    Emerald Bay Conference room. 2/2/2026
    Sandra L.

I have been to this Hilton hotel numerous times for conferences. They provide breakfast and lunch and the food is okay. The conference rooms are clean and well stocked with water. The parking can be a nightmare and they often run out and you'll need to park in the adjacent parking structure, which sucks because you never know if your conference will cover the cost. Other than the parking being an issue, I'd say this is a pretty nice venue if you are attending a conference.

This review is specifically for the hotel bar for happy hour. We successfully hosted a conference at this hotel and we wanted to celebrate afterwards. Our server was very helpful and friendly. They had your classic happy hour menu items, and we opted for the potstickers, sweet chili sauce chicken wings, and large pretzel. Our group had the white and red house wine and beers. Everything was pretty good and we had a wonderful time celebrating the completion of the Conference.

I stayed here for my birthday weekend and was really looking forward to it. The first night started off great--comfortable bed and delicious short ribs with mashed potatoes and chocolate mousse. But shortly after dinner, I got extremely sick with what seemed like food poisoning and was bedridden for two days. I let the staff know I was ill and couldn't eat the breakfast I ordered. I was told a manager would follow up, but no one ever did. I'm now on my last night, still in pain, and I'm extremely upset and disappointed. What was supposed to be a special weekend turned into a miserable experience, and the lack of care or follow-through from the hotel made it even worse. I couldn't even enjoy my stay.

Incredibly dark. Saving money keeping the lights off

Wow I got completely fooled by the photos. I don't know where to start as I am currently still staying here. There was no valet attendant and they are charging $45 to self park and $60 to valet overnight. The lobby is so dark you can barely see. They had one person working the front desk so the line was long and slow. Once I got in the room I was greeted to hair all over the shower curtain, a light that turns itself on and off, and incredibly thin sheets. I decided to check out the jacuzzi on floor two which is actually freezing. I learned the hard way. There are no towels near the jacuzzi, you have to go to the pool to grab them. Lastly I came to the bar for a bite and a beer and to do some work. The bartender has no personality, forgot my salad, brought the wrong dressing, forgot to give me silverware. Once the pizza came it has old chewy overcooked mushrooms basically inedible. The hotel is incredibly outdated and empty as can be. Such a waste of money super disappointed I will say the bartender/server was kind just poorly trained. There is no sense of passion it's lifeless here

Attended a CTA training here this weekend and we stayed here. The hotel is very beautiful on the inside. Our room was nice the bed was comfortable and the pillows were gel memory material which was nice. They use Crabtree shower products which was a nice touch it smelled so good. The ONLY downsides were that upon arrival we couldn't find a bell service person to help us, they did not offer free handicap valet like other hotels AND... one of our lamps did not work. That is why I took one Star away. Honestly it should be 2 but the delicious food made up for it.

    The beds

The room was clean. The entrance was clean. The furniture downstairs was clean. The housekeeping was friendly NOT aggressive trying to get you to leave as soon as possible like other locations. The room was relatively quiet and I was able to get everything I needed (food, beverages, and toiletries ) within a walking distance. This location is perfect for business associates because it has a starbucks as well as a many conferences rooms to use. There are also multi purpose rooms that are big enough to hold an event such as baby showers, weddings, etc. This place is good for business associates, and maybe couples but for families it is not the best. As there is nothing here specifically for kids. So I would not consider this on the level off a resort but it does have adequate amenities. David, Greg, and Juan well exceptionally helpful. What I did not like: The valet members, and the front desk right when you walk in (it is like a help desk on the left hand side of the door across from Starbucks, NOT CHECK IN) because they were very rude. I had all of my bags and they were trying to insinuate that I was a door dasher or something. And didn't greet me or say hello or anything like that. I get maybe I was not wearing a suit and tie but why would a door dasher walk in with a duffle bag/laptop bag combo. Clearly, I am a guest and would like to be treated as such. Also, what valet doesn't greet the people walking into the hotel??? That is rude. You are the first point of contact for every individual that arrives. Whether they plan to use your service or not. Do not just stare at people and don't say anything, you work in hospitality.

