We initiated cleaning services approximately 6 months ago, having services one time per month. We have been able to keep the same cleaning lady (Destiny) for most of these visits. She is attentive and willing to listen to suggestions, such as moving items off the furniture for dusting, instead of dusting around the items. We were concerned that initially, the cleaning of our 1400 square foot upper level required 2 hours to complete; on one of the cleaning appointments, the work was completed in 1 hour and 15 minutes. We were certain that a thorough cleaning might not have occurred. We addressed this concern, and requested "quality" not "speed." Not the cheapest service in town, but punctuality and dependability are important, both being exhibited by Destiny. The reminder call the day before service is appreciated also. read more

We had Cottage Care do a deep house cleaning recently. Their prices were high compared to other services but they assured us they were very thorough. The price ended up significantly higher than the quote and the cleaning was unacceptable. There were cobwebs left and surfaces untouched and at least one floor that was never washed. I contacted them about my dissatisfaction and never heard back. Would not recommend. You can do better for less money. read more

I had hired a different company to do a clean up on the house I just sold. It was scheduled the same day as the closing and our move, but the night before they backed out. I understand that emergencies happen with employees, but they left me high and dry. I called CottageCare and they saved the day!! We have used Cottage Care several times to get ready for major events in our home. So this year, the three of us decided to treat our mother for Mother's Day. The price was very reasonable. Mom was tickled with the service, the professionalism and the end results. Casey was very attentive. I moved to the downtown area in des moines a month ago. I'm from the east coast and was relocated here for work and had a cleaning service my entire life. This definitely the worst service I ever had. I called cottage care for a cleaning service and charged me $114 for a 1 bedroom 1.5 bath. They promised a thorough clean and it was definitely a fly by. When I came home, there was still cheese/food crumbs on counter from my dinner the night before, dog food on the floor by his bowl (not sure how the cleaned the floor), same dust on buffet cabinet (still the black dust from the movers), did not vaccum the couch or chair has promised, dust/dirt from the movers on the china cabinet, chairs, etc. The coffee pot wasn't cleaned out. Didn't wipe down the appliances, especially the refigerator. Upstairs, they didn't clean the lamps or wipe down the stuff on the dresser (candles, vase, etc). I hired Cottage Care two days ago for a move out cleaning based on a recommendation from a friend. First, the referral discount does not work on a move out cleaning so don't expect that. The biggest issue is I still ended up cleaning after hiring a "professional" service. My realtor called to inform me that the photographer had said there is a strong cat litter smell when you walk in the house...extremely embarrassing! The corners in the half bath (cat litter location when I lived in the house) were missed, behind the sink and toilet were not cleaned, they basically just skipped the hard parts. In addition to the half bath, there were many other areas that were half done. Also, the baseboards and outside of cabinets appear to not have been cleaned. It looks like they came in, vacuumed, wiped down the hardwood floors, wiped down the counters, and took the check. The house was just surface cleaned which I could have easily done myself. I hired a professional company for what I expected to be a professional job and got a half-ass job for full price (plus a tip). Do not hire this company unless you are satisfied with not so professional quality. My friend who recommended them has also had to clean after they came to his house. He will also be reaching out to let them know of his dissatisfaction. Why hire someone when you just have to do the work anyway? That's what you'll get with CottageCare. Update: within a few hours of posting this review the local office called me to apologize and give me a full refund. I really appreciate the quick response and remedy to the situation. I am really happy with CottageCare after the first four cleanings... After years of thinking about hiring a cleaning service, we finally decided to do it, and now I'm kicking myself for not signing up sooner! We have CottageCare come every two weeks to clean bathrooms and the kitchen, and it's the best feeling to come home and see that the chores I really hate to do are already done! I like that CottageCare has no contracts and we can schedule service on any rotation (weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.) with no issues. The staff is friendly and courteous. Kacee, the local manager, is easy to work with and calls every once in a while to make sure we're happy with our experience. She typically contacts me the day before our scheduled cleaning to verify the arrival time and to see if we have any special needs/requests. Very responsive cleaning company and I love coming home to a clean house! SOOOO worth it, and wish I had signed up years ago. read more
