If you are going to visit Motley MN, I would not recommend BRICKS Travel Center as a stop…read more I WAS a customer of theirs since they reopen about 15 years ago One day I went in there for breakfast. I ordered my usual breakfast. There was a dime laying on the floor under the table next to me. I picked it up and put it on that table thinking it was part of a waitresses tip that was dropped. I got my breakfast and paid and tipped at the till when I left. 2 days later that waitres waited on the table of evening guest that meet every night for supper and friendship. She waited on everybody but me. When I ask her what that was all about, she said I only tipped her a dime and said "that is what I said that that was all she was worth". I never said anything like that. After I paid for my evening meal and she said that, I called her a liar and told her she had better get her facts correct. My service from the waitresses kept getting worse. They would not even give me a cup of coffee when I came in. The manager Angie Boyd should have at least gotten my side of the story and done a conflict resolution at that point. She did not. I started getting my own coffee, silverware, and creamer after that because those few waitresses would not give me any service. I paid $2.00 for those cups of coffee. Which was only 3 or 4 times. They said I was not paying for my coffee at that point. So then I started getting my coffee in the C-store and going and sitting with my friends in the restaurant for our round table conversations. That made Angie Boyd , the manager, mad and she had me served with a no trespassing order. So if you go there beware. You don't know what to expect.

First time visit for breakfast based on recommendation from another fantastic local restaurant…read moremanager. The homemade jumbo carmel rolls (to go) were a hit with the kids and were still warm when I got home. The server waited to have to heated up until I was ready to go to ensure they would be warm. It was a great touch. Based on the recommendation did the breakfast burrito. So glad that I did as it was a meal for 2 but filled with eggs, sausage, bacon, cheese, shredded hashbrowns, and maybe some grilled onions. Then topped with queso cheese sauce and the option for spicy or default homemade salsa. I did the spicy salsa on the side for my half and the regular salsa on the side to go for the other half. Definitely a burrito for two. When the bartender found out that this was my first visit she walked me thru the menu and the specials that are available on the weekend (limited quantities smoked ribs and beef brisket) So glad that a trusted voice recommended I give Sunshine's a try. Great food and great staff.

We have recently had both dinner and breakfast here so I feel qualified now to leave some thoughts…read more- first off, that caramel roll is LEGIT and I wish I'd ordered two to take with me! Both times we've been here, we were seated promptly and the service was friendly and attentive. Parking is super easy and you can hear each other speaking here (I have found these two things are getting more and more important to me, which is I guess how you can tell I'm aging ha!). Breakfast choices for our group included the Paul Bunyan Scramble and the breakfast burrito (huge!!) as well as the standard eggs/bacon/toast/hashbrowns - I should have asked for the hashbrowns to be more cooked and I will remember that next time, but that's my own preference. Dinner was just my husband and me, I can't remember what he got but I KNOW I got the smashburger and it was excellent, as were the fries. This place is not on the water which means it's much more reasonably priced than some of the other choices in the area, too, another reason to visit again!

Beyond the wings, our sandwiches (with chips and fries) were delicious and filling. The service was all super friendly and helpful. It can get busy here, especially since it's one of restaurants that stays open year round, but lake country is all about relaxing and taking your time. They have TVs all over, making it a perfect spot to watch a game. Seriously recommend giving them a try!

We wanted to start off with the scotch eggs, but they were not temporarily available so we had the fried pickles which came very quickly. I am a pickle fan by nature and the fried pickles were good. They came with a spicy sauce which was a find complement but a little too spicy so we got an order ranch dressing as well. My understanding is the pickles are a little thicker than they used to be, but I was fine with what we got. Shortly after getting the appetizer we placed our order for entrées. Unfortunately, this is where things deteriorated, apparently due to problems in the kitchen. The entrées were delayed by 30-45 minutes. We eventually got a side salad and a Caesar salad. Neither salad was anything special, but nurishing. The artichoke pizza finally came and was quite good. The pizza was an artichoke and spinach paste base with chicken, caramelized onions, and mozzarella on top. This was hot and flavors a lot of artichoke, chicken, caramelized onion, and mozzarella were all distinct. The tavern burger that came next was plentiful and tasted good, but was slightly overdone from the temperature requested. The tater tots with the burger were warm, but could have definitely been hotter. The service throughout was mostly attentive, but clearly struggling with the kitchen service issues and didn't have much to tell us through most of the meal. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded and they had plenty of seating so I don't think this service is typical and I think we got there on a bad day. Had we been given an option a half hour into our seating we might've skipped the entrées and just ordered more appetizers if they had been quicker.
