Insight Choices was one of the few providers that accepted my insurance, and as someone who had never been to a similar facility, I wasn't sure what to expect. The moment I was connected with Dr. Rose Nikravesh, however, all of my doubts disappeared. Dr. Rose is one of the most compassionate and profoundly competent doctors I have ever encountered. Her genuine care is evident in every interaction--she listens deeply, considers every detail, and thoughtfully explores the best interventions for each unique circumstance. She is approachable, non-judgmental, and fully engaged in a way that makes you feel seen, valued, and supported. Her commitment is so extraordinary that I truly cannot imagine working with any other doctor. The facility itself has also exceeded my expectations. While I've seen some negative reviews, my personal experience has been nothing but positive. The staff has been consistently kind, attentive, and supportive--mirroring the same standard of care that Dr. Rose provides. For me, Insight Choices has been more than just a medical provider--it has been a place of genuine healing. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Rose and the entire team for their compassion and unwavering support. read more

My experience with Zipporah Wilson, NP was absolutely awful. She completely disregarded my individual circumstances, medical history, records, and feedback and instead took a blanket, one-size-fits-all approach to a medication that has successfully helped me for years. As someone caring for a severely disabled, non-speaking child, I needed a provider who would actually listen and consider my individual situation. Instead, I found her dismissive, condescending, uncaring, and severely lacking in empathy. Most concerning, she attempted to reduce a long-term medication without providing clear tapering instructions or an adequate explanation for her decision, despite the potential for serious withdrawal symptoms when these medications are reduced improperly. My attempts to communicate my concerns and get appropriate follow-up were met with little to no response. The entire experience felt unprofessional and deeply concerning. I would strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere, and based on my experience, I believe her conduct warrants a formal complaint to the appropriate nursing licensing board. read more

Insight Choices is a chop shop that's focused solely on revenue. It's unsurprising their clinic is losing partnerships with insurers. First, their providers started to lose their ability to prescribe ADHD medication. Then, the insurance dropped them in total, so now I no longer get insurance coverage for my appointments or medication. When I called to inquire about getting an appointment before the changeover date, they ignored me and were rude when I called a second time. Absolutely don't recommend. There are many other virtual appointment options out there. read more

I have been receiving great care from Insight Choices for the last 14 years! The wonderful thing about coming here has always been the warm welcome that I receive from the awesome team here. They really care about you, and I personally want to thank the kind and supportive care coordinators here, and also the exceptional quality care from the manager of Insight Choices. I want to extend my gratitude to the following care coordinators: Jasmin, Kat, and Shanire. I also want to personally thank the kind and truly caring office manager , Lourdes. All of the four above ladies have been so Exceptionally Helpful , Caring and Supportive with the important steps I have to take going forward now. When you need help , they go the extra mile for you , and all of them really went above and beyond with my situation! I have been a patient here for quite sometime and I have had two absolutely wonderful providers that were extremely caring and compassionate , and they have always made me feel safe and helped me with my mental health . Insight Choices is a very caring and warm mental health facility, and I look forward to continuing to be a patient here! read more

Some of the providers here are not suited to me or I have found them to be less than helpful and actually harmful to me. However, once I found a provider that I am comfortable with here and that I feel I can truest, it could not be better. Brendan is absolutely amazing for me. He is empathetic, caring, extremely intelligent and explains things extremely well. I have been going here for years. They have always gone above and beyond when I have an issue. Occasionally their response takes some time, but they always do more than I expect them to when there is any type of issue and they always fit me in or find a solution which is a dream... I cannot express enough how difficult it is to find a place that will help you at every step and even follow through when you hit road blocks, such as being u able to find a pharmacy or needing to speak with a provider in an emergency. They never leave me hanging. Again, occasionally it can take a day or two for the front desk to respond or my provider to get the messages and be able to act, however , once they have had the opportunity to work on a problem for you they will go the limits to solve whatever that issue is and find a solution for you. It takes away the debilitating fear I would get when I would be unable to find a pharmacy or when I felt as if I needed an sudden appointment, they figure it out and when you go to someone who will not or doesn't have the capability to go above and beyond for you, it just results feeling like you are not of value to that provider. Insight choices has never made me feel this way, again, occasionally they've not been able to address things right away and it has taken up to 48 hours, but they have never forgotten about me not have they left me in a situation where I could not overcome an unforeseen hurdle in my own.....they always help to have that hurdle removed completely. And they are friendly and nice while they do it! read more

