I called Coulton's to convert a Maytag clothes dryer from propane to NG. The technician came without a mask and seemed miffed when politely asked to wear a mask and observe basic Covid19 protocols. He re-entered wearing the mask below his chin. After the conversion, he asked if we would like the washer/dryer set connected to the water supply and the doors of both machines reversed to match the new setup. We asked that he please do that work. We paid the $225 bill and he left. A short time later I noticed that the hot water hookup was leaking. I shut it off, pulled the machine out and mopped up. A new $0.50 washer would have made the seal leak proof. It was not a burst hose, but leaking at the connection. It was leaking from the time he made the connection. The technician may say he was using our hoses, so he is not at fault, (I've read some of their technicians responses to other poor reviews and they sound like they are aspiring lawyers, which may be why the quality of their repair work is suffering). It is a simple garden hose, hand tightened fitting, not some kind of highly technical fusion of rare and unusual materials. It's literally no harder than connecting a garden hose correctly. If you can't be bothered to check a connection you made for leaks, you should probably consider another line of work. The combination of poor work, a bad attitude and a disregard for the most basic Covid19 PPE means I can't recommend Coulton's Appliance Service and I wouldn't use them again, even if only to connect a garden hose. read more

I have needed Coulton's Appliance Service to come out twice recently and I have been impressed with their quick response, professionalism and workmanship. They kept me informed of when the technician would arrive so I did not have to wonder in that 4 hour window. Each time the technician came out he was very thorough, courteous and capable. The last one was my dryer which was not heating and he was able to fix the heating element along with a few other items he found that could likely break down in the near future. Called today and needed my dryer fixed, they didn't have an opening until next week, but said they'd try to squeeze me in if they could. 2 hours later, they were able to squeeze me in, and the technician quickly diagnosed the problem, but found a couple other minor things along the way...which he fixed, and now my dryer works like a champ! Coulton's was amazing on a Friday afternoon my freezer door broke and wouldn't shut I called the business where we purchased (of course 13 months ago so not on warranty anymore) and they said it would be 7-10 days before they can come out. I asked them if they could at least come and get the door closed to save all our food and they said no. I called Coultons because my bottom oven was not working. Russ came, it took him 2 hours to find the reset button on the bottom oven. When finally located, he charged me $184. After he left the top oven would not work. He came back after 2 phone calls and in less than a minute he discovered an oven timer knob was turned in the wrong direction. After turning the knob upright, the oven heated up. He charged me $44.50 for one minute work. When I asked him for his card, he put a metal sticker with "Coulton" written on it and placed it on the inside of top oven. The metal sticker cannot be removed. Guess he has to make a buck no matter what. read more

Nice, knowledgeable and fixed all of the problems quickly and inexpensively (washer needed new washer knob, timer, and agitator dogs, and dishwasher had a frozen water pump). Coulton 's contacted corporate to try to find a way for the company rather than me to need to pay. They made several phone calls to Whirlpool to get them to make things right. Total Rip off. We called Coulton's because our dryer wasn't dispersing heat. First, they charged us $95 just to come out and do a service call. The technician determined the heating element (coil) needed replacing. He gave us a $225 estimate ON TOP of the $95 service fee. My husband stopped the service right then and there - so he only left with a check for the $95. We looked up the cost of the part, and it retailed for $4.95 on Amazon! Thank goodness we can fix the issue on our own. We thought we were saving ourselves time by calling this place. My advice - watch out for Coulton's they will rip you off. read more

Lucas was awesome. He was able to diagnose and repair my oven in short order. It wasn't firing on at all and needed a new part which he had on his service truck. I happened to mentioned my oven never calibrated correctly so Lucas took the time to check the calibration and determine how off the temp reading was and adjusted it accordingly. After 7+ years I finally have an oven that is spot on. ( I had a previous repair several years ago by a different company to adjust the calibration and they were never able to get the adjustment to work.) He took it apart so I could wash both sides if the window that has been driving me crazy for ages. Reassembled the door and was on his way. Maybe our repairman, Russ, was having a bad day.... he was not friendly at all, he was in a rush, complaining the whole time about the workmanship of our daughter's house which had nothing to do with the washing machine problem and came off rude. Samsung refrigerator stopped cooling due to ice buildup behind the panels. Good analysis by Lucas the tech who came out for the initial service call on time. $125 because it was a Samsung. Ordered the parts needed and returned the next day as scheduled by the good dispatcher. Got the refrigerator up and running just fine. It's a 7 year old appliance that's never had any problems, but after this long a time I sort of expected something and certainly don't want to cough up $2K for a new one. $300 total.
