I have visited this Costa Vida location several times since moving to Meridian. I've been to quite a few Costa Vida's and this location is my favorite. The store is always well kept & clean. The food is always fresh & delicious. They even have an employee walking the dining room checking in on customers too ask how the food is & if we need anything. He even asks to take your tray and empty your garbage from the table. It's a really nice touch. The reason that I only gave 4 stars is the size of The portions aren't consistent. One day you will get the correct amount of meat & the next day you get hardly any meat. Another thing that bugs me is that chips and salsa do not come with your entree. I have a family that consists of 3 teenagers & 3 adults. When we eat there it costs a minimum of $70 to feed the herd. It is a bit of a slap in the face to need to spend another $8 or so on chips. I hope this policy changes soon. read more

I would suggest to stick with cafe rio (similar but better IMO) or chipotle. Pretty disappointed in this place. I agree with the other persons post, if you want a mediocre meal with minimal protein and pricey, then come here. The first two times were a great experience. This time however, staff was rude, skimped on the taco servings. (Wouldn't have been so bad if the staff wasn't playing favorites in the line) Not a huge deal, but optics are bad. I was looking for a sit down restaurant & found this... looked like it was based on a similar model to Chipotle's. So figured I'd try it! Boy was that a mistake! I got their Sweet Pork enchiladas, which was the daily special. While it was nicely done the "sweet pork" was too sweet & not much was in my meal. The staff also doesn't listen to requests or answer questions about options. My husband got the steak burrito & asked for the spicy red sauce and it was bland...even the hot sauce didn't make it more exciting! The chips were nothing to write home about. Everything is served in aluminum trays & plastic utensils, that break too easily. On top of that, it was more expensive than my favorite sit down Mexican restaurant. Disappointed in the management here. We are big Chipotle and Baja Fresh fans, and those restaurants are pretty close. We decided to give Costa Vida a try. The first sign you see on their window advertises their app and if you download it today you get $4 off today. Well, that didn't work. No credit was loaded by default. The girl at the checkout was so nice. And she went in the back to talk to the managers and I could hear her advocating for me for about three minutes. She saw me go to the App Store, and download it, register. She tried her best. But of course, the managers did not feel like it was their responsibility to come and explain to their test, so they sent her back as a messenger. Nothing they can do, she said. Tip for managers: interface with your customers. Well it turned out OK because the employee who was helping me found a way to get about $10 off my order. She shuffled around some coupons and entered some codes. But it was clear that the managers decided that if the app wasn't working right, it was out of their hands. Also, unlike the other two restaurants I mentioned previously, this restaurant does not have vegetarian options that cost less than meat options. If I want a vegetarian entrée, I still have to pay for the meat. Lastly, they go so fast when you are ordering that before I could say I didn't want cheese, they already put cheese on my burrito. My daughters shared a Large Sweet Pork Salad and I had their daily special, which is Sweet Pork Enchilada w/drink! Everything was good! Love their refillable Horchata! Sure, their lettuce was not in the perfect condition since we spotted a few brown pieces in our food, but it happens, especially during this time of the year. Been here a lot come with my daughter quite a bit, used to eat here for lunch at least once a week. Food is good everyone loves the sweet pork salad I always get the sweet pork burrito smothered. One thing I don't like is that they rush you through the line like cattle and are very quick and inconsiderate on their helpings. At the end of the line they ask you if you want any extra, don't forget to ask what comes on it or they'll skip giving you the sour cream. I've been to Costa Vida twice now, in the hope that my first experience would be better the second time. Nope. There are worse Mexican "Style" food) chains in the valley (Taco Bell comes instantly to mind), but the insipid food at Costa Vida isn't worth the calories. What is with the sweet red chile pork? For fast and convent food this place is a good one. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos and they were great. The shrimp were plentiful and cooked for my order with the golden toasted tortilla. The flavor was sweet and yummy. With a side of black beans and lime rice a perfect trio. Don't forget some sour cream for the black beans to make them just that much better. Guac for the shrimp tacos and leave off the mess of lettuce. A little drippy messy but the sauce and taco is soooo worth it. Licking the juice off your fingers good! Used to love this place growing up. Went back after a few years and I'll drive the extra distance to Cafe Rio from now on. This has happened 2 times in the row, the first time I gave them the benefit of the doubt but after the second time I'll never go back. Ok. I don't know why the big craze over this bland overpriced food. The chicken is dry, the pork and shredded beef is greasy. Their sauces taste like they came out of cans. Long wait to order. Several employees standing around while our food needed to be finished while sitting there getting cold. VERY EXPENSIVE. I have gotten better "Mexican" food at Chipotle and Qdoba and that's not a compliment either. I ordered nachos with shredded beef. What I got was a huge pile of chips melted in one lump from the cheese. I literally had to cut them up with a fork and knife. TBH, Chili's would have been cheaper and better food.