This is the coldest medical facility I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I don't know what they did but CVS doesn't accept their prescriptions. This caused a whole nightmare for me - not one person apologized or offered explanation. I worked with them for 7 years bc it was easy and even though my clinician was not pleasant or kind I thought they were at least reliable - I was incorrect in that assumption. I hope you believe you deserve better for yourself. Sheena, you are one cold duck and I hope you get the help you need. read more

Over the years, their prices and policies constantly changed. Beware of these money hungry ghouls. No focus on the well being of actual patients, only lining their pockets with more and more and more. Two years ago I was transferred between multiple psychiatrists when a fairly new PA got my file. I was on 3mg of Xanax for anxiety for 11 years. She thought that was not appropriate without knowing me at all and gave me 1 weeks worth of Xanax and discontinued it. Xanax isn't allowed to be discontinued cold turkey, especially being on such a high dose for 11 years. I had to pay a detox facility $10,000 in cash and stay for a month to detox safely off the medication because the PA didn't know what she was doing. This greatly affected my life and my finances. I stopped going here but just wanted to share how unsafe some of these PA's or psychiatrists are. When I asked for the name of the PA nor she or the front office would give me her name. So there's that. (Luckily since I safely detoxed off the medication I have not taken it ever since, but that's besides the point) read more

Insight Choices - Me after one of my TMS sessions. - Counseling & Mental Health Near Me - Los Angeles, California

At first this place seemed great, where they verified my insurance quickly and got me an appointment relatively promptly. However, less than 24 hrs before the appointment, they cancelled it, saying the provider wasn't taking new patients. I called to make my first appointment so there wasn't user error on my end. All I did was say I preferred a female therapist and they picked for me from there. Seems it must have been an error on their end. They did not own up to this or really even apologize for it. After getting sent the cancellation, I returned the call. The woman I talked to was difficult to understand. She also took a very long time to look things up. Finally she told me the next available appointment was after 8pm on Labor Day. I said, "Is that right? Labor Day? This person works on a holiday? Are you sure?" The woman again seemed unsure and said something vague and then asked me about two times on the following day. Finally I said, "So I called and was given an appointment, and then I was canceled on with less than 24 hrs notice because someone on your side made me an appointment with isn't taking new patients, after I already re-arranged my schedule around it. Then I was offered an appointment for a holiday, and then you took that back. I don't feel very confident about any of this. Do you see why I might feel that way?" She repeated that the original provider isn't seeing new patients and she doesn't know why... which is kind of irrelevant to her own behavior being very unsure and like she had never made an appointment before. I said I'd just go elsewhere because she doesn't seem to know what's going on and I didn't want to waste my time. Not sure if they just don't have properly trained office staff but I just don't think this is acceptable for a place that deals with mental health. I really hope they do better because now that I see the other reviews, it seems the office staff's inability to be professional is a recurring issue. read more

I don't understand why there are so many poor reviews. I've been a patient for four years now and on several occasions have come close to missing a refill due to my own busy schedule occasionally interfering with my ability to remember to keep my medical affairs in timely order. Each time that's happened, office staff have been surprisingly prompt in making sure I'm covered without a lapse in medication. I haven't missed a single dose in four years. I've had the same doctor for most of that time and always appreciate the time she dedicates to our sessions, always remembering personal details, hopes and goals that I've shared previously. There was a time very early on when I recall being slightly annoyed with call wait times, but I haven't run into that issue in years now. Solid experience all the way around and one I highly recommend! read more

