We had a one night stay here and while the hotel itself was nice we had a few issues with our room. The carpets were in some serious need of cleaning and the sofa bed had a broken spring and the footing of the bed was higher than the heading. My husband slept it on it in reverse. When the sofa bed was pulled out you couldn't walk around it. My daughter and I slept in the bed and while I was a bit surprised by the lumpy poorly made bed it was comfy. The bathroom was clean with nice lighting and amenities. I loved that the room came with a balcony overlooking the pool and courtyard area. Parking was in a gated structure. Room key need for entry & exit. I think we paid for parking but gosh I can't remember now. Our stay was a super short one and we didn't get to enjoy the restaurant or bar area. It's close to South Coast Plaza with shopping and restaurants. I would consider a stay here again if there was a need.
Everything was good. We loved the fact that we could walk every morning safely, then a,Starbucks store is right across the street. The only 2 things, which can be easily fixed, were that (a) trash was overflown in the front almost daily over night; and (b) trash on 8th floor was not picked up right outside the elevator. The Executive Housekeeper or GM should have walked the floors more often. For that, I took one star off. The man who checked us in but I forgot his name was very professional.
This is the last and 3rd Marriott property I've stayed at in this area near the Segerstrom! I've stayed at the Avenue of the Arts, the Westin, and now Marriott. If you want to know in terms of distance, closet (literally next door) to the Segerstrom is the Westin. Then Ave of Arts is across the street (across from Moma). Then Marriott is the farthest of the 3, on the other side of the pond. I booked under AAA rate via the Marriott app, got the self parking and check in via app was a breeze. The lady at the front was super nice when we checked in and they gave me an upgraded suite as a Platinum member, which came with the pond view, very nice! The room was spacious and the design of their bathroom and living room and bedroom was interesting but fun! It feels like there are 3 ways to get into the bathroom! Our view was perfect and during the day, if you open the balcony door from the bedroom and listen to the water fountain running outside at the pond, laying in bed and feeling the breeze with your eyes closed, you would think that you were at a beach front resort listening to the ocean waves hitting the shore! The room was super clean and bed was very comfortable! I didnt care too much for their toiletries. I think Westin still has the best scent toiletries. Parking is $39 and they did not give the AAA discount toward the parking like at the Westin. When we stayed at the Westin under AAA discount rate, they also gave us the AAA discount parking fee which brought it down from $39 to $10 or $15 I think. One other nice feature about this Marriott, like other Yelpers mentioned, is they have their M club lounge here. So this was very nice because our room keys were programmed for the M Club also and we had breakfast there. Although it was a very continental breakfast and very simple, but it was still nice. The Westin, even with Platinum did not offer free breakfast. Overall, If I have to rate the 3 hotels around here as a Platinum with Marriott, it would be Marriot, Westin, and if really have to then Ave of Arts. Marriott would give you overall the best perks as Platinum but it was a great stay and I would definitely stay again!
We've stayed at the Costa Mesa Marriott a few times over the years. The location of the hotel is walking distance to the gigantic South Coast Plaza Mall. Staff have been cordial each of our visits. Parking garage is convenient, but not inexpensive. Rooms have been terrific each visit. We've always had a good night's sleep at this hotel. They have the lounge called the M Club for elite members. Compared to other Marriott hotels we've visited, the M Club here is lacking. There has been a lack of snacks and water compared to other Marriott locations. They don't as good a job of keeping it stocked. No big deal, though. Exception is for the breakfast hours. During the breakfast hours, the staff do a good job of keeping the breakfast food hot, fresh, and fully stocked at the M Club. After all our visits here, I'd have to say that the Costa Mesa Marriott is a fine choice to stay if you are traveling in the area.
