I take my older car here because it's not a big deal. I always use a coupon from their website…read more(usually $10) for my oil change. They are pretty fast. Now, are they efficient? They are, mostly. They always try and sell you on something. I worked at an oil change before. I know they "have" to and make commission. But please save your money and buy your air filter from Amazon. All you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver and 5 minutes of your time. You will save yourself 10-20 dollars instead of letting them sell you one. And I have to be honest, they usually try and sell me things before they are needed. Since my one car is older, I'm going to buy it when it's needed. The employees are nice and fast. Maybe a little rugged for some but that's with any car shop. Come here if you want it done fast and for about 40.00 with coupon. (Higher since inflation came up recently.)

I recently moved to Pennsylvania, and I was made aware while updating my driver's license, title,…read moreand registration, that Pennsylvania requires an annual emissions and state inspection for all vehicles. This differs quite a bit from the one-time auto inspection and biennial emissions test that I am used to in Maryland. After spending the better part of Friday, updating my driver's license, title, and registration, I figured I might as well knock out the state inspection and just be finished with this. I called Jiffy Lube and they kindly informed that while they do accept walk-in appointments for the state inspection, the do not accept state inspection appointments after 4pm. I settled on going in first thing Saturday morning. I left my house at 7:45amish so I would arrive a few minutes before opening. I arrived about a minute after they opened and ended up being the fifth car in the line. They told me that there would be a two-hour wait. I ended up waiting in my car for over two hours, and then waited another hour as my car was serviced. The technician completing the inspection was kind enough to let me know that while I had removed the MD tag in the rear of my vehicle, I had forgotten to remove the MD tag in the front of my vehicle. He removed it for me and I passed the auto and emissions inspection. I paid a little over $90 for the auto inspection, emissions test, and stickers. While I was not happy with the long wait times, or the information that this type of inspection needs to be completed annually, I was fairly pleased with the customer service and would very likely return for similar services in the future. I removed a star for the very small waiting room and out of order bathroom.

I have been dealing with Mavis Tire Dillsburg for at least 3 years…read more I always get professhional help from management in choosing tires for my vehicles. Vehicles have always been completed ahead of schedule. Communication has always has been good. Tim H.

Horrifying!!! I have a pretty much brand new car around 15,000 miles on a full size SUV. I…read morefigured a tire company could do an alignment I was WRONG! Multiple issues with the experience. I went in for tire balance - (they did NOT filed my tires according to the "ride suggestion on door), they did MAX PSI per tire. They came to me and said your alignment is out and did the salesman thing. I finally said ok, again figuring they would do correctly, or at worse not aligned exactly, I now know what all damage can be done by not doing an alignment correctly. I had find myself horrified with the fact that 3 of 4 bolts were NOT tight on front axle. The one on my left lower control arm was able to be moved just with your hand! 2 of the 3 other had lots of wrench torch left to be done. It than ruined my cam on lower control arm driving it only couple hundred of miles and 4 days. Thank God I was like this is not right, and stopped to have car lifted and looked at. It could have eventually come apart and I would have wrecked! Took to local GMC dealer my air suspension was not acting right on top of handling, to have checked further and found needed replacement parts. When contacted Mavis in Dillsburg they wanted to see and had more time and miles in going back again. They pushed for me to have them to the work and there was NO way that was happening. I had cam and bolts fixed asap that parts were in and took bill expecting bill payment. Chris was not available at that time, left old parts and inv. from GMC, told them I would be back in 2 or 3 days for refund. When I arrived I now find out that it will not be refunded by store but rather corporate. (The whole time we asked for corp info and Chris kept saying better to work with me, so ok at this point). Now I learn that the bill I had to front for close to $1,000 now had to wait for. I insisted corp info and called them. To my surprise, they was to prioritize until customer calls in. (are you kidding me) It has now been a month and I have yet to receive a call from corp in regards to the matter. It has been 2 weeks since I had to pay bill for cam fixed and still no refund. Now on top of this I had seen when showing me alignment I noticed it said no air ride suspension. I mentioned this has AIR ride. Oh ok, I will check. On photo of completed alignment I noticed now since all this time, they did the alignment with the NO AIR RIDE. Which is extremely had on suspension and through research found the damage or wear this could cause! It still is not handling correctly which I was told by GMC it could have oblonged my holes on my frame. You have to be kidding me!!

Had my car inspected here. They didn't pass it because of "right inner tie rod had some play"…read more My husband, who used to be an inspections tech back in the day in PA, checked it. NO play. He calls them- they said "oh the paper does say right, we meant left." And this was also after we bought the part to change it. Guess what- NO PLAY on the left either. He calls and they said he's doing it wrong. He takes it to them for them to show him where the play was. It's so minute- and definitely not the 1/4 inch it takes to fail an inspection. He takes it to another inspection station- guess what- IT PASSED. And this is after he asked them to look at this particular "issue." They said it was so minute- it's not even a concern at this point and will be fine. This company stole money from us. They should not have failed our vehicle based off of PA laws. Do not go here!!!!!

I was driving back to Upstate New York from seeing the solar eclipse in Asheville, and a horrible…read moregrinding noise started to come out from under the hood of my 2001 Honda Civic in Northern Virginia. I couldn't figure out what it was, and kept driving, until finally, in a small town in Pennsylvania I'd never heard of, the battery light flashed on, and I pulled over into a gas station parking lot to find that the belt running my alternator and A/C compressor had snapped. What a nightmare. I've never had a car break down before, let alone on a long roadtrip, and it's always been one of my worst fears. Yet, as luck would have it, I was just a quarter-mile down the road from HC Automotive, and when I walked in holding my broken alternator belt, half an hour before closing, Jon not only managed to reassure me with a calm explanation of the potential causes, but immediately ordered a replacement belt, and printed out a map for me so I could drive to his shop on the back roads, without having to pay for a tow. When he looked at the engine and discovered that the A/C compressor pulley had seized up--a fix way more expensive and way more time-consuming than just a new belt--he suggested we instead replace it with a shorter belt for an A/C-less Civic, bypassing the A/C compressor, and thus enabling me to continue my drive (albeit sweatily). He spent quite a bit of time on the phone trying to find the belt, but it was the end of the day, and parts for a rare version of a 16-year-old car aren't that easy to find, and so he wouldn't have been able to get one until the next day. So he instead put in a generic belt of the right length, albeit with one fewer rib. Hooray! It worked perfectly, and got me all the way home, turning what I thought was going to be an overnight stay into just a few hours' delay. The cost was $246, of which $38 was for the belt, and $175 for an hour and a half-ish of labor (the last hour of which was after the posted closing hours). Plus, his shop has free coffee, wi-fi, a clean restroom, and a good assortment of golfing magazines :). Thanks, Jon!
