I stopped by the nursery because my beloved dog passed away and I wanted to plant a tree in his honor. What I didn't expect was to get the most compassionate and honest costumer service that I have ever experienced. I went in with an idea in my head but really needed some help picking the right one that would do the best. I just knew I wanted something that would stand out and last for a long time. The owner came to help me right away and asked me what I was looking for and when I told him why I was getting the tree he immediately stopped and offered me his condolences, his understanding, and more kindness than I could have expected. *He offered me a flower and I began to cry, he told me that I could just walk behind him as we looked so that I could cry and still feel comfortable- that's beyond customer service, that is a truly kind soul. * We took our time looking at the options and he gave me honest recommendations. Finally we found the perfect one- a white pine tree that was not even a fraction of the cost of the one I had originally thought I wanted. He could have easily just sold me on the expensive one I had in mind originally but he didn't. He cared more about me, the tree, and my experience than he did about making the sale. I wish I could express how much that experience means to me. It gave me so much comfort and I left feeling so grateful for the warmness they shared so generously with me, a stranger, and left with one of the first smiles I had in days. I met the other owner briefly as I checked out and felt the love just pouring from her too. I couldn't recommend them more. The experience you get from a local owned business is unmatched in its humanity. I promise, you will never want to buy from anywhere else again. Lastly, I want to say thank you to the owners who took time out of their day to lift up a stranger who had no idea how much she needed it. I appreciate you with all my heart. Thank you.

We received 100 Black Gum and 150 Japanese Red Maple from Porcupine Hollow Farm. All of the Black Gum died and only four of the Japanese Red Maple lived. At the same time we planted trees from Porcupine Hollow Farm, we also planted 1800 other trees from other tree farms. The trees from Porcupine Hollow Farm are the only ones that have had any trouble. We reached out to Porcupine Hollow Farm to figure out why the trees from their farm were having such a hard time but we have never gotten any response. We would recommend not doing business with them.

I got 3 orange and pink flowers called 'persimmon,' and then, 2 pink flowers and 1 yellow flower. I put five of the flowers in two boxes and one in a hanging basket. Unlike other well respected Nurserys in MI, Barker Creek only provides a 60 day warranty on their trees. You are not provided any warranty paperwork and it is not posted on their website. Others, like Harder Warner in Grand Rapids, Begicks in Bay City, Warmbiers in Auburn, provide a minimum 1 year warranty on trees. Unfortunately, we purchased a Maple tree from Barker Creek ($395+) in Oct 2024 and purchased planting supplies (we were in the area), the tree survived the winter but in June began to die. We watered and fertilized but no luck. Gordon, an owner, informed me that there is no warranty, but would be willing to meet with me to find a different tree. He may offer something to offset, but won't commit. Well, my drive time is 1.5 hrs and a 'no warranty' tree is not worth spending an additional $400. Sorry, you have lost my business. I will travel to a reputable nursery. Buyer Beware.
