I used to know people who lived near here so I would often call in to pick up a bite to eat after or before playing football in Ballyholme park with my friends in the long summer evenings. There is a lovely, local, home baked feeling about this place and the sausage rolls are to die for. Also, there is excellent pastries and cakes and the like on offer. You can get cakes and stuff made to order for parties and events, which is a good wee service. The staff are lovely as well, really welcoming and polite.

I still frequent the Sheridan, it is one of the only places you can go in and still have a chat without feeling pressured to leave. The staff are amazing, they recently made a picture cake to perfection for my sisters birthday, but they did display it in the window which ruined the surprise. I suppose they were just keen to show off their work and why shouldn't they be. You can mould your diet around the Sheridan, toasted Crusty Bap for Breakfast, Sausage roll for lunch and Mince pie for dinner. Oh and if you want to get one of your 5 a day, I recommend an apple turnover. This will all cost you under £5 so you do not really have a reason not to do it.

The standards here never slip, from my experience, and prices are great too! You really can't go wrong here and the staff are always pleasant and greet you with a big smile!

Their main work is with wedding cakes and speciality cakes, but they also rent out chocolate fountains! They are very amiable to any suggestions and will make a cake of literally anything you want .An example of this was when for my 18th birthday I received a cake that was the spitting image of Bender of Futurama!It was amazing in both looks and take, a wonderfully light sponge with jam and delicious cream in the middle..... it was the one occasion where I was enthusiastic about biting his shiny metal ass! These cakes do not come cheap, but you are really getting what you pay for. The cakes are beautifully made, taste amazing and are usually one of a kind! If you want something special to act as a birthday centre piece, look no further! Hopefully I won't have to comment on the quality of their wedding cakes for a good few years yet!

There is plenty on offer for a wee cuppa or to head in and get a quick bite to eat for lunch of afternoon tea. The stuff is very nice but is pretty expensive, you will certainly be left reeling by some of the prices but its all home made and is lovely quality and always very tasty. I would definitely recommend the Ulster Fry as long as you don'y mind the staff being a bit weird with you. Its right in the centre of town so parking can be tough at busy times but you can always park round behind ASDA or down at the marina and just dander here.

In a prime location, this has to be the town's most innovative bakery- selling a variety of breads including Guinness wheaten and Mediterranean loaves. There is also a wide range of (rather unusual) scones to buy, with everything from your ordinary fruit scone, to flavours such as Cadbury's crunchie and raspberry ripple. I am personally a big fan of the Snickers- flavoured scone, as the chocolate and caramel just melt in your mouth. Shaw's also makes a real effort to follow baking trends, creating an array of delicious delights such as cupcakes and whoopee pies. The bakery also provides a daily supply of 'Paddy's pizzas' (a famous Northern Irish snack consisting of soda bread with a pizza topping) along with sausage rolls and other pastries. At lunchtime, Shaw's sells an assortment of sandwiches and you can also buy a meal deal (consisting of a sandwich, cookie and drink) for less than £3.