I love to stay at Marriott properties when I travel for work. I particularly liked this one - as it was located in an interesting and walkable area. It's near the Orange County Museum of Art and the Segerstrom Center campus. It was also a convenient walk to some great restaurants, bars and coffee shops (like Philz!). The room was a decent size, with a bedroom (queen bed) and living room set-up. It's nice to have a separate seating/desking area when traveling for work! I really enjoyed the balcony and sliding door that opened to it. It's rare to have operable windows in hotels anymore! I do wish there had been more common area seating in the lobby. As a regular business traveler, I enjoy having an area other than my room to hang out in. They had the bar and the dining area - and I saw people sitting there who weren't eating - but I would have felt uncomfortable sitting myself there, as it felt like it was an obvious dining area and not an intentionally designed common space. My breakfast service left me a bit disappointed. I did sit down about 30 minutes from breakfast service ending, but I didn't anticipate being ghosted as a way to get me to move along. My food was served, my room-service only ticket set at my table and then I never saw the server again. When I travel for work, I'm not authorized to put meal service on my invoice, so this became an inconvenience for me when I expensed my trip. I did have an unfortunate incident occur with another guest, however the manager Hugo was really responsive and empathetic in his response to the situation. It's uncomfortable for me to give negative feedback, especially when I see such a well kept facility with friendly employees. He shared that he felt that my incident was a perfect training opportunity and he apologized on behalf of the hotel for the situation. I felt heard and would not hesitate staying there on my next business trip.
We don't typically stay at Marriott properties but we decided to stay here due to the price-point for a one-night stay during the time we need. It is close to the shopping mall and all the asian restaurants we love frequenting. Since I booked through Expedia, I had issues linking my stay to the Marriott Bonvoy app. Parking was $39 a night, but at least the parking garage is secure. I did not see an elevator for the parking garage though, so keep that in mind. My husband and I did find the front desk staff who checked us in as unfriendly, tired, and bothered that we were checking in, so that is why I removed one star. I get that we were checking in at 10pm and he probably had a long shift, but we've also checked in late at other hotels (Hilton properties) and never felt this vibe from the staff at those hotels. Nonetheless, we liked the hotel very much. We booked a king suite and found the room clean and spacious. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all-natural and smelled like essential oils. The bed was comfortable and we liked that the common room is separate from the bedroom. The decor is modern and clean, and they have great amenities. They also offer free yoga for hotel guests. Additionally, there is also a nice grassy walking trail right outside the hotel, and the gym had the bare necessities. We didn't get to use the pool, but we had a view of the pool from our room and it looks like it would be fun for families.
I'm usually a big fan of Marriott and have stayed at many of their locations without issues but my recent stay at the Costa Mesa Marriott was not the best. Everything was fine until the last day. While I was on the phone with guest services, the side lamp randomly fell on me, knocking over my water, which spilled all over me and the bed. It was a pretty unpleasant surprise and not the kind of chaos you expect when you're just trying to get everything ready. On top of that, there was a lot of back-and-forth about the pet fee. One staff member told me it was $150 total for both of my pets, which is what I've paid at every other Marriott. But someone else later insisted it was $150 per pet and said that's what's on the website, which wasn't very clear when I booked. The inconsistency was frustrating and honestly made me feel like no one really knew the policy. Marriott is still my go-to, but I wont choose this location again.
Was a convenient place to stay near the beach and Fashion Island. Clean and friendly staff. I liked the spacious rooms. It's a small resort style hotel. Very good value for what you get. Would recommend and stay at again!
Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the attentive staff, spacious rooms, and convenient location. Breakfast and the M Club lounge also receive praise.

