Where do i begin... The staff were incredibly rude from the moment we entered their establishment…read more Actually, it was who i presume to be the owners that were particularly horrible. THEY CHARGED US FOR TAP WATER!!! And to charge your phone and apparently waiting for your friend to finish ordering a drink from the bar is "frowned upon" in the literal sense that the owner stared us out and made snarky comments until we left. Its a real shame because the pub itself is beautiful and they could make a lot of money from the campsite (which is down the road a little bit) however they have really lost out on so much business as we were not the only people to comment on how poor the service was. Id recommend not going into a profession that requires human contact. They seemed to be consistently mad at us for trying to spend our money there. It wouldn't have surprised me if they took an extra long time to make our takeaway food after they saw our taxi was waiting for us in the car park, just to rack up our bill. The campsite itself is, as they made abundantly clear, nothing to do with the pub and is unsurprisingly a really lovely place to be - so please don't not go there, just be aware that the trolls working at the pub might steal your money and your soul. The cottage of content is well worth the 20 minute walk down the road as the people there are awesome and friendly. Not to mention their food was insanely tasty.

This place was/is PHENOMENAL! We've heard about this place -- in Hereford of all places!! -- from…read moreour friends back stateside and those who have visited Hereford, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Bunch of Carrots is a classic & traditional English pub serving great food and meals between £7-£11/person. To start with: I had a Mortimr's Cider which was fantastic! The cider is the offers a sweetness from the apple, but not too sweet. For the entree, I had the "Carving Selection" which is an offering of fresh meats and roasts along with various sides. Today (1/05/16) they served roasted pork, veal, and beef along with traditional pudding, sausage, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cheddar & broccoli, and so much more! All of the food was delicious and so flavorful!! While the food was great, what separates this place is the atmosphere! It's in a quaint old building full of character and charm. Everything in the building - the tables, the art, the ceilings - all contribute to the experience and take you back in time. If you're ever in the area, you have to stop by and check this place out!

It has a car park next to the pub which can sometimes can get full. They also have some seats in the garden. The food is all of good quality and reasonabally priced

A lovely local pub in Winterbourne Down…read more This has been my family's local pub for around 20 years and it hasn't changed one bit. It's still as charming, still has the same locals, still the same landlord and, I think, still the same roaring log fire. The Cross Hands doesn't do food, but it does do lots of guest ciders, ales and a brilliant atmosphere. The landlord and landlady (Pete and Lesley) are great (Pete is the spitting image of Peter Stringfellow - with open shirt and hairy chest) and make you feel like part of the furniture - which can make leaving quite difficult at times! Friday nights are good fun. Typical local pub style. A bit of cheese on the jukebox and a good mix of young'ens and old'ens to keep it interesting from one end of the pub to the other. But the best thing about this pub isn't its huge back garden. It isn't the fact you can use one of their massive BBQ's and bring your own meat/food. It isn't even the regular events they hold in the summer with live bands and cider in boxes. The best thing about the Cross Hands is the pub dog. A beautiful Staffordshire Bull terrier who has the gentlest demeanour and wonderful personality. She'll pin her belly to the ground and wiggle her way over to say hello. All the while snorting like a little pig. She has her own arm chair and sits with the locals who play cards on the big round table from 4pm every day. This is a lovely little boozer that has a huge garden for the summer and wonderful warm log fire for the winter. As it is out of town, you can knock 40-80p off the price of pint. A must if you're in the area.

This place has tons of character and a great choice of beers ciders and ales all at a very reasonable price. There is a beautiful big garden out back or benches out front if you fancy just sitting and watching the world drift by. Pete the barman is one of lifes winners always there with a warm welcome and a joke or two for you to enjoy. Stick a lepord print thong on him and marvel at the way he transform into Peter Stringfellow oh yeah ! All in all a class bozzer in the country.
