This store is owned and run by Amish people ... I'm fascinated about Amish people as I've learned they are the only pocket of population in the US that are nearly cancer and other chronic disease-free ... .all the healthy unprocessed food they produce and eat, and their hardworking lifestyle must mean something to them. I loved their store, they had turkeys and chicken on display! in a big yard cage ..
They sell a variety of plants, seeds, grains for groceries, soil, baked goods, local raw honey, some produces in season, essential oils, live cultures etc. etc. they had a magnet at the cashier and it says "specializing in local, naturally produced products: a co-op of local farm families bringing you "real foods" and much more" ... I went crazy and bought a whole bunch of flower and veggies plants there .... It's a nice drive out, passing through cute towns of T-burg and Interlaken ... something to do on weekends..
I bought their rhubarb bread made with local organic spelt flour ... yum yum yum :)
The only thing I wondered about their store is that ... ... as with all the gardening stores go, they use a lot of plastics ... all the plants came in plastic containers ... with plastic labels ... there are some plants that were in a sort of mesh bags, and I wondered if it's natural fabric .... but I looked up what they were after I came home ... they aren't natural ... they use recycled pet bottles ... and recommend you plant them directly into the soil! The company that sell the fabric container calls it ecological ... I question that ... I doubt Amish people know much about plastic pollution .... I imagine, needing to compete with the regular businesses, with customers who are used to convenience, they probably can't avoid using plastic disposables ... ... I wish there are better alternatives ..... read more
