I needed to write this review to help support my community from doctors who do not have their best interest in mind. If you go to this location please always get a second opinion. About 1 yrs ago I went to this location to get my teeth checked out. Specifically one tooth that was given a root canal (prior) and not finished because I financially could not afford it. They did X-rays at this location and said my tooth can get infected so it needs to go. The doctor convinced me that there was nothing that could be done except extract the whole tooth. I said " I saw that Medicaid would help cover an implant ?" and he gently advised me against it because it would be "too much paperwork for him and if he makes one mistake they won't accept it ." No trying no nothing --clearly he wanted me in and out and because I had Medicaid at the time he only offered me to remove it fully. He referred me to go to some doctor in Staten Island to get it removed. My tooth was not in pain but after that appointment my tooth began to feel pain. (I found out on my own that food would get stuck in my tooth and I need to make sure nothing would get caught again-easy fix oil pulling and 2 days later I was fine )So I looked into the doctor he sent me and was horrified to see he had a 2 star rating and butchered many people. Again I took it with a grain of salt and trusted his opinion because he is the dentist right? I never went to get it extracted. I decided that I was not in pain but I did need to see another dentists. I finally got an appointment with another dentist. He looked at my X-rays and said I was fine. We can make sure nothing is infected on the inside of my tooth and put a crown on it. He cleaned the tooth, no infection and we are able to put a crown on it. He did not try to manipulate me into getting it removed, he gave me options and walked me through the whole process. I was not just a toy to play with but an actual human being. Moving forward do your own due diligence with this location and make sure to always remember that just because it's easy for them it does not mean it will be right or easy for you. I have been going to cosmopolitan dentist for a couple of years and I mostly go for cleanings and once I had a tooth extraction and an emergency it was cracked and beyond saving. Today I went for a root canal and this was my first time ever having one! I was so nervous I was nearly crying because I didn't know what to expect. The dental nurse was amazing she is so sweet and experienced. Dr lawrence did the procedure and he made me feel at ease throughout the whole time asking me how I felt and explaining everything so I knew exactly what was going to happen and when. He has a very calm presence. He is full of smiles and you feel like he really cares about you. The front desk staff is absolutely phenomenal they are so friendly and helpful. I contacted this office to inquire about making an appointment, but I was informed that they are not accepting new patients with Aetna PPO, Humana, or Medicaid plans. This is the best dentist in Brooklyn! Dr Levinsky knows his stuff! I moved out of Brooklyn and one of the people I miss in my life is Dr Levinsky. Our medical people are so important to us and a good dentist is essential. I'm at a dental loss here in South Carolina. No issue ever went unsolved with my very many oral problems with Dr L but here I'm never confident. I'm thinking of coming back to Brooklyn periodically to have all my new problems fixed !!!! They just want to suck your wallet. I went to this place few years ago for consultation. They asked me to pay 40$cash just to take an xray and they dont accept card payments because they don't want to report income to IRS. I know my insurance covers everything so I went to another dentist in Manhattan and they didn't charge me for xray and the procedures. read more

TRULY UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT!!! After writing my first review of my encounter with this dental office I was contacted by a female employee in a nasty tone that what I wrote is a "lie" because I never showed up to the appointment (so they acknowledged I had an appointment but claim I never showed ok) and that the review is "libel". I'll start over I had an appointment for a root canal on 09/10/2022 at 9am when I arrive I was not told anything they bring me to the chair sit me down begin to prep me and all of a sudden the dentist walks in and states "your approval never came back it takes 2 weeks (mind you they sent for this approval 08/27/2022) the doctor says yea it's been 2 weeks but we don't know why it didn't come back so this isn't covered and it's going to be 1,000 dollars because it's a "special molar". I have Cigna dental a ppo plan through my union, I immediately called them and the reps said no that's a lie cause no approval is needed for your plan and she never heard of a 2 week wait period for referrals. I immediately got up and left because they tried to scam me. Fast forward to today 10/04/2022 that I received this phone again very nasty to state that I lied her records show I never showed up, WHO IN THE GOOD LORDS NAME HAS NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THEMSELVES THAN TO MAKE UP A STORY LIKE THIS, SERIOSULY WHO AM I THE STEVEN SPIELBERG OF YELP REVIEWS? THE ABSOLUTE NERVE OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO SAY I LIED, MIND YOU IM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAD A SIMILAR ENCOUNTER. Stay away from this place. They tried to charge me $1,400 for a porcelain crown instead of billing my secondary insurance who would have paid them $325 and a $150 copay from me. Update- i went to a different dentist and my primary and secondary insurance paid for not 1 but 3 crowns. Out of pocket cost $0. Anyway, that being said: Dr. Levinsky saved a few of my teeth on more than one occasion. I have been going to him for 9 years now. My husband's union changed the dental coverage and I had to go elsewhere ONCE and they completely destroyed one of my teeth with a filling. I called Dr. Levinsky and spoke to Priscilla and found out that Dr. Levinsky got our union coverage back in network and I went running in. Dr. Levinsky saved the tooth that was messed up by the other dentist. I love the staff and as someone who used to have severe anxiety when dealing with dentists, I can relax when I go for my appointments here. read more

