Great food and excellent service in a clean environment. Even with less than an hour prior to close! Jen and Van are the best!

I would suggest to stick with cafe rio (similar but better IMO) or chipotle. Pretty disappointed in this place. I agree with the other persons post, if you want a mediocre meal with minimal protein and pricey, then come here. The first two times were a great experience. This time however, staff was rude, skimped on the taco servings. (Wouldn't have been so bad if the staff wasn't playing favorites in the line) Not a huge deal, but optics are bad. Also, please just give me a fair amount of food for the overpriced menu.

Yet again ANOTHER over charging food chain:/ Definitely not for $15 bucks

First time eating here. Yet again ANOTHER over charging restaurant. Don't understand how or why these restaurants think it's okay to charge what they do. The steak burrito was just okay, definitely not for $15 bucks:/:/:/ All I wanted was a simple burrito. I didn't want all the sides they were offering, so figured it would have been cheaper. Guess not:/:/:/

If you like rice and beans with very little meat, then this is your place. Surely a burrito for $11 would have more meat, but maybe inflation is the reason for small portions and pico de gallo is on rations.

Food was great, tables were clean, disappointed in the drink fountain and ice area it was filthy, told two employees about it and was brushed off without a response even when I went back and purchased bottled beverages instead of using the fountain dispenser,,, disappointing but it's kinda gross.

Good food and service, the reason for the 3stars is price. If you have kids it is a bit pricey for what normally a 9 to teen would order. Quesadilla cheese only 4 average slice $7.00.. Baja Bowl steak "good taste " average size, leaning to small on steak portion, $10.00. Want extras, Small size Guacamole $1.00. In the Meridian and the surrounding area you can find better value.

It's one of those places where you don't feel like you're sacrificing quality just because it's discounted. The happy hour menu itself is a win too. Great variety, everything came out quick, and the portions were better than most places offering "deals." You can actually make a full meal out of it without spending much. Service was on point, attentive without hovering, and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and stay a while. If you're looking for a spot with real value during happy hour, this is it. Definitely coming back.

Yes! Finally a Mexican place in the Boise area that I can rate 5-stars. This is no "Sysco…read moreMexican" place where sitting down means you get a basket of chips and saucers of jar salsa and pinto-lard puree. You can taste the Oaxacan and Tex-Mex origins of the food. I prefer Oaxacan over Tex-Mex. Flavorful, with depth, and leaves you wanting to come back. Service was decent as it was busy. The ambiance is more of a modern restaurant than a tacky Tijuana vomit vest. The dia de los meurtos vibe is pretty cool. Ceviche was fresh and flavorful. While I like a little white fish in it as well, their ceviche was the best I've had since spending time down in the Yucatan. The freshly prepared tortilla chips are crisp and built to scoop. Their regular salsa is very good as well. Personal taste, but I would like a little more roast on the peppers for a deeper flavor. You know, like you get when peppers are directly placed on hot coals to roast. The birria flautas were crispy and the meat was spot on in terms of flavor and perfectly cooked pork. I had a couple bites of the surf and turf tacos - bam! So good. Their home cooked churros with the churro fried ice cream were absolutely perfect. The ice cream coating, I would give 4-stars as the exterior was a bit chewy in texture for me. It was almost as if there oats used to hold it together. Yeah, we'll be back.

My wife ordered a chile rellano and an enchilda. I ordered camarones diabla, one of my favorite dishes. My wife had a coke and I had water. My wife really enjoyed her food, and there was plenty of it, as she brought some home. In my dish, the shrimp were nice and plump, which was great, and the sauce was flavorful, though not as good as at another place I frequent. There were small pieces of mushroom, but there were also a lot of strips of onion, which I'm not a fan of. Just my personal taste. They charge $3.50 for a soda, and for that price, my wife asked for a refill to go. She thought our server was perhaps a bit displeased that she made this request, but we feel that it is reasonable, given the price tag for soda that comes from a machine. All in all, we enjoyed our experience at La Cabanita, and will return, we happen to be in the area (we live in Star).