I recently stayed at your property on 08/19/22 to 08/21/22. I woke up with bed bug bites on my stomach. I immediately contacted guest services to report this issue. I also advise that I wanted my room be cleaned the day prior and was ignored. Additionally there was dirty towels and dishes in the hallway by other guests whose rooms were not cleaned. My concerns were not uplifted or treated with a sense of urgency. I was offered free parking. But, I was not offered any compensation for this negative experience. Here are pictures as proof of my negative experience at your property. I look forward to you contacting me with a resolution for this matter. Sent from my iPhone read more
I'm not sure how there could be any bad reviews. 6 of us stayed here before we went to Mexico and we had an incredible time. Our rooms were spotless. We got the suite that had a living room, massive bathroom, and massive 2 bedroom area overlooking all of Costa Mesa. The staff was incredibly kind and we had a very positive experience. We liked the proximity to South Coast Plaza (you could walk) as well as only 15 minutes from Disneyland so we did both. Explored Costa Mesa one day then went to Disney the next. We will for sure be back (we live in Fresno) and highly recommend the Costa Mesa Marriott! read more

Everything was on point! Loved our room!! We are fans of rooms with a separate work area. The layout was amazing cause you can get to the bathroom from both the living room and the bedroom! Our view was literally the best part!!! read more

A few years back, I lived at the CostaMesa Marriott. I used to love them. Their customer service was excellent, NOT ANYMORE! I felt so victimized a couple of weeks ago, there after dealing with the front desk I was on the verge of a breakdown. They told me I had a bad credit card and I was trying to fraud the Marriott!! They did this loudly in front of the rest of the customers. And then he pointed at the door and told me to get out screamed at me with his face right up to mine to get out of the hotel!!! To say the least I was shaken. Hands shaking I called my bank tears in my eyes because I was so looking forward to this. I call my bank and their shocked why would those people accuse me of having a fraud card? They asked me why.????? I still don't know. The bank assured them that my card was mine. Did I get an apology? Absolutely not.!!!! they could have compensated me very VERY EASILLY I told them what I wanted. I wanted a room facing the water.. instead they lied to me and told me that the hotel was full. I lived there. I know what the parking lot looks like when they're reaching their full capacity The hotel was not full not even close! They looked at my face with black mascara streaming down it told me the hotel was full, and then I could not have a room facing the water. I went upstairs to my room crying. I really l used to enjoy this hotel with all my heart!!! IT WAS a favorite I was so looking forward to this trip to the CostaMesa South Coast, Metro Marriott. later that evening, I took a walk around the lake I looked up at the room facing the water I lost count after counting 20 ROOMS! they had MORE THAN 20 dark, unused rooms, facing the water!!!! I know iwhat that hotel looks like in the parking lot when they're reaching their full capacity. The parking lot was empty because the hotel was practically empty. It was a weekday, and I could predict, expect that the weekends are going to look like that as well with the way the front desk abused me! It is really a shame.. I would not recommend this hotel unless you are a masochist and you enjoy being humiliated judged and screamed at, forced out read more

I've stayed at this property at least five different times with my husband. The location is convenient and we love the romantic appearance of the separate rooms and the French doors. This stay was my first experience using the gym. It was very nice with what appeared to be top-of-the-line equipment. The water fountain and cool towels in the refrigerator were a nice touch. In the past I probably would have rated the hotel as a four. Today I'm having to go with a three. The room service experience was pretty terrible. The breakfast menu is extremely lean. There isn't even a simple bacon and eggs option. There are two skillets available. My husband decided on the Chorizo skillet with NO Cheddar. The food comes and it's loaded with cheese. He could see this after he stuck his fork in it. I called down and mentioned that the "skillet" (this was actually an omelet with potatoes in the side) had tons of cheese. She said, "I told them no cheese." Then she said she'd, "call me back". The next thing was a phone call but it was from the front desk saying that the delivery was at my door but I wasn't answering. Okay. I was waiting for a call and this is some super light knocking. The girl comes in and hands my husband the replacement food. She doesn't take the first order for verification. Husband is hungry and is ready to dig in. This time there is no chorizo. This is straight up an onion omelet. I literally searched in his omelet to try to find some meat particles. I opened the first omelet to see what was going on inside. There was a small pouch of meat in a controlled area at the end of the omelet. This is no way to make a Chorizo Skillet. They should change the menu to read Onion and Cheddar omelet, no substitutions. This is truly annoying with no other options close by. Anyway. They comped the meal but it truly should have been. This was not what was ordered or advertised. read more

I visited Socal to see family for my birthday and stayed this hotel for 3 nights. After we checked in, there was no bar soap for hand sink. Called front desk and asked for bar soap, his response was "we don't have bar sopa, we have liquid soap only" I am like.. um.. never seen that before but ...oh.ok And also asked him see if they can bring microwave to room... of course he said "NOP" Next day on the way back to room, stopped by front desk and asked for bottle water, he asked for my name without any explanation, I am like why?? I told him my name then he said "you are only silver status so I can give you free water, you have to buy them" Wow ... oh ok. I felt some discrimination there. I asked for extra liquid soap and he went to back room grabbed me 2 shampoo, I told him this is not a soap, you gave me shampoo... Guess what he said? Shampoo is kind of soap. And he walked away.OMG I asked other person for soap, he gave me BAR SOAP!!! He also told me there is microwave on 4th floor which they should of offer me when I asked for microwave. There customer service is worst I ever experienced. And I found hair brush on the floor in my suit room, hair every where and ANTS. I strongly NO recommend this hotel. They also charge $30 per night for parking. read more

