I well preface this by saying I only called Dr. Aldahwi to inquire about her services and ask some questions regarding her practice and couples therapy but she exceeded my expectations in just a simple phone call. Not only did she address my basic questions that we all have when looking at therapy options for the first time but she actually took time to talk to me and listen to me probably more than she should have about my issues in my relationship. She even asked questions. I felt heard and engaged with and for as brief as it was, it was like a breath of fresh air. I don't usually write reviews, but for someone who took time to listen when they had really no obligation to, I just had to. Highly recommend considering if you are looking at options. My partner had been contemplating visiting a therapist for years, and when he finally decided to it sadly happened to be Dr. Samara. He has a history of severe anger issues and it came to my attention that he had not been receiving any real help for several months of Dr. Samara's therapy, in fact he was getting worse. He stopped doing anything but watch tv and was becoming more depressed. When we were having a particularly bad fight one day (because of the therapy) she intervened and pointed the finger at me asking why I would want to continue this relationship. She even gave me a date to move out by within 5 minutes of our initial meeting via FaceTime. I informed her he started therapy because he has real problems but she just kept saying my partner has told me to leave several times, which was not true and she did not hear my side of it. Unfortunately I do not have the means to leave right away, and frankly my living situation should be something that stays between me and my partner. She was suggesting women's shelters and programs that she couldn't even point me in the direction of. Instead of treating me like I'm the root of the issue, why not just treat the issues at hand? I don't even think she took the time to learn about the real reason he needed help- Dr. Samara just kept asking questions about unrelated topics such as education and I'm not quite sure what kind of treatment is really being practiced here. Recently my partner has decided to stop seeing Dr. Samara but going forward I hope she understands the magnitude of not providing legitimate help to her clients. Edit: found out she had been telling him to "do whatever he wants", which has created even more issues than what we started with. Avoid this service at all costs if you care about your mental health. read more

She is the absolute BEST therapist. She has been a game changer. After years of struggling to find a therapist with even half a brain and someone with good advice who doesn't just sit there and nod or suggest medication right away - I found Samara and she has been a godsend.
