AKA, C&C Paving. Horrible work, horrible people. See the attached pics of the absolutely shabby job. They even left the old broken slabs of cement at the end of my driveway and just ghosted us, forcing us to pay someone else to haul it away. The driveway is uneven and full of ruts. This guy is just scamming home owners with his millings. This is just black gravel that never hardens. He did not use a 3" base all his did was put a light layer. It is a mess. I am filing small claims for my money back. I've checked he had no business license nor a fein number that is why he wants cash. Do not use this jerkgor anything. read more

This company does shoddy work. Our driveway went from needing a resurfacing to needing a whole new driveway. It's mostly gravel with nothing holding it together. For 5 grand we expected more than gravel! I would not recommend anyone looking for a sturdy low maintenance drive, to contact Costello Paving. I feel we were taken advantage of. What we are left dealing with isn't worth what we paid for it. We hate it! I have tried a few times to get some help. More promises and NO FOLLOW THROUGH. We want a refund. Good luck with that! Joe came by my house 3 times dropped the price 100 dollars last 2 time. We'll the wife and i a r e retired and really shouldn't of got our Drive way done. But as Joe put it you have a great base already ( I've been adding mostly limerock to it everyother year for 23 years) joe says it will be like a new asphalt drive way. Got it done and was charged 300 dollars than the price he gave me. He knew he was low on the hardener but said he had enough. At the end one of the crew members said he shorted me on hardener. Joe said no he didnt. So after calling the milling supplier i found out that not only was I charged more but did not get the 3" of cover on my base. Not even a year grass grows ,4 nice size pot holes. After many phone calls and texts Joe refuses to answer. I guess my 10 year warranty is as good as his work. Worthless. He was supposed to be laying asphalt for a LEGAL PIT and fucked it up its all uneven, jagged, and definitelynot smooth enoughto slide. He was hireed to do this big job and even said he could do it no problem, ultimately had to have someone else come in and fix this dudes job and he refuses to take accountability or even fix his fuck up. This dude as well as his work and his company are a fucking a joke. He 's bum ass scammer, who does shitty work,and he is actually refusing to take our phone calls so he can own up and fix his mistakes. Terrible quality. Asked for 20 feet wide road for campground and most sections were much narrower. Roads also flooded in many places and sunk in just from small construction trucks driving through. Promised he would come back out to spray a sealer around Halloween time but it's now Dec 3rd. Does not pick up our calls or respond. Stay away from this company!!! read more

This should've had nice straight edges. He insisted on doing this job in the rain. The Bobcat they used had zero tread on its tires so traction was iffy at best. The pile of concrete is from the sidewalk I had them remove. Underneath the concrete is all of the dirt and sod removed for the path to the garage. It is important to note they were supposed to take away that whole pile. "Joe" told me he'd be back the following day to remove that, I objected to that as it was supposed to rain then too. I called him a day or two later asking about the plan to remove that pile, and asked that when they do come to please bring a crew to straighten up the edges. He said OK. I've been leaving him messages (he's no longer taking my calls) for a week now with zero responses. Lessons I've learned: 1. Don't pay him until the job is 100% complete. 2. They're not going to do anything that requires them to get down out of the Bobcat. There's just one guy doing the entire job. 3. Don't let him split the estimate into two invoices. WARNING! USE COSTELLO AT YOUR OWN RISK! WARNING! I detest writing reviews like this. It's a waste of my time, energy and completely avoidable! ...All Costello had to do was what was promised. DO NOT USE unless you enjoy, lies, shoddy work, a useless 10 year warranty, while being duped into comfort by responsiveness and attentiveness during the negotiating process...until the money changes hands! Then you're ghosted. Look at the pics and vids. I needed to repave my driveway (over 1/4 mile) with crushed asphalt. Joe Costello Paving from DeWitt, MI, returned my call and set up an appointment the next day. I was impressed. Three other companies did not respond or didn't show up for an estimate. My driveway had developed many pits, sink holes and depressions over the years that retained water that made the surface very bumpy and they were getting worse. Joe Costello arrived on time, we walked and measured the driveway, and I pointed out what needed to be repaired. He offered an unsolicited "senior discount" and another discount if I paid in cash. Unusual but not my concern. I explained in detail that the existing surface needed to be graded to repair the holes and depressions in the old surface and then install 3" of new HM crushed asphalt on top. We wanted it to be smooth and crowned so the water drains off the surface. He gave me every assurance that this would be done perfectly, and offered me a 10 year warranty as the contract was written. If I was not totally satisfied, he would return to correct any issue saying "The customer is always right"! He would repair even one surface anomaly. He was attentive, always responded to text questions or calls almost immediately, and showed up when he said he was going to be here. Work began to "grade" the driveway 11/27/23.  