I am not a neophyte to the world of 'big box' stores. I have been a Sam's Club member for the last 30 years. We have recently joined Costco. We have the regular $55 membership for the two of us. We did not fall for the, "Oh, you can get your money back next year if you buy the Executive membership...blah, blah, blah." Take a a tip from me, be very wary of such prepaid expenses in your life because they rarely payoff. That being said, Costco is a complimentary store to Sam's Club in many ways. More goods are geared towards individuals at this store while Sam's is definitely looking for corporate and small business patrons. On a Costco vs. Sam's battle, I'd say Sam's wins if you own a food related business on store hours, baked goods, electronics, produce and most goods in both variety and volume. In fact, there are a lot more snack and candy options at Sam's. Just saying. Not until I entered Costco did I realize how much demand there must be for Quinoa and Kale products! Who knew!? The store was clean and organized. I do not regret obtaining a membership because I use my American Express mostly, anyway. However, we will still go to Sam's, too. read more

This Costco is not support animal friendly. I attempted to purchase a membership and was not allowed in due to having my support dog even though I had a Federal Service Animal card that I was able to show the Manager. He did not take more than 5 seconds to speak to me just said No and I had to leave. For this very reason I am going back to Sams Club where I'm treated like a valued customer without being harassed at the door read more

I really dig Costco. The people working there are generally pretty nice, they always have new things to check out, and for the most part this store is well-organized. I've asked for opinions on certain products from employees and they've given me honest feedback and suggestions (like the madeleines over by the bakery are super soft and habit-forming). On occasion they're a little understaffed, but frankly I think that's more of customers not always being prepared making the check out process take longer. There are really only two big downsides here - 1) the parking lot is a hot mess and whoever designed it needs to be fired and 2) a big chunk of the people shopping here are oblivious, rude, or both. The moment free samples are ready there's a mad rush to get some; God forbid they "park" their cart somewhere not in the middle of the aisle and then go check things out. I've also seen customers ransack the clothing area, turning entire tables of merchandise upside down, unfolding shirts and leaving crap everywhere. read more

Very rude employees, annoyingly checking membership cards 100 times in store. Take your business to Sam's club. :(

I'm about done with this Costco location. Unfortunately it's the closest one to St Pete Beach, but I'm at the point where it may be worth it to just go to Brandon or Sarasota. One of the reasons I love Costco as a company is their return policy - you can return anything at any time for any reason with the exception of electronics. It seems every time I try to return something here there's either an attitude or a grand inquisition as to why I'm making the return. They can never seem to find the items I purchased online even though I tell them exactly when I bought it. Most recently I returned an emergency jump starter/tire air filler kit that I purchased in 2014 and never had to use until now - and it didn't work. I was told they "may not" be able to take it back since I purchased it so long ago. I get it that I bought it a long time ago and that there are people who abuse this return policy, but it's an emergency item that isn't designed to be used often and that's not what their return policy says. When I came in April to cash in my Costco Visa Rewards, I went to the register upon checkout as I have done for the last 2 years. When I presented the certificate, the cashier scanned it and then didn't have enough cash in the drawer to give me my reward and then acted like it was my fault for not knowing this. 30 minutes later, I left with a hand written check for $1200 that I still had to take to the bank to cash. Some of the employees there are great, but sadly most of the ones I've encountered don't match up to the typical Costco experience. read more

I always love shopping here for groceries. The quality is very good and the employees are friendly. The quality compared to the main competitor Sam's Club is like night and day compared to Costco. For the quality of merchandise, level of service, and quality of people who shop here the prices are very good. read more

I can't even count the ways I love Costco. But here are a few highlights: - Cheapest Gas around - Great seasonal items that rotate all the time - Their house brand "Kirkland" is cheaper, but always better than the national brand - The food court has $1.50 hot dog & everything there is good - If you are an executive member (which costs more) you get 2% back on everything you buy. And, they will refund the difference of the executive membership if you don't get your money back - Free samples on the weekends - Their prices are always cheaper than Amazon - even if you are saving 20% with subscribe and save - Their website costco.com is good as well To even things out here are some Cons: - It's gets super busy on weekend afternoons - The checkout lines can become a madhouse if the store is busy read more

Costco good for me I likey the water it's good for me .. dog bacon treats for dogs tasted pretty good.