I've been coming here for over 6 years and I like my provider but the actual Insight choices bussiness has gone down hill. They do not know how to run a bussiness. They share personal emails with other clients and literally gossip about other patients on the phone. They do not have a way for patients to reach out to their provider - unless you're willing for foreign call agencies to listen and hear your calls. They take weeks to rectify problems. Sometimes they take months. It used to be owned by a professional doctor I respected but he's out of the picture now. So there's zero over sight. I'm lucky to have had years of mental health work at other places and I get my refills but I dont take this bussiness seriously because it isn't legit. It's sad because there are a handful of providers who work there and do care but the majority are there for the money. They used to have offices and you could actually see your provider once in awhile. Not anymore. It's all online and strange phone calls. This was a reputable company and now I would call it a a pill mill Operation. read more

The actual providers are great but the business is really scammy. All they care about is money. My provider went of medical leave so I needed to be switched to a new one. They let me know the new provider wanted a 40 minute session (vs 20 mins) to learn about me, they did not communicate any additional charges would be incurred. I met with the provider and we only used 20 minutes. A few days later I got a call saying I owed $80 for the extended session (which i did not even receive or ask for to begin with)... When I didnt pay immediately on the phone because I wanted to contact my provider to remind them that our session was only 20 minutes, they locked me out of my patient portal so I had no access to any of my information. I had to pay the BS fee to regain access to my prescriptions and my ability to contact my doctor. Not the way I'd run my medical business personally. read more

Very good doctors but without a doubt the worst staff at the office... I've been humiliated several times by this staff who could absolutely care less about that fact that the patients are dealing with mental health issues. It's hard enough to reach out for help but to be treated like a liar or an overly emotional human is just far too much. The one woman who usually answers the phone is an absolute monster. I've been a patient here for over five years. I'm leaving this review because as someone who has been paying out of pocket since I lost my health insurance through USC, I have major concerns about the way they treat refill requests (aka requiring appointments for non-controlled substances like SSRI's). This is either to make money at the expense of patient health or because staff doesn't understand that there are safety concerns when you suddenly stop taking certain types of medications. I've been on an SSRI for four months and recently had to see a different doctor because my usual wasn't available for a month out. The new one prescribed only one month of Lexapro with zero refills (and the incorrect adderall dosage). I tried to call three times DURING business hours! (left two messages specifically asking for a call back) because I'm out of my Lexapro and was struggling with the adderall type she prescribed. I received no return phone calls. I emailed them in desperation and was told to call them?? I responded saying that they would be liable for anything patients do while they are neglectful of treatment and finally received a call yesterday, a week after my initial voicemail. I told them that I hadn't taken my Lexapro in four days and desperately needed a refill. It isn't doctor recommended to go off an SSRI cold turkey and I'm currently getting dizzy spells from withdrawals. My mental health is plummeting and I'm concerned for patients in worse off situations than mine. They said they would talk to the provider who made multiple mistakes calling in my prescriptions but couldn't promise me a call back same day. I'm on day five without my SSRI after four months and am getting headaches and dizzy spells. I'll be starting over when I finally get this prescription filled. I understand requiring an appointment for refills on a controlled substance like adderall but with an SSRI they are putting patients at risk by requiring an appointment (the email response I received told me I needed to schedule an appointment for a refill). I've attached an image. People are struggling even more than usual right now and while they're transitioning to an online portal they're neglecting patients' well-being. No one answers that phone during office hours. It is irresponsible, risky for patients, and I wouldn't recommend anyone with serious mental health problems or those who require strict adherence to medication routines ever patronize Insight Choices. It simply isn't safe and they simply don't care about anything besides you paying out of pocket for another appointment. read more

Insight Choices - Currently day five without taking my SSRI and experiencing dizzy spells - Counseling & Mental Health Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I have been trying to get in touch with Insight Choices to get an appointment and medication for the past week and have not been able to reach a single person. I've spent multiple times on hold for over 30 minutes only to have my call go to a voicemail box. Of course, the messages are never returned. I have tried emailing them, and those messages were not returned either. I tried making an appointment on their new online portal and was able to get one in a month, in July, only to later receive a notice that my appointment was declined. I got so frustrated, I even went so far as to drive 30 minutes to West Hollywood and go to their office. I walk in, and there is a construction crew who had no idea if they were ever still in business! Given that this is a mental health clinic, I am in disbelief that they didn't reach out to their clients, put a notice on their website, or a message on their telephone system, directing current patients on how to get services. It doesn't matter how good the doctors and therapists are if there is no way to reach them. I'm going to file a complaint with my insurance carrier because I cannot believe that a mental health organization would be so grossly negligent. read more

