It's set in a precint that doesn't really comprise much - just Asda, a travel agents, Chemist and hairdresser. The hairdresser is one of the sit-and-wait ones which is the reason my husband goes here, it's quicker and easier and his hair doesn't need much doing anyway! The store is lacking a cafe but it does have a petrol station and a fancy Arc car wash. The car park recently underwent lots of work and is quite easy to navigate now with plenty of parking spaces. They don't have the biggest selection of clothing but enough if you're just looking for a couple of bits and pieces. Not a lot in the way of electricals at all, and the household and toy sections are basic too. Fully stocked up on food though, and plenty of checkout space. Lots of friendly staff on the tills, and a good returns policy at the customer service desk.

The quick pay service and the free newspaper for myWaitrose members is an added bonus. I go shopping on my motorbike so it helps that I can pack my rucksack and saddle bags as I go rather than all at the end of my shop at the checkout. Enjoy :)

I'd not visited a Tesco Extra store before, so this one was a new experience for me. I can best sum…read moreit up by saying that it's simply vast. I stopped here to buy some petrol on the way up to York - and ended up having a cup of coffee in the in-store Costa Coffee. I'm not quite sure how I would cope using this for my ordinary weekly shop, but I'd certainly need comfy footwear. The car park is huge, the frontage is long, and the aisles seem endless. You could probably fit St Paul's cathedral in several times over. That said, it's got everything you could possibly need in the grocery line; the services include photo-processing, pharmacy, opticians, newsagents, car wash, jet wash, petrol station, and there's a recycling point and a cash-point. Ranges include clothes, their Asain, Afro-Caribbean, Polish and 'World foods' (presumably everything else?), with fresh meat and fish counters, a delicatessen and cooked chicken counter. The store is fully accessible, with customer toilets and baby-changing facilities. The car park has what look to be wind turbines whirling around - I wonder if they generate electricity?

It has a massive car park and a petrol station, and is just opposite a retail park with B&Q, TK Maxx, Next, ToysRUs and McDonalds, KFC, Frankie & Benny's and a large family pub. Also just across the road from Scunthorpe United Football Ground, so it does get extremely busy on a weekend, especially match days. Inside, you're faced with a massive store that sells almost everything. They've got loads of food and drinks, homewares, electricals, toys, clothing and garden accessories. There used to be a cafe/restaurant, but it has recently ben replaced with a Costa so not much good if you want food, but fine for a cuppa. There are Direct desks too at the door, so you can collect anything you've ordered online to save on P&P charges. Loads of tills, always loads of staff - a really good place to shop.

Many people are put off by the price, but you get what you pay for, and if you can afford it then it really is worth paying the extra. They price match Tesco on a wide range of items, and they also sell a selection of John Lewis home furnishing items. They do a reserve and collect service which is separate to the Ocado home delivery service - look at their website. This particular branch is nice, clean, spacious and friendly. It's well located just off the northern side of the outer ring road, just off the A46. It has a petrol station but it can be dearer than others in the area, and there is rarely any problem parking. If you haven't been, give it a try - especially in the evening when there are always fabulous bargains to be had on short-dated items.

If, like me, you ever struggle to choose between about three sandwhich options then you may be liable to be frozen in cant-decide panic at the endless choices presented to you by Abu Bakar! Even the halva section appears to be never ending! They sell a wide selection of vegetables, a broad variety of juices, endless rows of pulses, spices, herbs, cakes, bread, jars of pickled items, huge sacks of rice and flour - possibly aimed at businesses but may be handy if you live in a big house, loads of condiments (including some very mysterious and tantalising items such as a pot of chololate and cherry something...spread?...whose ingredients list was in Polish only). Homeware-wise they have pots, pans, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is also a halal meat counter.
