I foolishly purchased a membership through a Groupon ad that promised additional coupons that paid for the membership. Was conned into upgrading to Executive membership when I went to redeem the membership I'd already paid for. Was promised certain coupons "that would pay for the upgrade." What was not mentioned was a whole string of conditions on using the coupons, which resulted in paying more for what I purchased using the coupons than I would have paid for the same items at an ordinary grocery store without any discount. I made my first shopping trip in person today, and it will be my last. I am horrified that management apparently trains its staff to abuse seniors with disabilities!! Gas was slightly cheaper than at other places, but only by 3 cents, and there was a 20 minute wait at the pump and then the customer behind me screaming abuse because the process of getting out a walked and positioning it so I can sit on it while filling my gas tank apparently took too long. The inside of the store is downright dangerous, I must have sustained at least 2 dozen bruises. If it was possible to get a refund on my membership, I would do so. As it is, I will never enter the store again, and will cancel my credit card and get a new one so Costco cannot automatically renew my membership when this one expires. read more

A really good Costco, and one that features uniquely Canadian products. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. There's never a problem finding parking, the only frustration is the gas pumps seem to be on a plot of land that's too small. They need about double the pumps they have now. Inside the store is clean, and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. They have a pharmacy that unfortunately I've seen some long waits. They also have a small optical center and snack bar. read more

I went and I purchased two Roomba vacuums from Costco and returned them both because the first one did not work and the second one was an open boxed item even though they said it was new and it also did not work. When it comes to purchasing electron items from Costco I would not trust those products because of how easy it is for customers to return Costco products. I once saw this female return a huge 20 pound piece of meat she said she just wants a smaller one instead. What a waste she could have just cut a piece of that large piece of meat and saved the rest for later. She wasted a large portion of food which is very rude and inconsiderate. I called to see if I'd need a membership to shop and they said I could get a day membership free. I arrived and found out they don't do that anymore as a promotion. I asked "Then why was I told over the phone by someone apparently not very smart that you do?" She said "All I'm thinking is..." and when she finished I said "Well, I can believe that's all you're thinking" and I left. The sales people's performance is not worth what they're being paid and the customers are ignorant of basic decency too, judging by how hard it is to get past the never ending stream of people leaving the place with carts. Absolutely love Costco! So many great things about Costco that you come to rely on from here. In Windsor, there is only one location, which can make it a bit more chaotic whether you're inside the store or just trying to find a parking lot, but all in all I usually enjoy my experience and there are many reasons I will keep coming back. So this is the only Costco location in Windsor for over 350,000+ residents in the Windsor and surrounding areas who have Costco memberships and it is always busy, always. I find the best times is to go is right when they open in the morning. Because they're so busy, the parking lot can get ridiculous. Always make sure you're watching where you're walking in that parking lot, sometimes cars don't watch where they're going and can be in a rush to find a parking spot. Take your time with that, please, for the sake of everyone else. Inside the store can be just as busy, but the employees who work there have always been really helpful with finding things, directing me to find the product I'm looking for, keeping the store pretty clean, and at the register. Being familiar with the layout, I know where I want to go to find what I'm looking for. Love Costco's Kirkland brand products. They're just as good quality as the named brand products you can find, but a lot more affordable. One of my favourite things about Costco is their free samples of food they have when you're walking around. They also carry fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as prepared foods such as pies, cakes, chicken pot pies, salads, etc. I always find what I'm looking for. Costco always have a great selection of clothing, I can always pick up a a pair of jeans, a nice top or a sweater. I will always be coming back to Costco. If they had a bit more organization of the checkouts and the parking lot, I would have given it another star. This one star is for tire center. "I am just being honest with you" .. I happened to be in Windsor, ON near to the Costco when my new tire gave up on me. I wish I knew this was going to happen so that I could make an appointment. I had no appointment to fix my flat tire. They were hesitant to take me for the day because they said they were busy. Since I had bought my tires from Costco, and tire repair was covered, why would I go to another store, right? They took my key at 3pm then called me at 7pm saying they have no time to fix it. Asked me to come some other day. I know tire repair does not generate much revenue, especially when your service is under warranty, basically you are providing a free service. Why would you take such smaller jobs when you have people lining up for bigger bucks! I was in the line for over 30 mins. Why would you not put up a sign saying you are not taking walk-ins with tire repair issues? This way you would have definitely saved my time, frustration, and got me home safely. My husband and I thought we'd get a kick out of Canadian Costco, and boy, did we ever. Great deals can be found all over the place, and this place has the bonus of stocking all of those fun Canadian goods we don't have in the US. After we finished shopping, we grabbed a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and an order of Poutine -- yes! they have it here! -- from the food court. Both were delicious. The sandwich ($5.99 CAN) had a generous portion of what tasted like corned beef on a large multigrain roll and was accompanied by a garlicky pickle. I recommend grabbing some sauerkraut for the side. The Poutine ($4.29) was as HUGE as you'd expect Costco Poutine to be. As in the US, the food court accepts only cash. There's an ATM nearby -- don't fret. One downside to this Costco when we visited was that it was an absolute madhouse. Parking lot was totally full and we circled for a good portion of time. Checkout lines rivaled those at Disney World. Many of the other shoppers and some of the people running the sample stations were downright cranky. I wonder what it would be like on a weekday? read more

