I think the best thing about Fat Cat Cafe Bar is their discounts for students…read more I ordered the vegetarian full english, but the vegetarian sausages came all burnt. My friend really wanted to try the sausage, but since it was burnt to a crisp, neither he nor I got a chance to enjoy it. They also asked me how I like my eggs, to which I said over medium, to which they gave me three options: fried, scrambled, or poached. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't ask someone how they like their eggs unless you can actually take them up on their request. TIP: 50% off for students!

I'm greedy. I say this now so that you'll understand my small disappointment at today's meal…read more We popped in to the Prince Of Wales for a Sunday lunch as we've eaten there on quite a few occasions and always had a really nice time. We were seated immediately and checked out the menu, paying particular attention to the 'roast' section. I was a little indecisive so it was great to see an option to have a 'trio' of meats with extra trimmings. It cost 2 quid more than a normal roast, but unfortunately was much smaller, meaning I had to finish off my Mother-in-law's roast beef! I told you, I'm greedy. I did however have a delicious chocolate brownie with caramel ice cream for dessert, so I rolled out of there content. I'd go back again for sure, but I'd probably order something else.

Despite stating the law, which implies anyone at the age of 16 or 17 can enjoy an alcoholic beverage with their meal. Nether the less, we were consequently found bombarded with the statement "it's company policy" over and over again. This being a 19 (soon to be 20 in January) male in his second year at university, even on his wild nights on the toon, getting asked to present identification is incredibly rare. The food was enjoyable however, but the service has somewhat put me off the possibility of returning.

Good selection of drinks, although wine by the glass is very overpriced, and general prices are more like town centre than village pub! Menu has become more limited too, so I often find it difficult to chose something that I'd like, and then end up being disappointed.

We sat in lovely large, comfy sofas, and after buying the original round at the bar, we were waited on at the table. I'm not sure if that's just on quiz nights, but it made a lovely change. Prices were fairly average for this type of family/food pub, and I didn't eat but friends said that it's not bad at all. There's also a play area, but I didn't have the kids with me so didn't check that out - again I was told it's good. Handy as there's a small Tesco next door and a few take-aways so depending on how much you've had to drink, you can pick up a kebab and/or a pint of milk on the way home.

Went for the first time (Wednesday night 03/08/2011)…read more (the bill came to over £20 for two of us). We both had starters prawn cocktails, however they didn't come with any sauce, but had a separate tiny little pot on the side of the plate (I love the sauce and is the only reason I ever have prawn cocktail so was rather disappointed). I had the sirloin steak and Cheryl had Fajita's. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, but was a bit too rare for me, could have done with a bit longer. It was supposed to be 8oz however had about 4oz of fat on it :( Beer prices were good and they did server John Smiths. Atmosphere was drab, there wasn't any background music playing though and all you could hear was chav FM every time the kitchen door was flung open. Does have a beer garden that looked like it would be good in the sunshine & even a kids play area at the end of the building. Not somewhere I would rush back to, but the service was good (no one else in the pub though) and food was average for that kind of pub (could have been better). Not great value for money but wasn't a complete rip-off.
