Since we could not open the window....it was like being stuffed in a box. We asked for a fan at the desk three times without word or results. Finally, at 10 pm, my husband went down to the desk to ask that they do something or we were going out to the car to sleep. Other people had their window open (you could see if from the outside), but ours had a child-proof metal guide that blocked it. The wallpaper was peeling all over and the carpet had holes. I would not recommend or stay here again.

Big disappointment that the main restaurant was shut as previously the meals me had experienced there were good. We had to eat in the Bar with a very limited menu. Not great. The room (1st Floor) was ok - nothing special but looked as though it had recently been upgraded. Unfortunately, our neighbours were not early bedders and didn't understand how to be quiet. By their accents, they were regular drinkers. Had to go to reception at 0330hrs to request a member of staff to attend to the neighbours - and on arrival at Receptgion, a fight was just startin g, I guess this was not part of the Hotels' Entertainment Programme! A bottle of Buckfast was in evidence so make uo your own mind as to the age profile. Allegedly some of the locals hire a room and divvie up the cost then have a party! So the taxi driver told us. So, beware!!!

Drinks were reasonably priced and the hotel provided a buffet. However, the service could have been better. Quite often, I went to the bar for a drink only to find it deserted. One time this happened only for me to walk into the foyer to see the barmaid chatting away to her co workers. This was slightly annoying as we were told we could not buy a drink from the restaurant and bring it through to the function room.

Based in a rather awkward spot on the boulevard leading into Hardgate, it is a shame this is the case as it is a much nicer hotel than others in the area.
The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel

I would be giving it a solid four stars for all of that, and possibly 5. The primary problem is the bathrooms (we've been in two separate rooms with the same issues). There is black mold and mildew on the tile grout. And paint is peeling on the wood surfaces. They need a good remodel/refurbishment. Another issue is general maintenance and repair. We were moved from one room because the tub drain plug would not withdraw. In the next room, the pocket door to the toilet kept coming off the runner or would not slide fully into the pocket. The casement latches on the windows needed repair. And the hinges on the dresser needed tightening. We would stay here again in a second. But I do hope that some money can be invested to fix the physical issues and make this a truly awesome place.
The Beardmore Hotel, for all it's an average chain hotel - is in the SAME BUILDING as the hospital…read more It shares the entrance - upon arrival it's unclear whether you are checking into a hotel or booking in to the hospital. In fact, our room overlooked a hospital ward where I could see the beds, screens, pulleys and medical staff wandering around. The room itself is standard chain hotel fare - nothing to write home about. The minibar/fridge setup as mentioned in other reviews is a bit bizarre. The bathroom was pretty nice, very powerful shower. I got a special rate on the room as I was with a large group, however standard rates, for Clydebank - not value for money. Clydebank is a bit of a hole - stay in Glasgow city centre if that's where you are headed. Night time taxis from city to Clydebank will set you back 20-30 GBP, so spend the money on a nicer hotel in the city where you won't be sharing square footage with hospital patients. PS. The grounds are completely non-smoking, according to the signage around the hotel

Rooms look to have been recently modernised and are clean and orderly with flat screen TV's. Staff are efficient and helpful. I entertained two local friends for dinner, - they hadn't been in for a while and were really very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dinner we had. In particular, the Rump of Lamb was well executed. A nice Australian Shiraz helped it down. A good nights sleep but it would probably be better to ask for a room on the opposite side to the main road. Breakfast was a bit disappointing - as is usully the case with hot buffets, you get some items hot and some cold ! The scrambled egg was a gelatinous mass. If you wanted a fried one you had to wait. Coffee was also pretty lousy to my taste, and those pats of butter wrapped in a 'parcel', surely it wouldn't cost extra to have the 'pull off top' type . I have given four stars, but probably 3 and a half is nearer the mark because of the poor breakfast.