The warehouse experience thrives at Costco in Windsor, and the stock is noticeably different from the Costcos over the river in the Detroit metro region. I love coming in here for the variety of Canadian snacks I grew up with, an expanded freezer section, and seeing what isn't carried in the US. The candy brands alone are worth it, since so many of the foods in the US are made with aspartame or other fake sweeteners or simply get overloaded with sugar. Many Canadian variations are not, which I support fully. Buy here, let the formulas continue to be made! I've come up with some real savings, like a $19 bluetooth in-ear piece for my car (which refused to sync with my PoS smartphone at the time, but worked great with newer phones) and much cheaper clothing or household supplies. Linens here are a great deal. Costco is one of those places I recommend taking a friend to if you live on your own or as a couple because the temptation to purchase 6 kilos of oranges or an enormous bag of salad mix may be your demise. I don't advocate food waste, and someone without a membership or another relative/friend can split the cost with you. Talk about some pretty happy campers all the way around. The liquor department is also worth the stop, being cheaper than anywhere but a Costco in Detroit. The discount prices are great compared to what I've seen on store shelves. The food court is not to be missed. It has a Montreal smoked beef sandwich, proof of Canadiana and culture. If they had poutine and some kind of maple syrup dessert instead of the typical churro or nut-studded hand-dipped ice cream bar, I think the expats would make pilgrimages on a regular basis. As it is, don't discount Costco for having one of the cheapest lunches or "fast food" meals anywhere. Their Polish sausage was a staple for friends of mine or the pick-me-up after-shopping meal. For $3, you get a huge sausage on a bun with drink, and all the condiments you want. Including ketchup though my Chicago purist friends are rolling over in horror. Well, too bad. That's how I like it. Try to avoid going on payday or Saturday mornings, also known as the Time of Great Chaos. Payday means you might walk out with $200 worth of stuff when you came to buy milk, as their 4Ls are way cheaper than the average grocery store. Note: Debit card, cash, AMEX Costco card only. American note: US debit cards are treated as credit cards at Canadian debit points of sale. There is an ATM beside the food court. But save yourself the manic trip if it's out of order and hit a bank /before/ you come in for more favourable rates. read more

Even tho this is a great Costco, I'm painfully giving it 2 stars for the experience of fighting all of Windsor to get through it and the long lineups. Either another Costco or a Sam's club needs to open in Windsor because this location gets PACKED, you have people going against the flow (you know how it is, there is a 'natural' flow to a costco stores). Also you are just climbing over other people to get anywhere. Weekends are NOT the place to swing by, unless you want to get frustrated and wait in long lines. Other than that, it is a great Costco, the same quality and warranty you can expect from any other store. read more

WOW...I thought the Costcos in Toronto (burbs) were crowded...this location must be one of the top revenue generating stores in their chain. It is ALWAYS busy, parking is a nightmare...be prepared to allot quite a bit of time to finding a parking spot. Interesting that it carries different items than Toronto locations. I used to love the Tunnel BBQ. sauces but they no longer carry it. Gap in price at the gas bar compared to gas stations is not as great as up my way. Very busy store. read more

