Also, I got the sense that she doesn't respect my time at all and she puts money before her patients. I suggest try other therapists before going to her. Update: 1. The first session, I asked her how would like to work, her methodology and modality. She answered nothing, explained nothing. Instead she focused on my payment, and overcharged my co-payment until she confirmed my insurance later. I understand. 2. Another session. I paid her cash right after, yet she still requested fee through my Venmo. I emailed her that I have already paid, then she simply answered: "You're totally right." I understand. 3. I had an emergency on my way to her office. My car tire got flatten. I emailed her about the emergency. She charged the whole session fee out of my own pocket, which I understand. But she could have explained and provided other options for me to make up for the session through phone or email. Instead, she accused me of not knowing how therapy payment works, and stating that she could have given the spot to other clients. But the truth is, this is the first time I ever missed a session. And I made the appointment the day before, after she came back from travel, and there was no other client to take the spot. And she knew I'm a student and on student insurance. Again, I respect her time and I understand. 4. The most ridiculous is the last session. I told her what I wanted to talk about and I needed one more session to finish therapy with her. She finally explained her modality to me that she only worked with long-term clients, and thus refused to provide further service. She literally let me go, ignoring my goal and my need for this last session. However, she's still charging my insurance for this session. She wasted me almost two hours, from preparation, driving, parking, paying the parking fee, etc. I could have spent that time on my study, work, or with my family and friends. She neither cared or respected me, but "tricking" me to her office so she can bill my insurance. I decided to go to therapy because one of my best friends who works in medical field suggests that everyone should have a therapist to achieve better emotional balance and happiness. I didn't expect to receive such negativity and indifference. Our marriage was in serious trouble and ultimately ended. (Not because of our therapist). There was just too much damage by then. We participated in a 6 day intensive therapy retreat that forever changed our lives. He sets up the retreat agenda with insane intentionality behind it. It focuses on reconnecting through various means while also working through the most damaging/painful issues. My husband and I returned home with a better understanding of who we are individually, what we need collectively, and the tools to use as we navigate our marriage. I haven't felt this connected to my husband in years, and didn't know if there was even a possibility to do so prior to this retreat.
