My husband and I are in our mid 80's and we walk the mall every day and stop to chat with the staff. There is one Security Person (Mark) I don't know his last name, but he went way above and beyond his official capacity. I had fallen a week ago and was walking on a cane. He saw me sitting on the bench waiting for my husband to get the car and pick me up. He took a minute from his job to help me to the car and be sure I was buckled in. We were parked right outside the center court entrance. That act of kindness meant so much to me and I will never to be able to thank him enough. Tappers is extremely fortunate to have security personnel like Mark.

Considering it's difficult to find an oval rose cut diamond, I was very happy with the final cost coming out much lower than expected compared to online prices of similar rings. When she eventually kills me and collects the insurance money I'm sure she will return to design a nice necklace.

We…read morewent to Brilliant Earth, in Birmingham, which had a lot of nice rings; however, when I emailed them follow-up questions, they didn't respond for over a week (apparently my email ended up in the sales lady's spam inbox ...). During that time, I found Metals in Time online, and stopped by the showroom. I worked with Emma to choose a ring for myself and also a middle stone. Sergio, the owner, was very helpful as well, and had me try on multiple rings. The one I liked was shaped differently then I preferred, so he customized the ring for me. For a 1-kt. (lab diamond) ring plus the matching wedding band, he offered us a very reasonable price. We liked Metals in Time so much that we had my fiance's custom wedding ring designed there too. He thought he wanted white gold, until he tried on a platinum ring and preferred the heaviness of that one more. He wanted a ring with lab diamonds and lab emeralds, and he brought Sergio a picture of a similar one online he liked. Sergio was able to design it to his specifications, and gave me a pretty good price on it, as well; I know platinum rings can sometimes be expensive. The best part is that Metals in Time is always reachable via text - we go in every six months to get our rings cleaned, as part of their warranty (the smaller stones are under warranty, as long as you stop by every six months), and I always text beforehand to ensure that the store will be open. Highly recommend this store if you are looking to purchase engagement or wedding jewelry. They also have a nice selection of watches and other jewelry, I've noticed.

In short, everything was basically immaculate and while Shinola is extremely pricey, they really deliver on the level of quality and service that makes it worth it! Hotel: Everything about it is delightful. Probably the biggest selling point to me is the fact that Shinola is dog-friendly! They are so welcoming to dogs - they have a terrace in the middle of the hotel where you can take the dogs out rather than having to navigate all the way back down to the street level! My main frustration with the hotel was the check-in process. I was hoping for early check in, which they were really good at communicating with me wasn't going to be a guarantee. So the day I was coming in, early check in sadly didn't work out, but regular check in was at 3 pm and so when I showed up at 3 pm on the dot and a room still wasn't available for me to check in to. They said that one should be ready in 15-20 minutes and so I went to park my car in a nearby parking lot (you can do valet or find your own parking, the price is comparable). When I came back almost 30 minutes later, the room still wasn't available. At this point, I think there was a bit of miscommunication because while I would have preferred a room on the floor with the pet terrace, in the interest of time (I had a wedding to get ready for!) I just needed an available room regardless of which floor, so the front desk was able to get me checked into a different room and we were on our way. Again, such lovely customer service because all the front desk attendants remembered me and my dogs and would follow up throughout the stay! Shinola has 24/7 room service, which is lovely to see. The food isn't the same kitchen at the San Morello restaurant at the base of the hotel, but it's still very tasty! They also offer late check out if you need it. The rooms themselves are amazing, with high quality bedding, linens, everything! Everything is beautifully designed and dreamy! Truly just like how I would imagine Shinola to stage a home! As for the event space, my goodness JUST as delightful! It's a bit of a maze to get from the hotel lobby to the event space, but doable! There is also a separate entrance to just the event space itself. The glasshouse is beautiful and such a dream wedding venue! Again, all those working the event were so friendly and kind, great bartenders, AMAZING food at the wedding, such comfortable seats and other amenities that just really set this apart from other wedding venues. I know it must be so expensive to get married here, but you definitely see the difference in the quality! The two big observations that took away a slight bit from the overall experience were: 1) The glasshouse event space is so stunning and filled with greenery, but the hanging plants in the air were very obviously fake, which was a bit mystifying. Would really love to see real plants in these and more diversity in their plant selection as most of theirs were relatively basic! 2) This one is the big doozy, but the day I was at Shinola was a very humid, muggy day in Detroit. There were some sprinkles throughout the afternoon and evening, but never enough to break the humidity. What's surprising to me is how humid it felt throughout the entire Shinola building. Not just in the glasshouse event space, which is to be expected given that it almost mimics a greenhouse, but truly everywhere else. On my hotel floor as I walked through the hallways, it would be so hot and muggy. It was to a point where I wonder if the hotel did not have central air or good enough insulation. Thankfully my hotel room had great A/C, but there was such a shocking difference between inside my hotel room and out in the hallway on several of the floors that I went to that it was truly significant enough to note here! But overall, I absolutely loved my little staycation in Detroit at Shinola. I was so grateful I got to do this stay with my dogs AND celebrate my friends getting married! If you're looking to treat yourself, look no further than a stay at Shinola! It was a dream and while my bank account will be recovering from it for some time, I hope to be back sometime in the future to stay here again!

When we picked up that watch the crown was attached, but the winding movement was notchy. So we took it back to remedy the problem. Two weeks later, when we were able to pick up the watch, we found that the crown still had that sloppy and notchy winding movement. The second watch was a Rolex that stopped self winding. Got the estimate back that it'll be $800 to fix. We bit the bullet and went through with it. When it came time to pick it up, they had polished the sh!t out of the watch. I asked them to remove the polish and make it look like my old watch. Next day picked up the watch and it looked good again. The watch now is back to self winding, but it runs fast. Jeeze. Forget it. Both watches not fixed correctly, cost $890, had to go to the shop at least 4 times.