Awesome customer service provided by Amy at the front desk! She made everything smooth and easy to check in. Thanks, Amy!

Stayed here for a few days while attending a family friend wedding and it was a pretty good experience. We had two adjoining rooms and they had a Starbucks, a store, a restaurant and south coast plaza nearby. pretty much all you needed was available or close by. Took off one star because the hotel could use a remodel. It looks old and a bit dark and the noise levels were a bit high between rooms and hallways. Would I come back? Yes I still would.

When arriving on a wedding day, knowing that valet, front desk, and event coordination are organized and communicative makes a meaningful difference in how smoothly the day unfolds. The property itself photographs beautifully in every season. The modern architecture, warm interior tones, and the lakeside setting create a variety of backdrops without ever needing to leave the hotel grounds. The lobby offers clean, contemporary lines, while the exterior lake area provides a softer, romantic setting -- especially during golden hour. Another benefit is its proximity to Celebrations by Turnip Rose, which makes transitions between hotel, ceremony, and reception seamless for couples and vendors alike. From a vendor perspective, professionalism and consistency matter -- and that has been my experience each time I've worked here. For context, my team and I have documented multiple weddings at this property through our studio, Prince Weddings (PrinceWeddings.net), and the coordination between hotel staff and creative teams has always contributed to a smooth event day. This review reflects my personal experience working at the property over multiple events and is intended to be helpful to couples and families researching venues in Costa Mesa and greater Orange County.

Parking was limited as such is the venue but it makes sense as it was an intimate gathering for close friends. After checking in, we were enjoying Furiwa catering out in the courtyard. Allow me to set the scene, vintage glass lights crisscrossed the horizon, surrounded by modern wooden fence and lush green lawn. Makes for a scenic backdrop for memorable pictures. Now on to the food, furiwa's fried shu mai is the most SCRUMPTIOUS food you will ever taste! It was crunchy, rich in umami flavor in the center, with a kick of spice before BLOSSOMING into a subtle, delicate sweet aftertaste. If Willy Wonka made Dim Sun, this ever changing Shu Mai would be it! 100 Willy Wonkas out of 10 rating. The egg roll was also good but not as great. 3/5 stars even though it made for a very nice picture! The inside of fete was like a warehouse which is so cool for wedding reception these days. Fete being French for a great celebration or feast is appropriately named as the venue provided for a nice, intimate, but wild atmosphere. The bar in the back is permanent and provided lots of drinks such as midori sour, old fashioned, cranberry/pineapple vodka, Cuba libre. All in all, 5/5 stars for this venue!

In this economy though, Gremlin Garage is an OC coffee shop that's well worth the $8 charge for a specialty latte for a few reasons: 1. The ambiance is excellent. You can tell someone put a lot of thought and care into curating the pieces in here. It's like a coffee shop that is lightly themed like an auto shop? Given its proximity to the auto shops nearby, this makes perfect sense and adds just a little bit of whimsy to the coffee experience. There's also plenty of seating for lounging, working, whatever. It's a great space. 2. The service was excellent. The cashier took the time to walk me through the menu when I told her it was my first time and even offered my doggy a pup cup with a little treat in it. So sweet! I love kind humans. 3. The coffee is so good and these flavors are unique, which is genuinely hard to achieve in a coffee saturated city like Costa Mesa. One of their signatures is a burnt honey latte. I ordered this and found myself having to physically stop myself from chugging it. It was that good. My husband got the caramel banana. I know banana is pretty standard these days but the addition of the caramel just elevated it a bit. He's not really a fancy coffee person and he loved this one. 4. Dog friendly! My pup enjoyed getting to come with us and enjoy her pup cup and the staff loved her. For me, this is a mark of a truly dog friendly spot, versus just dog tolerant. My only nit (and I'm sure they're well aware of this) but parking SUCKS. There's like 4 spots and on a crowded weekend even the street parking fills us. That's why we arrived as early to opening as possible but when we came by a few weekends before we just had to drive away because we couldn't find a spot. It would be great to procure a few more spots.