One unsupervised guy showed up with a Bobcat.  That's all the equipment I ever saw, besides this one employee who allegedly was a "foreman with him for 17 years."  By the time I got back about noon, he was already spreading the new asphalt with the Bobcat only, one bucket at a time, back and forth. I paid Joe the down payment. I was again assured that it will all be smoothed out and packed down with a 5,000 lb roller.  I never saw this roller or any other equipment. 11/28/23 he completed spreading out the new asphalt with the Bobcat.  Again I was assured it would be perfect.  On 11/29 they spread the oil substance on top in the late afternoon after we were in for the day...couldn't use the driveway for at least 6 hours. He was paid in full....my error!  When we finally inspected and drove the driveway on 11/30, we were shocked!  The same pits,  depressions, and holes were all there, in their original position.  They had NOT properly graded and repaired any of the holes and just dumped a new thin layer of asphalt on top.  So, all we got was a new layer of material dumped on top of the existing holes, without filling, repairing and compacting them first.  The driveway was uneven and rippled like a washboard.  So much for the Bobcat! I called immediately and sent a video and he said the material had to "work itself in" and he would call Wednesday morning and come out to discuss the issue.  No call by 11AM, so I called him and he said he would meet Thursday at 1030.  I agreed, he never showed up!  Countless texts, calls and emails followed for 2 weeks. NO RESPONSE!  To this day, NO RESPONSE!  We've been abandoned and ghosted. A useless 10 year warranty tops it all! I highly recommend you TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!! Buyer Be Ware, DO NOT USE COSTELLO PAVING. I do not recommend Costello Paving at all. Joe says all the right things to make you trust him. He tells you he will grade your driveway, add an appropriate base , crown it for proper water shed, and do 3" of compact crushed millings but completely fails to deliver on his promises. He did my LARGE & extensive driveway project & told me it was done when it was a completely rutted and muddy mess, assuring me it would firm up. We made him bring in more & although somewhat better it was still not enough to reach 3" or have appropriate water shed, because he did not base it or prepare it properly nor did he plan the appropriate number of loads needed for our project. At the end, they did a very light spray of toxic oil that penetrated about 2-3mm deep and was worthless in binding the product together especially since he did our project December 6-10 2024 (which I later found out was a big NO NO, according to other reputable pavers for either hot or cold applications) and the only thing the oil accomplished was to make it hard to breathe. He promised the product would be as good or better than regular asphalt and we would be able to plow it this year. Well it is so loose that plowing won't be possible and also one of our garage doors is damaged and punctured. We paid 2/3rds of the entire project and refused payment on the last 1/3rd of this botched job. I hired Costello Paving to pave my 87' driveway. Joe came and measured and gave me a quote w a $200 senior discount. I am not a senior. I told him that and he said, "We just won't tell anyone." I thought I was getting a deal. When they showed up there were 3 men. 2 had lawn chairs that they set up in my yard and used them comfortably. They sprayed weed killer on they driveway before excavation. They left some very raw edges and now water ponds right in front of my garage. Joe told me that being I was a new customer, they would come back in a month and reseal it. I never saw them again and Joe won't answer my calls or texts. This was all done in September of 2023. I bow have many weeds growing up through the shotty job. I am very disappointed with Joe as he said things like, "you have my word and God bless you." When I came home after they finished and got their money I noticed a hole in my fairl new garage door. Joe asked his worker and he denied it but said he would pay half. The panel was above $300 and he was a no show to pay as he said he would. In my book your word is who you are and apparently Joe is not a man of his word. I didn't want to have to leave a negative review but I have to. After a week of having my driveway done with recycled concrete I had a lake in front of my garage... which is why I contacted them to begin with. was assured this would fix the problem. contacted them and was assured they would come back to add more material and fix the issue... and nothing. Tried to contact them again for months and no response from text, email, and calls. Spent thousands of dollars and the issue still isn't fixed. There was also tons of metal in my driveway after this which punctuated my tire and I keep finding more. The weed barrier he apparently said they use is also a joke. I am so disappointed. I feel like he did the bare minimum took my money and ran. I worked hard to save up to get this fixed and now just feel like I am a victim that was robbed.
