Great breakfast all day spot when you are in Munich! We headed here Monday mid-morning and it was already hopping, so if you can, make reservations. There were still seats open so we were sat in just a couple minutes . The menu is pretty large and they have daily specials too, so it was hard to pick as everything sounded good. They have sweet and savory breakfast items and then bowls and non-breakfast selections. Picked the daily special coffee- pumpkin spice latte which had homemade spice blend and was so good and not-artificial tasting. Then got the Mountain Joy, which was a scrambled egg with soft salty cheese and arugula on a pretzel croissant (yes that's correct). It was perfect flavors and delicious. Many dishes looked big, so my meal was perfect if you were very hungry. You can add to the sandwiches, salmon or avocado, if you wanted as well. Service was nice and attentive when needed but they also left plenty of time to enjoy your table company. Will go back! read more

On our super long daytime layover in Munich, we were desperate to find a place that opened early (we left the airport around 7AM) and served delicious and fresh foods. Cotidiano is a chain it seems, with locations all over Munich. We chose Gartnerplatz as it wasn't too far of a walk after exiting their public bahn system. Easily noticeable from the street, we ducked in to avoid the freezing cold. The inside is so inviting, from their fresh pastry display case, to the approachable and friendly servers who masterfully take care of all the patrons even though they are understaffed. Impressive. Boo and I were pretty hungry and wanted to treat ourselves to a nourishing breakfast, so we started with some coffee and OJ then ordered the muesli, belgian waffle (our favorite), the croissant and egg breakfast dish (forgot the name) and he wanted the pretzel because...GERMANY. The belgian waffle was SO delicious and moist almost like a cake-like batter without the heaviness of it. Their fruits in the muesli were so generous in portion, and the croissant dish was my favorite. It's so delicious and filling, and we really felt rejuvenated after our long flight from India. Their menu literally has everything one could want from alcohol to cakes and sandwiches. We also saw families, couples, and all different groups and sizes dining there that morning which tells me that this place is delicious and an enjoyable space. The one caveat is that there is no wifi. So travellers who are looking for a cafe restaurant with wifi, should go elsewhere. However, their restrooms downstairs are a-plenty and very clean, and the ambiance is so brightly-lit and warm...we both felt so comfortable dining here as foreigners. I have walked by here numerous times and it was always full. Finally we decided to give it a try and waited outside for a table to free up. It was well worth the wait :-) Its a breakfast, brunch and lunch kind of place with some other bits thrown in like a nice long list of drinks including spritzes. Very few places in town serve breakfast all day and this one does at least on weekends. They have a takeaway counter with breads and prepared sandwiches and so on. The service was good and friendly, food arrived quickly and drinks were also served quickly. All this despite being packed for the whole time we were there. My breakfast was very good and I liked it a lot. I had the Hugo Orientalisches which is a spritz with pomegranate and it was nice. Would happily come here any day. It's a gorgeous cafe located in a great location with lots of outdoor seating and great food :-) read more

Inside is very spacious and the terrace outside is also large. Obviously it's difficult to find an outside seat when the weather is nice. Before I ordered my partner said that the breads/sandwiches/baguettes are usually rather thick and the spread is spread on rather thinly. So that was the mindset before ordering. When my 1/2 baguette with tuna salad arrived, it looked like my partner was right. The spread seamed to be spread on like they were running out and had to make it last a few more orders. However! The baguette tasted really nice! I squeezed the lemon part out over the spread which gave it a nice sour twang. The amount of bread and spread turned out to be perfect! The salad was very tasty. The small pieces of gherkin were nice. The bread was also very nice. At first glance the amount of cheese seemed a bit small, but in reality it turned out to be just right. Often you get a 'tuna melt' or something similar with just to much cheese on top so the sandwich doesn't only get very fatty but the tuna taste also gets drowned in the cheese. I was trying to compare this baguette with my fav tuna sandwich in Amsterdam, but both are great, simply different. The oriental platter was okay, humous was nice but the rest wasn't to my personal preferences. Gärntnerplatz is easily becoming one of my favourite Munich hangouts. read more

