I filed my taxes with Yvette in 2020. Very nice person and nice office, I just received a letter from the IRS that the accounting was incorrect and now I'm being penalized. I looked back into my records and sure enough they miscalculated my wages. Definitely taking the ownership of not checking their work but I really never thought I would have to check the accountants work. Full transparency, I called their office to inquire and I got a call back saying you never paid us the cost of filing which I looked through my records and realized I never received a phone call reminding me or an invoice from them until today with a collections stamp on it. Worked with them across a few years. While initially very charming, it was impossible to get them to respond with basic details, calls were returned about 5% of the time. Maybe if you're able to visit in person they would do a better job, but I lost a great deal of money because they were unable or unwilling to tell me basic things about the project. Also, despite thousands of calls the receptionist never recognized me, which is weird. Maybe if you're in Glendale and are able to stop by in person they would be better, but there is very little to recommend here. read more

Check my previous reviews, they're mostly all 5-star positive feedback because I hate giving negative reviews since shit happens... BUT WOAH!!! I walked in as a potential new client and to ask the accountant a quick question since my sister uses her services (not after today though). My sister and I walked in, sat quietly while the older man and Yvette were in their offices with clients. No receptionist to ask my question so we patiently waited. The older man didn't even approach us when he was done, he just walked into Yvette's office... she peeks her head out and very rudely asks if we have an appt. We said no (and before I can tell her we just had a quick question) she continues to say, "I don't have time for you, I have to leave. I don't take walk-in's, I don't know you! Email me." Well duh you don't know me... and you won't know me because I'll never be back! My sister was so appalled that she just canceled her services as well as and switched accountants while I type this. Miss Yvette, I hope you read this and realize how absolutely disrespectful you are and the customer service you lack. We all have places to be.. next time, lock your doors. Also, be professional, put up your hours OR a sign that says, "No Walk-In's". read more

I used Yvette the last 3 years for taxes. The thing that always bothered me was Yvette prefers to spend more time talking about herself and socializing than she does talking about taxes. It's an unprofessional trait and it's distracting for both her and the client. I'll give an example of why this is a problem. I recently received an IRS notice that I owed money from a 2018 filing. The notice said I didn't report all income and referenced a NON TAXABLE retirement pension. I had only been retired for 5 months when this return was completed by Yvette and the only documents I had was my employer W2 along with other basic documents for filings. She was aware I was newly retired at the time of our appointment. She knows how the retirements work for the city I worked for and she knows what documents are required for retired employees. Every accountant knows what a 1099R form is (and now so do I). Further, Yvette prides herself on working with A LOT of employees for the city which I was employed and retired from. If you don't believe me, ask her. She'll tell you all about it....for 30 mins....while you're there to do your taxes. Even if you dont ask, she'll probably talk about it. Since I was newly retired I discussed this with Yvette during this appointment. She still made no mention of the document needed to complete the tax return. There is no reason for her not to use that conversation as an opportunity to verify I had the necessary documents and or to educate me for future tax returns. But she didn't. Probably because Yvette spends 90% of the clients time talking about Yvette. So I contact Yvette about this via email. I ask her to call me. She doesn't call. She sends me an email saying the form should have been provided to her at the time of the filing. Well no kidding. But who's job is it to verify it's there and advise if it's missing? She offered no kind of apology and no kind of concern for the hassle it's causing. So I call her office and leave a message to call me because this seems like an easier way to talk about something of this magnitude. She doesn't call. Instead she continues to email me multiple times. Her solution is to file an amendment and charge me $275 for something she overlooked in the first place. I tell her I don't mind paying a portion of the $275 but I don't think it's fair to charge full price when she is at least somewhat responsible for not catching this error at the time I filed. She refuses to acknowledge any fault and instead tells me "it's the taxpayers responsibility to bring all the documents." So she's got me in a corner and she knows it. She can charge whatever she wants and knows I'm at the mercy of an accountant to help me get out of a problem that SHE IS responsible for. My reply is to remind her she got paid to turn in a complete return and the least she could do was accept some form of responsibility for not catching the missing document at the time. Honestly I would have paid the full $275 and been done with it but she couldn't even muster up the smallest acknowledgment of responsibility. She was completely denying any roll in the error. So rather than being a professional about it and trying to meet me half way or explain how this oversight happened, she gets offended that my opinion was she bares somewhat of a responsibility. She sends an email saying "I won't let anyone insinuate my office made a mistake.....find another accountant to assist you with YOU'RE error." Apparently clients aren't allowed to suggest Yvette made an error! She can't even admit at the core of this issue is the fact she overlooked something was missing on a return and she can't handle someone calling that into question. I can't say I'm surprised though. Sounds like the kind of behavior you'd expect from someone who is obsessed with talking about herself for the duration of a clients appointment for tax returns. I immediately found a new accountant who laughed in disbelief and was disgusted by Yvettes response when I told him this story. Further, it's his practice (as is the practice of others) to cover the cost of an amendment when it's their oversight. It's his opinion this IS an accountant oversight, not a client. Finally, don't trust the excellent reviews. She gives clients a card offering discounts for good Yelp reviews. read more

I think it is my civic duty to share my terrible experience with everyone. As I was very busy, I asked my Mom to find a CPA to do our simple taxes. Later, I was going to find out that not only she is not a CPA, but also does not have any accounting education. In fact, she is an ANTHROPOLOGIST. At this point I was not surprised that she was not able to handle our primitive case properly, but I was shocked at how dishonest, ruthless, and rude she is. So, without consulting with us, she put my parents as dependents on my file while both my parents work and pay taxes. By the time she filed our taxes it had been 2 weeks that the stimulus bill had been passed, which stated that dependents did not qualify for the stimulus check. Basically, by putting my parents as dependents, she saved me $300 in the loss of $2400. Even to an anthropologist, it should have seemed not reasonable. We contacted her in hopes that she would apologize and try to find a solution to her obvious ignorance (she could amend the case or at least not charge us for her poor quality services), but she only attacked and yelled hysterically trying to cover up her fault and lack of understanding in what she is doing. I swear we would not make a big deal out of it if she accepted her fault and tried to find a solution to her mistakes, or generally if she behaved professionally. The most frustrating part was that she kept trying to fool us with her lies. When I asked why she had not consulted with us before putting my parents as dependents, her answer was that I had signed and authorized her to do so. She meant the IRS e-file Signature Authorization form which does not state anything about dependency. When I pointed out that because of her ignorance my parents were not going to get the stimulus checks ($2400 and we needed it really bad), at first she said that anyway they were not going to get it, because they were dependents in my 2018 taxes as well (here I am not sure whether she was trying to fool us or actually, she is not able to read a law and understand it), and then she said it was our responsibility to mention that we were interested in getting the stimulus package. You know what???? We only want to pay taxes and hire a dishonest and mannerless anthropologist like you to COMPLICATE OUR LIVES. Also, she charges an arm and a leg for her low-quality services. My advice is, always hire and an actual CPA with solid educational background. Lastly, I would like to thank Anna (the receptionist) for being very nice, professional and well-mannered.