Love Costco! I have not had any other mass marchandise membership other than Costco, so I cannot get comparison. However I think the quality of their products is great! Please try their Shrimp salad and blue crab dip. We also love the Angie's Kettle Popcorns. These popcorns are so good and addictive. My husband and I finish the Costco size bag in one day watching movies. This is my date place with my husband once a month, where we spend time getting samples lol Please don't judge! lol It is fun :) read more

Rudest Costco I've ever been to. The employees are the biggest assholes and never want to help anyone and never even acknowledge you. I will not renew my membership read more

Today (April 11 2023) afternoon I was in Costco. I bought stuff worth $1000 I ask for help to load this purchase to my truck but nobody seems to be willing to help me. I do have some difficult body conditions . Despite this I had no choice only to load the heavy boxes all by myself. I go to store manager. Short lady start to tell me all kind of BS. She did not take any responsibility and start to blame on her people. NEVER before I meet in Costco such week Manager and Staff. I think they have to do something about it. read more

Only thing I can complain about is its location. Takes me awhile to get here and it is the only one that is close to me. It is always organized - tons of selections - great savings and quality. Every time I go I am impressed with how clean it is. The samples are fantastic too! read more

Went to costcos and they say no more than 2 people on a membership to enter to shop.... so I'm suppose to leave my kids in the cars while I shop this is ludicrous I will never shop here again read more

Costco - Membership Information - Wholesale Stores Near Me - Clearwater, Florida

Nice place to shop. Very organized, well stocking, and helpful employees. From produce to meat department, all are fresh and good quality. Also, seafood here is very fresh too. Don't forget to visit their bakery area. They even have croissants with strawberry filling here. Yayyy. So many selections to choose from. As always, Costco is always crowded, especially in the weekend. Service was friendly and check out was fast and easy. Would definitely shop here again. read more

LOVE Costco at Clearwater. Parking always available and with the Virus the employees are "doing it right". Good shopping experience.

I usually shop the Costco in Brandon which is always packed with lines wrapping around store. This Costco was amazing! Nice, helpful employees, lines only 2 deep!! I will be driving the extra distance to visit this store from now on. Parking is easier too. Brandon store was always packed any time of day. Might have been lucky with when I visited but great job Clearwater store! read more

Overpriced food, but the electronics are good deals, the gas station is poorly situated and it's just not worth my time to fight the crowds. The eye glasses a complete junk too. I will not renew my membership, I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I freaking love this place. I've been to Costcos all over the country and this one is by far the cleanest with best parking and friendly associates all around. Obviously the products are pretty much the same everywhere, but it's nice to not have to fight for 20 minutes to get a spot and then argue with people for 20 minutes afterwards trying to pull out of the parking garage. This one has ample parking with a relatively good design and the employees almost always seem to enjoy being there, which is a really good thing to see. Not nearly enough free samples though! read more

I love Costco! If you ever need to buy a TV buy it from Costco. They offer a 5 year warranty on the low! Costco has allot of great products and they Kirkland brand is legit! They have some amazing wines and their Kirkland brand vodka is as good as Grey goose. With a great return policy and great service. Who wouldn't love shopping here. They also offer allot of organic grass fed meats at a great price as well as lots of healthy food choices for kids snacks. read more

We just joined Costco. My husband and I were long time members of BJs and always shared a card. Today is Black Friday and we went together to buy a big tv. Once we got it to the truck, we realized that we needed a mount. I ran in to buy it, Easy right? No... thank you Angela we will never step foot in Costco again. The card wouldn't work. I was in self checkout. I was worried because my husband was out front loading... Angela came over and took the card. I explained what was happening even showed the receipt. She held the card back like I was a teen trying to use a fake ID... a bit over the top.... I did get frustrated and angry at this point as she lectured me about the card policy ...it was very unnecessary.... the manager came over and "let it go this time" Never again will we step foot in this place...it's not nice to make people feel like a criminal... and Angela, sometimes people will get frustrated... I was ... I'm sorry if I was short with you... but did you really need to get other customers involved and continue to talk about the situation to the point you had to have a hug from the other customer? It should have been dropped but you needed to continue be the wronged party far after the very brief interaction we had. I don't think being a victim is a good look for an employee .... Then the manager walked away and you came back to me to talk about the card... abusive because I ran in to purchase a mount for our 1600 dollar tv... read more

