is no organization other than the media platform. So be prepared to search bin or shelf or table on your own. The items seemed clean and in variable state and age. It was a lot of fun. Everyone found something, even if not looking for something specific. The only staff member is at the sales counter. By not having significant organization or staff to help they can offer such an incredible value. Go there with an open mind and lots of patience and it will pay off.

I love the Starbucks is inside also . I love how Barnes & Noble has a kids program and that they can get a free treat at Starbucks. We also take part in the summer reading program where they get a free book if they read 10 books. I know the Barnes & Noble is going to have a really awesome selection and I love how they've been keeping a great stock of sprayed edge books , which are my friends favorite so it's my favorite to give her for holidays. I feel like they have their books group really well so that it is very easy to know where to go for what you need . Their game section is thoughtfully curated. I love to read the notes from employees about their favorite books. I know this is a chain, but sometimes when I'm having a bad day, I go in just because it feels like Home . I will say that their bathroom is pretty disgusting unfortunately. Most of the employees have been very kind and helpful, but there will be the occasional employee that huffs and puffs when you ask for help. Honestly, I just really love that I can go get two of my favorite things in the same building . It's also really close to the hospital so when my husband has procedures, I pop in and browse the books while I'm waiting. Thank you, Barnes & Noble for being such a happy place !

The Friends of Ann Arbor District Library Bookshop is a little shop on the first floor of the…read morelibrary that sells books mostly for $1 or $2. Also has DVDs and CDs for sale too, mostly for about $2 each. If you follow on Facebook or other social media, you'll see that they often have big sale events which are located in the basement, and you can get a pretty large bag of books for like $5. Importantly, proceeds go to help fund the library. The bookshop is modestly sized. Importantly, they're selection is entirely comprised of donations, so as you can imagine there's not exactly a shortage of forgettable books here. There's also a lot of popular books by Grisham, Patterson, and other Walmart authors. Even so, there's a surprising amount of variety and if you stop by every once in awhile, you'll surely find something really great for just a buck or two. I've been surprised a few times by some really great finds. Also, if you've got kids, there's sections for young and older children. Worth checking out the DVDs too. If the shop were a standalone used bookshop, I'd probably rate 4 stars. But I don't think it's entirely fair to hold it to the same standard, given that it's a small operation that exists just to support the library. So I'm bumping up to 5. If you've got books or movies you want to donate, definitely keep this place in mind. Also, be sure to check out their site or social media for events if you like used books.