Don't even think twice about staying here. Last night my bathroom was flooded due to a leaky faucet. I was asked if I wanted more towels. I had to push to move rooms. No help in moving belongings. I woke up at 6 am today with noise from construction across the street. Had to move rooms again today with again no assistance. I really wish I could just check out. Posting pictures of the leak in the bathroom. Very poor customer service here. Westin South Coast Plaza and Avenue of the Arts are way better options in the area read more

So disappointed. I understand that things happen, which are unfortunate, but it is the way the staff responds that really matters. In the morning I turned on the faucet of the tub and disgusting brown water came rushing out. It went on for minutes, so clearly I had to skip a shower. I shared the incident with the front desk as I checked out and the video I took. While there was an apology offered, the front desk staff didn't seem surprised it happened. He didn't offer to comp the room, even though I couldn't shower but said he would issue me Marriott points as an apology. Two weeks later, no points. I called the manager and she couldn't be bothered to return my call. read more
We had a decent one night stay at Costa Mesa Marriott. Location is very good as it is located a very short drive from South Coast Plaza and walking distance from the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The check-in experience was pleasant and quick as I had already checked in via the Marriott app... I was able to check-in a little early as well which was good. Our room was spacious but it was a bit outdated. The furniture and decor definitely need updating soon. The 1BR suite was nice as it has french doors leading to the small bedroom. It has a living area, a desk and a wet bar area. There is of course, a standard mini-fridge and coffee maker. The restroom was ok. It had a tub/shower combo with a marble counter with a single sink. The bed was comfortable but it was a little squeaky. There was an iHome alarm clock so that was at least modern. Everything else in the room was outdated. We were on a high floor as I requested so there was a view of the parking structure and Anton Blvd from the living room and the small balcony in the bedroom. I didnt like the outdated nature of the furnishings and carpet in the room. I didnt like the toiletries in the bathroom either. They werent your typical Marriott provided brands. They were so fragrant that I could not use them due to their strong scents. Another gripe I had was the $27 self-parking fee. That is the only option. There is no street parking nearby. If I was gonna pay that much, I would expect it to be valet parking at least. And the parking structure was packed Saturday night when we got back from dinner. We had to park on the roof and that left our SUV baking in the unusually warm Orange County heat the next day by the time we checked-out. The complimentary breakfast wasnt bad. There was your typical bagels, eggs & sausage but there was also an omelette station that cooked to order. I got a ham omelette sans the cheese and it was good. You serve yourself but you do get waiter service for your drinks. You may wanna have some change handy for tip. Service was just ok. They werent that attentive IMO. It could have been better. So overall an OK stay. I cant give it more than 3 stars as supplied by the examples above. Maybe you will have a better experience. read more

I'm a boujee bi!$ch when it comes to hotels! I was really surprised how much I liked this hotel. I wanted something walking distance to south coast plaza and the closest hotel Westin got horrible reviews. I saw that this hotel recently completed a renovation so thought it was a good option. Well it was! The hotel inside is beautiful remodeled. Very clean and very modern! I was upgraded to the elite floor. The room had a beautiful view of the pool and lake. What I loved most about the room was it was very spacious and it was a suite. The first part of the room there is a fridge coffee maker area tv desk and couch! The second part of the room is the king bedroom with its own tv! It's separated by a door which is awesome if you have kids! There is even a separate door to the bathroom from the living area! I was able to go to bed early while my kids were in the living room watching tv and they slept on the sofa bed. Its the perfect sleeping situation for families! Parking was self only no valet option. There is a Starbucks right around the corner, a mastros steak house 5 min walk and the south coast plaza was a 10 min walk. Very easy! We walked to capital grille for dinner and the walk back was so nice after a filling dinner! The only breakfast option was a grab and in the lobby bar area. I had a breakfast credit and was able to get a lot of food for me and the kids. Coffee, orange and apple juice, muffins, croissants, yogurt and hot breakfast sandwiches! Staff was all really friendly and we actually didn't run into anyone during our stay! It was quiet and the beds were comfortable. I would totally stay here again! read more