I really don't know what to make of this place. It has perfectly dimmed lighting, great music, delicious food aroma, and a nice crowd, making it perfect for an evening with friends or a romantic dinner. But... it was not all that I expected. Went with a group of 6, and it seemed that something was off with nearly everyone's meal. One friend got the wrong dish altogether and had to wait to eat until the right one had been prepared, my soup was really cold and had to be taken back to be reheated (twice), and one of the couples received their meals, but no silverware. The server was very apologetic about the whole thing and brought us complementary dessert (delicious). For all the fuss though, the food was not amazing. I'll go back for the atmosphere, and see if the "ghost haunting our table," as the server put it, has taken up residence elsewhere. read more

Nice products, great quality, friendly staff.... You can eat yourself full with a healthy meal or with something less healthy, but everything is amazing. Before anyone bites my head off, please note that this review is only for Cotidiano's brunch offering :) Since it is located in the trendy Gärtnerplatz, expect to wait a while for both service and food. My friend and I decided to simply sit outside, although it was a bit cold, and cover up with a blanket. We were NOT going to wait in that line. Geez.....you would have thought people were lining up for the newest iPhone. That's how crazy it was there. The biggest downside of sitting outside there is the fact that a few bus lines pass right next to it, so every 3 minutes or so a bus will drive by and give you a hefty serving of engine exhaust with your croissant and eggs hahah. As for their breakfast offerings, they do have quite a selection which is certainly a breath of fresh air. However, I can't help but think it wasn't worth the price : / I think the lunch menu is a lot more interesting, flavorful, and has a bigger variety. I will definitely come back here for lunch and one of their yummy sweets soon :) read more

Prepare to wait more than 30-60m during peak times if your party is larger than 4 because they tend to let smaller parties jump ahead and don't allow you to join tables. Outside is open seating. ATTENTION ALL TOURISTS/NON-GERMAN SPEAKERS (AND PERHAPS GERMAN SPEAKERS AS WELL): Please don't make the same mistake we did. First, the pros (which is why I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1); they make a very good ginger orange tea... and based on that, I assume their other teas must be quite delicious as well. Now for the cons; they did not honor our order the way we requested it and despite apologizing to us for their error they still had the audacity to charge us. I explained in great detail, when placing our order that included their steak strip burger, that my 6-year old son is a picky eater and therefore everything on the burger must be placed on the side with exception of the steak and bacon. The waitress asked if the "burger sauce" was okay to include and I informed her that it too must be placed on the side. In addition I requested a cold milk for him. A few minutes later she serves him the children's cappuccino which is hot, frothy milk. My son complained (because he does not like the "suds") and while I sympathized with his frustration I also encouraged him to accept it and understand that we're in another country and they do things differently here. However, when the steak burger arrived with the "burger sauce" (which appeared to include onions) all over the bun, tomato included and NOTHING on the side, my son wouldn't touch it. The sauce had permeated the meal for him. The man who seated us asked if everything was alright as my son sulked staring at what he received. I explained to him what had happened and he awkwardly apologized and moved along. Our waitress saw this exchange and deliberately avoided our table for some time. I thought the man would surely share with her what he learned and she would come over and make things right by either giving us a new steak burger or at the very least not charging us for the cost of it, but sadly that is not the service we received. She eventually did come to our table to ask if everything was ok and despite apologizing for the error and our displeasure she charged us for the burger. It was particularly disheartening to see how pleased she was when it became clear to her that we weren't going to cause a stir about it. So, in sum, IF YOU LIKE TO GET WHAT YOU ORDERED AND DON'T LIKE TO MAKE A SCENE ABOUT IT WHEN YOU DON'T GET WHAT YOU ORDERED, THEN DEFINITELY DON'T COME HERE! I also agree with other reviewers that the prices are high for what you get. For example, my son's steak strip burger had only 2 strips of steak and 1 slice of bacon for 13.90 euros. I agree that the prices are more reflective of the neighborhood and not the food - and most definitely not the service. read more