Like others have said, this place deserves a negative rating. Their policies are extremely unfriendly to patients. You can only get an appointment a month out -- and they have a policy where they won't give you refills for medication except during appointments. This basically makes it impossible to get refills for your meds before you run out. On top of that, they charge you for your appointment when you make an appointment, versus on the day of the appointment -- so you're basically charged a month ahead for an appointment. Is this even legal? I was so pissed off about this that I decided to change docs and canceled an appointment that was weeks away -- that they'd already charged me for -- and they sent me back this note: "Please fill out our refund form (link to a lengthy web form). The refund will be sent via check to your address on file. Please allow our customer service team up to 30 business days to process and respond to your refund request." So basically I have to fill out a gigantic form and wait a month to get a CHECK refund for an appointment that I never even had. These business practices are really unethical and should be illegal if they not already are. read more

This review is about Dr. GREGORY C STAVARIDIS, a NP on 7/19/18. He was the most OPPOSITE of genuine person I have ever met. He was behind a computer screen the entire time of our session... And then, at the END of the session, he had the AUDACITY to ask me how to pronounce my name. Um, don't you think it is important to ask a PATIENT how to pronounce their name BEFORE the session starts? Are you even a human being at all? Do you even know what empathy is? I am absolutely livid and mortified that doctors like him exist. Where did he get his degree? He didn't even ask for my name! Also, I had to initial a bunch of stuff before the session and one thing I had to initial was next to Suicide - "I will not attempt to end my life while I am under the care of my doctor." Why the H would I sign that? Would you stop treating people if they attempted to end their life? Don't you think people who need a psychiatrist are the ones that want to end their life??! It seems to imply that if someone attempted suicide and survives, doctors at insight choices will let go of them as a patient. I understand that these doctors do not want to get sued if someone took their life, but the wording here is SO IGNORANT. When I told Dr G Stavardis about this, his response "where does it say that?" *I show him* and all he says back was "hm... and puts the paper down." NO FURTHER DISCUSSION. I am appalled. And sad. Really really terrible experience. They left me with days and days without medication and basically held me hostage. Stay away! Their payment system is really shady. You have to pay in advance for next appointment. I usually saw the provider every two months. You & the provider book the next appointment. I actually really liked her, now she & the group are being investigated. They tried to say the early debit was from a coordinator booking the appointment. A blatant lie! I really don't know why I haven't written a scathing Yelp review of Insight Choices yet. Maybe its because there are no words to describe the depth of ineptitude and gross negligence of this place that claims to provide mental health care. I have been a patient of Insight Choices for 3+ years and I have been harassed by the billing department for large outstanding balances at least 5 times. Each time they approached me about a balance I would have to jump through multiple hoops to get the mistake corrected. In the end with every single incident all or 95% of the money "owed" was actually just a billing error on their behalf. The truth is I have tried to leave Insight Choices in the past because of these issues. However, due to financial and time constraints, I had to return; and overall the care I received from my psychiatrist and therapist was excellent. Unfortunately, that excellent care is belied by the incompetence of management in the front office and billing department. Let's just pause and unpack this for a second. I am a 36-year-old woman who has been diagnosed with Major Depressive Order and GAD. I have had suicidal ideations and have been on disability because of my depression for 12+ months in the past. Don't you think a medical professional would want to be on top of all communications with an individual like this? Just in case, let's say, that individual does end up with a legitimate high balance. I would think a competent mental health practice would be aware that financial pressure let alone an unexpected large bill could trigger rash and impulsive behavior. I have asked this question many times over the past month and NO one can answer it. As a person who runs her own business and has managed other successful businesses in the past, it's unfathomable to me how Insight Choices is still open for business. As a woman who suffers from chronic depression, it's abhorrent that under Dr. Chang's leadership his patients are treated this way. As proved by his (in)action, Dr. Chang doesn't care about how his patients are treated but for how much money he can bilk from them. That being said I am not going to go into every detail about every billing error here. I am just going to provide the details of the most recent incident. As it is now, I had to write a second review to finish outlining the details of this incident. On February 27th, MJ from the billing department called me to tell me that I owe $756.44. Instantly my guard went up, as my last appointment with Golie was in December and this was not my first ordeal with MJ. So I asked him to explain to me why I have a balance since my insurance covered all office visits with a $5 copay. He said that Anthem had denied two claims in November and had reclaimed the money they had already paid for those two visits earlier this year. I also had seemed to have had an existing unpaid balance from a visit back in October in 2016. Yes, a balance from 17 months ago. He was calling about a balance that just magically popped up out of no where. Which leaves me even more confused because over the summer and fall of 2017 I was told I had a credit by the front office staff I had and didn't have to pay my $5 office visit copay for a few months. I tell MJ this is unacceptable and he says he will forward my message along to Connie and she will get back to me. A week later, with no word from Connie, I receive invoices in the mail telling me to pay my $756.44 balance by 3/29/17. So now on March 6th, I call my insurance to see why two of their payments were reversed in late November and why I am liable for the outstanding balance. The insurance company says that Insight Choices is incorrect and that they will call the billing department and get everything straightened out for me. The also mentioned that they had been double billed with both a medical visit and a mental health visit. When I asked if that was normal the agent said that it was a thing certain practices do to get more money. After I get off the phone with my insurance company I call the billing department and speak to Aries. He tells me that he is forwarding all of my concerns to a mysterious business partner of Dr. Chang's and that I should be contacted sometime next week with resolution. I share with him that the insurance company had just called and left a message regarding the situation and he said he would make sure to pass that information along as well. By March 16th I still had not heard anything from the billing department so I call back and speak to Aries. He says that NOTHING has been done and that he will now have Cameron, the 3rd office manager in as many years, contact me by Monday the 19th to get everything resolved. Monday, March 19th, radio silence. To be continued... read more

