Having some persistent problems with what I like to call " the frustranger", I asked my doctor if…read moreshe could recommend a counselor. She recommended Angela Gurno at Legacy Valley Counseling, and I'm so happy she did. Angela is a beautiful, bright, beaming ray of light. She's smart as a whip and funny. She's not too gentle and not too tough; she's like the porridge Goldilocks would've eaten -- just right. I don't know what else I should say about her, because I get the feeling she uses her powers to adjust her care to her patients' needs and personalities. She's really kind of a bada$$. There's no accounting for taste, of course, but if you're shopping for a counselor, I highly recommend Angela Gurno. And I'd lay money on the other ladies at Legacy Valley being good eggs, too. Check out their profiles on their website.

I went to counseling when I was a child (forced through a divorce) and hated it. Her counseling changed my mind. She listened like another person (rather than a doctor who is examining you). That's what you need. My sister forced me to go and I am appreciative of that. Even if you try once, it will be worth it.

Prior to finding Transcend Health Solutions, I had tried talk therapies, multiple medications, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and biofeedback for my Complex PTSD... Yet, nothing has helped until Transcend. My therapist Emily and my RN Katie are AMAZING!! I ALWAYS feel safe and in excellent hands with these ladies, always having my best interests at hand. I have not finished my treatment yet, but WOW, I am starting to feel whole again. I can not thank you enough for what you all do. I highly recommend!!!

I have spent years working with various therapies, medications, and supplements to remedy my…read moregeneral anxiety. I had read a little about the success of ketamine assisted psychotherapy for anxiety (among other things). Transcend just opened up nearby, and I decided to give it a shot. In 6 sessions, it changed my life. That droning "baseline" anxiety I would always feel is gone, my outlook on life dramatically improved, and I no longer feel irritable. Most ketamine clinics just give you some ketamine and send you on your way (check the therapeutic ketamine subreddit and see what others do). Transcend is unique in that you are talking with a psychotherapist during the entire infusion, which is much more therapeutic than ketamine, alone. Then there's Will. He's the head nurse on staff at Transcend. He goes out of his way to make sure you are getting the most out of your therapy. In addition, he probably knows more about the research and science behind ketamine therapy than most doctors in the field. He is passionate about this field, and is enthusiastic to discuss and field questions from you. I can't thank the team a Transcend Ketamine enough for the positive impact they had on my life.

Stephanie really is the best trauma therapist in San Antonio. I have been telling this to everyone…read moreI know since I met her in 2012 when I moved here. She is a deeply educated member of a select group of people who was trained and continued to train with the foremost trauma expert (in substance, sex, codependency etc.) Pia Melody at the foremost trauma and sexual abuse clinic in the world, the Meadows. These are the gold standards for this type of treatment and Stephanie's understanding and application of these techniques amazes me. As someone who had several deep traumas (date rape, attempted rape etc) when I was young, I have been familiar with these techniques for nearly 40 years and Stephanie is no doubt the best I have seen after living in Austin and Philadelphia and seeing the best there. Although I have had tremendous recovery and led a terrific life despite these early traumas it is only because of a lot of work and continued work on myself. Stephanie has recently undertaken to learn a new technique called RIM, which is for those with deep trauma and also those like myself who want to continue to grow. She has sought out and done intensive training which built upon her Pia training, and long term and lauded experience as a therapist makes her an unmatchable in this area. I personally have gotten so much out of my work with Stephanie. I leave feeling so fortunate to know an work with this truly gifted person. She is honest and direct, yet empathetic in her approach. Her deep knowledge of the area, her own integrity about her experiences give me a sense of trust in her that is unparalleled. t if you want an honest and empathetic person who has helped to heal many people, including me you should choose Stephanie.
