The first time he visited, he told us we didn't actually need a cleaning yet, and this time he was upfront again, letting us know we could probably get another season before it's necessary. That kind of honesty is rare and so greatly appreciated. Adam is incredibly thorough and takes the time to explain important details about the chimney. From maintenance tips to what to look out for, to help ensure it lasts us a long time. He's also extremely clear, kind, and transparent about billing, and was flexible when we needed to make a change. This is a local business worth supporting. Be very cautious when working with this business…read more After the work was completed, there was a verbal agreement that I would receive a link to their payment system so I could make my final payment, but I never receive it. (The link was sent to me weeks before, but I told the business owner at the conclusion of work that I had trouble accessing it). One day later, I was assessed a penalty of $100 and all the fees that was originally agreed was nullified. I reached out multiple times by e-mail, phone and text to try to settle my balance in a timely manner but did not get a response. Later, I received an invoice indicating that my account will be sent to collections, and I ultimately had to pay significantly more than the amount I originally had agreed upon. This experience was very stressful, and it cost me much more than any other business quoted me and would have ultimately charged me. Based on what I went through, I would not recommend this business.

We hired Ryan & Son to perform a Level II chimney inspection during our first home purchase. The…read moreinspection day went smoothly, but afterward we really regretted working with them. They told us we'd need to fully replace the firebox and flue, and that doing so would trigger a series of code issues, recommending a full rebuild in the $15-20K range. This directly contradicted the seller's professional, who said the issues were easily repairable for closer to $7K. We eventually had to bring in in a third party, who confirmed the seller was right and said Ryan & Son seemed to be "trying to sell us way more than what was needed." We felt incredibly frustrated because we paid for clarity and guidance but ended up with more confusion, making our home-buying negotiations unnecessarily difficult. They were not in our corner, even though we paid them to be. A quick check of their Yelp reviews shows others have had similar experiences, so this doesn't seem like a one-off. I wouldn't recommend using this company if you're hoping for honest, helpful insight; especially during something as stressful as buying a home.

A little while back I got a knock on my door out of the blue and it was Al from Noce's Paving. He…read moresaid that his paving crew was in the area and they were about to finish up another job and had nothing scheduled for the afternoon and was wondering if I was interested in re-paving part or all of my driveway.....TODAY! Well despite my driveway having a lot of cracks with weeds growing out of them, I hadn't really seriously considered taking on the time and expense of a full re-paving as my driveway is about 270 feet long and has a small parking area that is about 1000 square feet. Plus, I didn't know him from Adam and it kind of sounded like a scam. However, I was intrigued by the thought of a nice and clean new driveway so I asked him if he could give me an estimate on the cost. He got out his measuring equipment and took some measurements and did some calculations and he gave me a figure for just the long, skinny part of my driveway which was in the worst shape. He said that the parking area was still OK but would need to be redone in the not too distant future and my back area was still in very good shape and didn't need any work. Well being that I'm no expert on whether it was a good price or a highly inflated price, I said I would think about it and get back to him on it before the end of the day as I wanted to make a few calls and compare prices. Al was as polite as can be and handed me his card and said that that would be great and that he would wait for my call. So I did just that, I called 3 or 4 other pavers and they worked me up some quotes for me and lo and behold, Al's price beat them all by a comfortable margin. So I figured, what the heck and called him back and told him that I was in. He said that they would be over in about 30 minutes and sure enough, an entire paving crew with trucks and machinery was there as promised and they started prepping my driveway. I then asked Al if he would work out a deal for me if I wanted to get the parking area re-paved too and a few minutes later he gave me another very fair price quote. Well, me being me, I made a counteroffer on the price and a few minutes later we shook hands on the deal which worked out even better per square foot than before. So after a few hours of work, my driveway was finished and looked incredible. I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes on the curb appeal of my house. Not to mention how much easier it will be to clear the snow in the winter. My next-door neighbor came over while they were working and he was a bit incredulous about the whole knock on my door and offer to pave my driveway offer, but even he was impressed by how great it came out and said that he would like to re-pave his in the next year or two as well. So I have nothing by praise for Al & Noce's Paving. He was a straight shooter and didn't put any pressure on me to hire them. And then he gave me a very good price and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them. Once again, I thank Al and his crew for all their hard work! It's now been almost a year now and my driveway looks as beautiful as ever.