I hate writing negative reviews but oof--does this place deserve it. Not only is the staff unfriendly and cold, they also seem beyond incompetent, and love over or wrongfully charging you. Once, I waited an hour for a psychiatrist to show up--she never did. They billed me $150 for it and when I called the front desk employee, they told me they didn't know how to change the incorrect billing, so I would just have to pay for it. Now, after changing psychiatrists, I received a bill for hundreds of dollars dated back 4 months ago with a due date of today (??) FOUR MONTHS LATER. LOL. What a joke. I have no idea what these people think they're doing but it sure isn't psychiatry or anything helpful to anyone but themselves. read more

Ok...sometimes they have periods where the front-end staff is new or isn't that well-versed in how to do *everything* that people need or want *immediately.* BUT...they do get messages to your providers. Is there some turnover (front end staff and providers)? Sure....but I can *always* get an appointment, and I'm never left without a script. Plus, once you set up auto-pay the billing part of it all is pretty "hands free," which I quite like... I ALSO like that I get email and text reminders (sometimes they'll even call to remind me), and that I haven't been charged a late fee for a "no show" in a really long time because of that...and whatever - every doctors office has those fees. It is what it is. I don't know why they get some poor reviews for office staff (except that yeah - it just generally does suck when they aren't great and you're dealing with a public that maybe needs a bit more empathy than some seem to be able to show), BUT... the *providers* are professional and responsive. Everything isn't perfect **all the time**! Fine! But I *never* get the sense they aren't trying to do everything they can in the moment. I'm always getting an appointment when I need it. My provider always sends my scripts when they are due. When there have been time sensitive issues, they do their best to accommodate and have never left me hanging. I've been going here for 10 years now, and there's a reason I haven't left. It just works for me. Maybe it won't work for *everyone* or maybe none of the therapists that are in the practice at the time you do your initial intake are "a good fit" for *you.* But just like therapy and meds - there is NO "one size fits all," for a psych office...there probably isn't even a "one size fits MOST," but whatever size Insight Choices is - for me - it's the right one. read more