We like to stop into the Costco food court after shopping here. Then tastiest morsels on their menu are the Montreal style smoked meat sandwich, lean cut on a rye bun. Add to that a serving of poutine, enough for two to share and you've got typical Québécois deli fare. It's well done, which is amazing given the fact that the quantity of servings are so large. I recommend all to give these dishes a try, they are wonderful! The poutine is complete with gravy and cheese curds in a huge dish. the sandwich is piled high with a dill pickle and mustard on the side. read more

I am very happy for the reviewer (Bobby Y) who gave this Costco 4 stars but in the 7 years I have been shopping here I can honestly say I have seldom experienced a worse Costco. It is ALWAYS busy from half an hour before open. Forget about customer service - staff are uniformly rude and act as if they are doing you a huge favour just to answer your question (if you can ever find one). The check out lines are atrocious. Yes, I really love some of the products and the prices are very good on many of the products (you have to be pretty careful though as some prices are less at your local grocery store when on sale). I have gotten to the point where I dread going there just because of the lines and I absolutely will not go on weekends or Fridays before long weekends - a recipe for frustration and worse!!! My biggest pet peeve; three or four checkouts open with line ups back to the end of the store! COme on Costco you can do a lot better!!! read more

This review is slanted to Americans who haven't been to Costco Canada. If you have a Costco Card you can shop here as well. They really only take cash and Amex (i.e. US debit cards do not work at the checkout, only at the ATM). With the weakened American dollar, the only things I usually buy are gum and candy (they have lots of brands not available in the US, and the different tasting Kit Kat) as well as the Nizoral Dandruff shampoo at full 2% strength rather than America's 1%. Also, the snack bar has a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich that is good. The only other place in Metro Detroit you can get one is Zingermans in Ann Arbor for triple the price (slightly better bread at Zingermans, lol)...... read more

I have come to the conclusion that Costco Windsor is NOT a SENIOR friendly place to shop, especially if you have a disability. The Windsor store is an obstacle course of people. Trying to navigate safely around people while still maintaining a safe distance from other shoppers is virtually impossible. To make matters worse, I was verbally berated in the parking lot by another shopper about how slow I was while loading my groceries in my vehicle. All because he wanted my parking spot. I am a SENIOR and I have a handicap parking permit for a reason. If I am to slow for "You", park elsewhere. I don't need to listen to your "MORONIC" comments about how slow I am. I actually prefer it when I shop the "Senior Hour" from 8 to 9 A.M. even though I hate getting up at 7A.M. to do it. At least I can shop with other seniors who have more patience and empathy for seniors with disabilities. I just wish that Costco would extend the hour to two hours 8-10 a.m. instead of just 1 hour. Now that Costco has resumed regular shopping with NO crowd LIMITS the store has become a "ZOO" AGAIN and is NOW SENIOR UNFRIENDLY during normal hours. I think it might be time to rethink my EXECUTIVE membership and maybe shop at friendlier grocery stores. Purchased a retro looking fridge from Costco online. Caloric brand, TOTAL waste of money. They took 2 months for them to deliver the wrong colour, finally got the red one and is making noises like creeking and screeching , they will not fix it. I've tried hot dogs, pizza and poutine. They have some of the worst poutine you can get. So forget poutine. Somehow, I think the Canadian Costcos have Inferior pizza compare to their U.S. counter parts. I will skip that also. The real gems are the hot dogs. I have been a member of Costco since their first week in Windsor. The store is good, however the extremely poor service provided by their tire centre is sub-par and questionable at best. I have had improperly installed tires (balance issues and improper inflation), extended wait times and extremely poor service. I only use this location when it is absolutely necessary. Today was a perfect example of their service. Upon arrival I was told the wait was 2hrs while the next person in line was quoted 3-4hrs?? They turned away countless people. This is a constant tactic that I have seen time and time again. To add injury to insult, it took over 45 min for the vehicle to be released after the work was completed. If at all possible, avoid this location's tire centre. read more
