He refused to write a report and required that we exchange ID and insurance information, so now this stranger, who had no need for my personal drivers license with my number, address, and date of birth on it, pretty scary.

As 50% of car seats are installed incorrectly. It never hurts to have a professional check them out. Officer Brian Hiss took his his time to show us a proper installation on our 2 vehicles. He took the time to answer all of our questions we had (and boy did we have A LOT of them) The California Highway Patrol does car seat inspections on Thursdays only. I'm not accustomed to fair treatment from all law-enforcement personnel including some CHP in the past. Last night I was pissed off over some personal issues and driving down 101 with my son. I did something reckless and got pulled over. I was rude to the officers and they asked me "how much of you had to drink " having not drank for over a decade I was insulted and they knew it. Given the way I was driving they had every right to pull me over and that's their job. Point is this, what happened to me should not happen to any man or family. The rudeness I displayed was a result of my decisions , not theirs. Despite being rude to them and argumentative once they heard my story they came back and handed me my info and told me to have a good night. They were actually hunting for DUI . Personally I think there are a tremendous number of bad apples in law enforcement. It's really cool to come across some of the good ones that are not self-serving looking to put up numbers .Ones that realize that there's the letter of the law and the spirit of the law and both are equally important .Thanks for keeping our roads safe and for cleaning up the messes that others don't want to . There is still the need for a lot of change in order to make relations with the public better but it's nice that they sometimes use their discretionary authority to give a broken person a break once in a while . It was nice to be answered and the person who answered was pleasant enough, but was 1) condescending, and 2) not helpful. Condescending "Hwy 1 is a long highway, I need more information." (doh!) Not helpful "we can't tell you where the flooding is, really." We tried to explain that one flood detour at Bloomfield had led to this corner where to the left and the right were closures. So people (more than just me, maybe 6 or so cars) were taking the long detour only to have to turn around and go BACK to the original point of detour and figure out on their own that the best route to Bodega Bay was to head up Bloomfield to Sebastopol, then cross over from there back to HWY 1, or Rte 1 as https://roadclosures-sonomacounty.hub.arcgis.com/ labels it on their map. The point is that there was no desire to help. It was clear that something was going on because we did see an emergency vehicle with lights flashing head towards Valley Ford past the closure and towards the flooding. The "detour" led us to a dead end. I think the person was right in saying "we do not have real time information" (I paraphrase) but they could have been more helpful and said, "head to higher ground like Sebastopol, then try that way, depending on flooding you may encounter".

The dedication and attention to each situations, which I have observed (er, um, or been part of) is both astounding and admirable. In my own profession, I know that taking in a lot of details, dealing with that particular situation based on the particular circumstances, then compartmentalizing them, and moving in to the next situation, can be tedious and not easily maneuverable. I have seen officers in this department, masterfully pull this off. I have had several officers spot me out in a crowd (I'd like to think that I have a memorable face and not ghastly and horrific interactions), and offer kind words and genuine support.

He told me that they threw balogny sandwhichs at him in the cell, strip searched him, made fun of him and denied him access to visits with grandma and I. They go back into the community often worse off then they went in. This place is a drain on tax payers money, and its full of courruption. Firstly, u can tell they know they're doing a bad job because u cannot find reviews or post any on Google. They've had it TURNED OFF! Secondly, u could tell more money goes in their pockets than to the facility that they get every year for funding because: -Across the board no one will tell u the food is even somewhat palatable there. The clothes are old, stained & smell no matter how much u wash them. -The mattresses for the beds aren't mattresses, they're floor mats. -The facility is disgusting regardless of the "janitor position that keeps it impeccable" like the website says. -It's run down, it's dirty. I'm not sure if any building inspectors have taken a look at it lately but they should. -The only way for inmates to be able to eat is to have money put on their books for commissary- which is only on Sundays to order. I myself have been trying for 3 days to put money on books so he can eat. I just got off the phone with the sheriff's there at the jail and asked if there was some other way besides JailATM to put money on an inmates account. All the different options they put on their website don't work. Sonoma County is not opted in on those things for whatever reason. I did explain to the deputy that even though they list Access Corrections, JPay, TouchPay, etc.. Sonoma County has opted out! Why?! I've had no issues with JailATM before and all the sudden I do now. I need to take a selfie with my ID and send it to them. But nobody's there on the weekends so it doesn't really help me out. Let's not fail to mention the inmates are locked up almost the entire 24 hours in a day. They're pretending like covid is still in full swing like it was 2 years ago. They always use the excuse if they're understaffed for everything they don't want to do whether they're in the jail or out on patrol. It's just they don't want to do their jobs. Cuz they get a lot of funding that is public information you can attain that easily..along with all the lawsuits and charges that have been brought against them. Sonoma County Sheriff has not quite a reputable reputation. They get sued a lot, and it's not surprising.

The employees were okay, but the waiting in line was something else. It's almost similar to the lines at DMV. This time around the line moved quicker. I had to talk to an officer on duty about a crime being committed on one of the streets in Oakland. It was one of those breaking into a vehicle and taking a back pack from the back seat. I took a few photos and showed them to the officer. He is aware of the crime, as several other people reported the crime involving the same vehicle - a black VW. I can only speculate that there is an ongoing investigation occurring. He thanked me for reporting it. If you see this vehicle, do not approach and be safe out there.

We had an officer on the scene less than 5 minutes from the call and the operator (never got her name, cool, understanding) was excellent as well. Officer Lei gave us advice, wrote a report and escorted us from the scene. Made a bad situation better and I appreciate him and Oakland PD a lot. Alameda county may get a lot of stick for their legislature but their officers are trying and I appreciate them helping us out. I'd say after following up it's a 3. OPD/SFPD said it was now a cyber crime and not their problem. Unbelievable. No wonder criminals are so brazen in this city. I honestly don't feel safe ever being in Oakland again. Edit: followed up the report with more info and met a nice mom at the station who explained how inept the Cali courts were. Insane how good people can be forced to show documentation and bureaucratic red tape at every turn when the bad guys get to do whatever they want. Shows why the police force is jaded and beat down.
