Unprofessional DON'T BRING YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS TO WORK. We came here with friends to eat some food and have a good time. One of our friends was asked to leave due to our server having a personal problem with him. Easily could've changed servers. We really wouldn't of cared or noticed. Later after he was asked to leave the SERVERS (more than one) stood at the cash register, looked at our booth and laughed.. childish. Don't mind at all just keep your work and personal business separate. Especially if the other person honestly doesn't care about you, just second hand embarrassment at that point. I was staying in Corsicana while moving cross-country (lost my job due to COVID-19). I was exhausted and hungry, and decided to treat myself to something delicious for Easter dinner before going back to my hotel. I took my take-out bag to a park in hopes of quietly enjoying my meal outdoors after a very long day, only to find there was no silverware. It's a to-go order - come on, service industry. I pack up my food and go BACK to the restaurant, where I have to ask for cutlery. Resigned to spending even more time in my car, I sit in the parking lot and pull my food out before it gets completely cold. I had ordered chicken fried steak, which comes with two sides and rolls and all of what you would expect, according to their menu...except my huge portion of chicken fried steak doesn't have any gravy. Can we all appreciate that without the gravy, the steak isn't worth eating? It's just bland and fried and underwhelming. I even verified the online menu to make sure I wasn't crazy; indeed ALL of their "southern dishes" are supposed to come with gravy. Cool; thanks for forgetting this detail of my meal. We were passing through town and were hungry for lunch. We checked as many restaurants as we could find on Yelp and this one sound like it would be good. We were seated right away and got our drinks. Our server came over and asked if we needed any help with the menu. they have lunch specials every day so I ordered the Fish Tacos with fries and my wife ordered the Chicken and dumplings. They bring you two little loafs of hot bread while you wait. The 3 tacos arrived and had a fairly small size piece of fish on each and covered with pico. Also had a hot cheese sauce to add which was quite good as well. My wife's dumplings were good. Overall the food was alright but, I believe overpriced for what you get. The service was very good. We ate here both coming and going in our trip from Mississippi to Austin. Dinner on the way to Austin we had small sirloin steaks, cooked nicely rare as ordered, good salad, and nice choice of sides. Returning home we were pleased to see they had a dietary limitations menu; my wife chose a bunless cheeseburger with baked potato and I had the grilled salmon with nicely prepared veggies and salad. Prices are reasonable and service was adequate, perhaps a little on the slow side, but the restaurant was virtually full when we were there for lunch. read more

Great restaurant - if you crave lots of salt and grease. My wife adores a good chicken fried steak, but she left half of a medium-sized serving when she usually will devour a "hanging off the plate" serving. I had the pork chops that had so much salt on them that I left two thirds of the second one. Mashed (really "smashed with skins") were pretty decent, and the broccoli wasn't overcooked. Stopped in for a quick lunch instead of the usual fast-food burger. We were pleasantly surprised. Clean restrooms, tasty food, friendly service. In and out within an hour during mid day lunch crowd. Good ratio of waitresses and bus-boys to patrons. Music was just low enough to be heard without overbearing. Not to noisy for a cafe. Seemed staff was especially keen to not toss dishes around as you hear at most popular establishments. Good experience overall. Well we struck gold again. What a wonderful restaurant located by reviewing the reviews. From the moment we walked in we were greeted cordially and seated in a big old Booth, and got our drinks and a little bit of bread and butter to start things out. Oh yeah it was warm bread, and it melted that butter so nicely. I got a turkey club sandwich with onion rings and I have to say those onion rings were perfect perfect perfect. Maybe some of the best onion rings ever, that would be a big test and hard to confirm. Anyway I really like them. Now the sandwich oh my God it was perfect too. And I mean it had all the right ratio of all the right things and plenty of it. You couldn't quite get your mouth around the whole thing so you just had to keep gnawing on it. until you got the whole thing consumed. That's good cuz I enjoyed every bite. She loved her salad equally and looked at me and said this place is five star. Well that's what I wrote and that's what I mean and I sure come back here in a New York Minute. Even if it is in Texas. Came here on the way to Dallas because of the yelp reviews. Spot on! Yummy comfort food all the way around! Menu is big enough to satisfy anyone. Chicken fried steak is solid, chicken and dumplings are very tasty, veggies are good and broccoli rice casserole is outstanding. Bonus-pecan pie is served warm! The service is fast and friendly! My husband and I stopped in while headed home from a trip to East Texas. I ordered the chicken and dumplings and the bowl was about 1/2 full. It had plenty chicken but only 1/2 of 1 dumpling. So basically it was just soup and chicken. When the waitress asked if everything was ok, I told her there were no dumplings in the bowl and she just said I'm sorry and walked away. Amazingly bad, not sure why the place is always crowded. Half the strawberries on my chicken pecan salad were brown / starting to rot on one side, lettuce / greens were wilted and some black and slimey from sitting in the bag too long, chicken had been sitting in a bin under a heat lamp for a few hours too long. Rolls were good, service was great. The most disgusting aspect was the brown sun shade blinds in the front of the restaurant with about 10 years worth of spills and splashes / chuncks of food stuck to them. I've always loved the fried mushrooms and chicken fried steak at this restaurant. I haven't been there in the past year but was quite excited to have lunch there today. Unfortunately, this lunch was not as good as I have memories of. The fried mushrooms were ALL batter with no seasoning. The chicken fried steak was so tough and chewy, I felt sorry for the knife having to work so hard. 80% of my order was left to throw away. The table beside us complained their order of chicken was red by the bone and called the manager over. She was very pleasant and said she would rectify the problem. Poor lady didn't get her chicken until her party of 5 was through eating so she asked for it to go. Service was very good so I'm giving the 2 stars to that. I won't be back though. :( read more

Overall, I liked it. Friendly folks. Blue cheese wedge salad was very good (though it was brought with my entree though I'd requested the salad to come first.) Also had the burger with blue cheese and jalapenos (don't remember their cutesy name for it) which was good if not great. When we first pulled up the place was packed! Cotton Patch Cafe starts you off with some free rolls. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. These were the BEST fried green tomatoes I've ever had! They seemed to have like a cereral/panko crust that was awesome. The dipping sauce was fabulous! I ordered the shiner beer battered fish and french fries. Everyone at my table loved my fish. It was the bomb.com! The fries on the other hand, were some of the worst fries i've ever had. My sister ordered the chicken tenders and they were super dry. CPC had some hits and misses. Overall I enjoyed it. read more