Just want to take a minute to say that, once again, I had GREAT customer service at our local Costco. This place is spotless. It is always well-stocked. The staff was heroic during the beginning of Covid, and now, they are just doing their normal outstanding work! read more

Came to this Costco to get a membership card and all of the staff at the customer service desk were either too busy chatting with each other to acknowledge me waiting for help or didn't care that I was there. Then the older lady with the crazy brows looked at me just waited for me to come up to her, without even saying a word, such as "how can I help you?" She didn't even let me finish my sentence and held up her hand to me. Lol this place sucks. read more

Huge parking lot. They do offer a gas station here. Prices are posted outside the gas station and the store itself. Sometimes those prices are cheaper and other times they aren't. Always greeted at the door we grab a cart and head in. They have the usual electronic department near the front doors. An optical shop and an audio (hearing) shop. They sell glasses and hearing aids if needed. However, you are often better of taking your script (glasses) to the local VisionPlus because they sell frames and lenses for as little as $20 total. That is where I purchased mine. Of course, I wasn't super picky and my script is a small one. Very uncomplicated. No bi/tri focals or anything like that. The alcohol is outside the store. The wine/beer is inside. The bakery is always making something fresh. The meat department is large and has some great buys on certain meats and seafood. Huge selection of cheese. Especially right now during 'the season' as they have a lot of extra ones in that they don't normally have. The last time we were there it was 'sample day' and we tried almost everything. It is a good way to know whether it is as good as it looks/smells. Usually friendly sample givers but there are those that like to 'control' everything. One of them refused to put out samples because he said they weren't ready. But yet they were sitting there on the sample tray ready to go. Ugh. They also offer a pharmacy. They helped me with a question about my cat needing insulin. I had called a few months back and they told me they do not offer insulin for him but when I stopped by the lady said they absolutely offer it and they even had one in stock. She gave me a price quote which helped me plan future purchases. Check out is always backed up (been there many times and always lines) but they get you through quickly. They saw that we purchase 'a lot' of items from them so they offered to upgrade our membership at a prorated fee. So we took advantage of that. We love this store. However it is usually very busy. It was especially busy the weekend of December 1st. Between the snowbirds stocking up their winter places and Christmas shoppers plus the usual shoppers it was crazy. One note - we ordered a sound bar online and had it delivered to our home. In less than 2 weeks it was on sale ($40 off) and we talked to the return department. They said we would need to box it up and return it to get the money returned. They couldn't just credit our account the $40. Grrr. Why? Now you will have an open box with a shopping label on it that you can't do anything with unless you send it back to shipment and advertise it as an open box item. So, we bought another one that was on sale and we returned the original one to the store. What a mess. But I am guessing they do that because they know some people won't want to mess with it. Staff have always been friendly. Get you through quickly and they are helpful. We do like the bargains you can find. read more

This is my go-to place for toilet paper LOL I also buy Stevia for my coffee and whey protein to have after lifting weights from this Costco location. Their whey protein is affordable. Some of the meat and chicken prices are on the high side to me so I stop off at Aldi on my way home to buy meat and chicken. When I stop by at this Costco I usually fill up my gas tank before I leave the area. So far I've never had a problem or complaint. I will return again. read more

We had a rude cashier named Anna D. I usually love Costco. I also am in customer service and I don't understand being so nasty to someone. Wouldn't let my boyfriend pay we live together same address and everything. Because the membership wouldn't match up. But if I just used his card nothing would of been said. Was very embarrassing the way she scolded us we are almost 40 and she was treating us like children. read more

