First time that we have been to this bakery - wow, what terrific long johns, with the custard filling. The dough was a different type from regular doughnut shops, and the size was larger, it was a big win in my book. The cinnamon rolls were sizable and delicious, and here I am, a few days later, still enjoying the pepperoni pizza bread. You won't want to miss this little bakery, it is worth the time. read more

Very small authentic Amish bakery but they have the best long johns (cream sticks)! Lots of pie choices but I haven't tried one yet.

Great bakery-better than anything in Shipshewana if variety is not your main criteria. You get to choose from what's baked that day and what's left depending on time of day. There's still plenty of variety. In town for a day I was hoping for butterscotch pie. No luck. But the small black raspberry pie($6), banana bread, lemon crinkle cookies, pepperoni bread and apple dumpling were delicious replacements. Prices were excellent. Nothing was overly sweet--just perfectly divine. Prices beat everyone else as well. Wish I lived nearby! Worth your time. read more

Authentic. Affordable. Amish. Bakery. After arriving at a well-known bakery featuring Amish baked goods, we discovered we would stand in line behind the occupants of two tour buses that had pulled into the already packed parking lot moments before us. We immediately searched Yelp for another bakery and discovered Country Lane Bakery, located out in the country with a parking lot sufficient for only a few vehicles. Approaching the old Amish building, we were overwhelmed by the sweet, yeasty aroma of freshly baked bread. The cheerful young Amish woman warmly greeted us and answered our questions about her products - breads, rolls, pies, and other sweet treats. We chose an apple turnover which was about the size of a dinner plate before being folded in half. The crust was perfectly flakey and slightly warm. The apple filling was sweet, but not too sweet, filled with real apples - a perfect treat for a fall morning. Then we spotted a tray of "Whoopie Pies" - oh, my! Warm-from-the-oven with rich cream nestled between the two layers of soft chocolate cake. If you are seeking an authentic, affordable Amish bakery without the tourists, you will not be disappointed with your drive out to Country Lane Bakery. read more

Most of their baked goods are amazing. But their fresh fruit pies definitely need more fruit. $15 for a jello pie filling without much fruit is a bit of a rip-off. Disappointed. read more

Excellent little bakery in Amish Country. If you don't see what you want in the small retail area, and it's on the items board, then ask! (Sometimes it's just out of the oven.) The staff is friendly and helpful. Closed Sundays and Mondays, and they aren't equipped to take credit cards. We live here, and my husband comes over every Tuesday to get bread and other goodies. read more

This will be an experience you won't want to miss out on, and it's worth making the drive out no matter how far you are. Make it a part of your trip, and you won't regret it. From cinnamon rolls to cookies to bread, it is all the absolute best in baked goods there is!!! My family and I loved everything we got!! We will be back as often as we can! Everyone THINKS they want to go to the bakery up the road. You know, the one that has been dubbed as "Amish crack". What they don't realize, is that they are passing by (if they came from SR 13) the best bakery in the area. I've been to them all, and there isn't any contest. Try the cinnamon rolls. My husband's family lives nearby in Syracuse, IN. This bakery is located on a very quiet street and it is hard to find. Their pies are just amazing. The pecan pie is so delectable. Their cinnamon buns are something you look forward to. I had one last summer and I was looking forward to it! They put the icing on after you place the order. Anyway, my in-laws have been going to this bakery for some time. Just this past week, we took a cherry pie and a box of cinnamon buns back to Los Angeles. Let me just say that the Amish bakers are just fantastic! I already miss it! Looking forward to the next visit! They are closed on Sunday and Monday. They open at 5am in the morning. read more

My mom brought me goodies from Country Lane last weekend: Cinnamon rolls, sugar cookies, honey oatmeal bread and peanut butter spread. Even 24 hours later and having been transported across state lines, these are still the best freakin' sugar cookies ever. And the cinnamon rolls froze nicely for later reheating (frosting separate so we could drizzle it on ourselves). The craving has only barely been satisfied because now the carb monster wants more... :) read more

My cousin has a condo up in this area otherwise I would never have known about this fantastic little bakery. We got there at closing time on a Saturday and practically bought everything that was left. The cinnamon cream cheese roll ups (can't think of their name) were to die for. Cute little sunflower cookies were o-so-good. And the small fried pie like items were delish also. But the best thing for me was their Rye Bread. It was a white dough with caraway seeds in it. I used to be able to buy bagels made like that but cannot find them any longer. Popped a piece of this bread into the toaster and it tasted just like the bagels. I get my bread from this bakery every week. (Honey oatmeal) They offer so many great products Including locally sourced honey, rolls, pie, and tons of bread options. Their honey oatmeal bread is only sweetened with honey, no sugar. And they frost the cinnamon rolls as you order them. Family owned and they treat you right. I bought the garlic cheese bread from a local store in Leo. It looked very appetizing .I admit I didn't read the ingredients (powdered cheese,garlic powder) . It tasted like a cheap garlic cheese bread wannabe. No garlic pieces or melted cheese. The chocolate chip cookies tasted bland, but perhaps that's because I prefer a buttery sweeter chocolate chip cookie. Every bodies tastes are different and Country Lane Bakery has obviously produced baked goods over the years that people like,but these 2 items are the first and last I'll buy from them. read more

Absolutely the best hidden secret in this area! I love the pepperoni pizza bread! Sliced and toasted and made into a sandwich this stuff will make your tongue slap your brains out! This is my favorite but all of the other items I have tried were top notch too. They have a small display rack of day old items that are half price and really a good deal. This place is a short drive off the main road (a mile or so) but easy to find and so worth the time to visit. Super nice people working here too! This is by far the best bakery in the area. The bread is wonderful, especially the honey oatmeal. The pies are amazing - I look forward to the fresh fruit cream pies made seasonally. They are very accommodating. I needed pies made without lard and they were very willing to special make them for me. Otherwise they have all sorts of traditional Amish goodies - whoopee pies, cakes, half-moon pies, Amish peanut butter, cinnamon rolls. Prices are very good. Day old bread tastes just as fabulous as just made bread. Their bread is tender and soft which is very hard to find at any of the other bakeries in the area. read more