What can you say bad about Costco? They are a bit more expensive than Sam's but they have so much more variety. They also are known for treating their employees well. It's a great place to grab ready to eat selections for a day at the lake or a picnic. Their chicken pot pies are to die for. If you live west of the Mississippi, the gas prices alone are worth the cost of the membership! read more

My wife and I were very impressed with this CostCo. We are from out of state and popped in to get a box of ZipFizz. What's not to love about savings? Healthy foods. Quality products. Clean and organized aisles makes it a pleasure to shop here. Do I wish they accepted credit cards? yes I do. An immaculate, clean, lovely Costco with a gas station. The tables of clothes were so neatly piled, I felt bad picking something up to look at it. Shelves were fully stocked, and BF found some great golf shirts (Ping and Calloway) for very cheap. Plus the best part, it was practically empty in there! We hardly stood in line at all - I couldnt believe it, thats never happened before! I love you Costco, why cant all of your locations be as awesome as this one? read more

I want to start off saying I work in this industry and right now with COVID it's hell .... But I have also been in other Costco locations in other states . The service at this one is just trash and it's only later in the day . I've came into this store on a few occasions during the same time and the customer service or lack there of is ALWAYS the same ... beyond rude employees every one of them are mask police witch is there job , but if ask where something is located as a "member" tell me where it's at ... I have been a Costco member at this location for the last 7 years and I have remained loyal to this location for several reasons. 1. The collection of all the goods in the Costco are relevant to everyday life in Florida. I even found "Moon Cake" made during the Chinese Fall Harvest Festival. 2. The quality and cost ratio is high, especially for the Costco brand - the Kirkland signature. I even like its wine collection. 3. All the medication I prescribed at its pharmacy are relatively lower cost compare to the same drug I get from Walgreens. Wait time is around 20 to 30 minutes. 4. On-site eye doctor and examination is conveniently located near the entrance. Again, price is reasonable and minor repairs are free of charge. 5. Service is always friendly, efficient and consistent, even during their busiest hours. 6. There is a 2% off on every item purchased by executive members (annual fee 110). Overall, Costco at this location is good choice for many north Pinellas county residents and snow flakes. read more

Store does not answer their phone and the general manafer is always MIA. I love this warehouse. Every employee goes out of their way to help customers. We all know that Costco tends to move products around a lot, making them difficult to find at times. However, there are always plenty of staff around to guide you to the right location. They constantly monitor the aisles to ensure a safe, clean environment. They offer a great variety of products and have plenty of food demonstrations so you can try before you buy. I love going! read more

Best Costco in Tampa Bay. Not there are many of them to begin with. But this one has it together. I always get good service and find unique products that you can't find anywhere else. The food court at Costco is an outstanding value especially their infamous Pizza, call me crazy but I like their better a lot more than many pizza joints in Tampa Bay and at $10 it's hard to beat. The wine selection is very good, wish they had more of a variety though. They have an excellent cheese selection, hard to make a choice when shopping because they are so good. Love the consistency of Costco, love the free samples. Always a great experience. read more

One of my favorite stores to visit and I always spend too much money here!! Tons of healthy choices and unique finds. Fresh flowers, awesome craft beer selection and the happiest staff on the planet. I never regret a trip to costco. The prices are reasonable and there are tons on vegan/vegetarian options in the store. I like meat, but I still love discovering some healthful options! I really love this store and if you enjoy making easy and healthy meals, this is the place for you. Plan to spend a ton of money because you will keep picking things up saying "oh this sounds good!". Rivals all grocery stores in the area. Word to the wise: don't go in the afternoon or during rush hour. The parking lot is huge but still you'll have some issues finding a spot. Best times are near closing or random times during the week. read more

I have a Sams Club membership as well and if I had to compare, I would say Costco is the more upscale one. In their food court, their pizza and polish hot dogs are tastier, their jewelery kiosk is nicer, their bagged salad mixes are better than Sam's. I just wish it was closer to where I live. I also don't think this place is as discounted as it seems. Sometimes a coupon and a good sale at your regular grocer can be a much better deal. read more