Extremely rude front desk. After finishing root canal at another doctor's office I was told I have to go see my primary dentist and get a permanent filling. The dentist I used to go to has permanently closed their office due to COVID-19 so I picked Cosmopolitan Dental as my primary dentist office. Before making any appointments I called to ask if they do permanent filling and they said yes. So I made an appointment. The next available date they gave me was two weeks from the day I called. The day before the appointment I called them again to confirm and they told me THERE WAS NO APPOINTMENT for my name!!!!! And when I started asking them questions why there was no appointment for me they made it look like it's my fault!!!! Are you kidding me?! Why would I wait for two weeks if I never called you?!?! The woman I was talking to over the phone didn't even apologize!! She also didn't offer a new date for me or anything like this. A week after this incident I've decided to give them another chance and go to the office to make an appointment face to face. As I go in the office and ask for an appointment they tell me I CANNOT just go in the office and I have to call for an appointment (um yeah I've tried that and it didn't end well). Then they told me I have to go back to the doctor who did the root canal (don't you think I wouldn't be here if he could do a permanent filling?!). And the very last thing they told me was I quote: "permanent filling means crown and we don't do crowns" #$@!% I have no decent words to describe my anger!!! I've lost weeks and haven't got any service from them!!! I do not recommend this place!!! P.S. obviously I can't comment on the work of the doctor. But taking into account the fact that they have rude non-professional workers at the front desk I don't even what to know if the doctor is worth going there ever again. read more

About first week of January I called to schedule an cleaning and examination on the condition of my filings appointment. My dental insurance company website listed kings county as their location. I asked the woman making my February appointment is the location 451 clarkson on saturdays. She said YES. I got a confirmation text about a week before the appointment with no location just the time. I arrived at the 451 location to find no David no cosmopolitan dentist but an ER. Now I call the number and the receptionist doesn't try to reschedule me but simply says no we wouldn't give u that address. Did I pull that location out for my ass? I had been a patient here for quite sometime. Alot of time had elapsed, since I had been there. I had an issue with a veneer that came off. I called immediately, & an appt was made asap. Dr. Levinsky is a great dentist, quick wit, & has a great sense of humor. I was hesitant at first, but the kind staff I recalled, two were still there. Priscilla, very kind at the front. Raquel, a dental asst, was there. I felt at ease. Today, the tooth was set to be placed back on. I moved because my tooth is sensitive, but had to be drilled to remove old glue. Don't go there!!A dental nightmare on 86th st.I was there to fill a tooth(after 6 months the cement in that tooth fell down),and because i had pain in all the molars lower and upper on both sides of my mouth.The dentist was Kale,he made the x-rays and he said to me that i need 2 root canals because i had 2 cavities in 2 molars in the lower right side.I asked to him:can you show to me the cavities on the x-rays please?He answered:no,you can't see them because they are too deep.I said:so how do you know that i have 2 cavities if you are unable to see them?!?!He continued to lie and say that i need 2 root canals.I have the copies of the x-rays and the next dentist who have seen me said that i don't any cavities in the two molars!!For all the time i was there he continued to repeat to me that i need 2 root canals!He was determined to make root canals in my mouth so when he filled the tooth in the other side (in that tooth there was no cavity,this is what he said and is shown also on the x-rays).So he dug,dug and dug i started to feel a pain intermittent in the tooth with all the anesthetic!I asked to him the reason of the pain and he lied one more time;he said that were the gums,instead he killed the tooth!!After he killed the tooth he said:you need a root canal in this tooth(of course,he killed it),SO YOU GO IN THIS DENTAL CENTER WITH GOOD TEETH AND GO BACK AT HOME WITH DEAD TEETH!!!!!!!I never did any root canal there .A different dentist who have seen me after said:he killed the tooth and filled it in a wrong way too,he left material between my teeth;he said he was not good.After 1 month i was there to complain because the pain was huge in the tooth killed.The secretary answered:and you come here after one month?I explained that because he lied to me i thought it was a pain in the gum and that the other dentists give to their customers a 6 months warranty on the teeth!The dentist Levinsky was in the other room but he never come to me to apologize or to give any explanation ,totally careless!!Now if i ever believed in what they said to me now i was with 3 root canals in my mouth and them with several thousands of dollars more in their bank account!!!!!!!!!!I still have the teeth in my mouth,sane,alive,the 2 molars in the lower right side!!!!! read more

The office is clean and organized, the ladies at the front desk are friendly and efficient, and all of my appointments have been pain-free. My wife and I found this dental office online when we moved to Bay Ridge a couple of years ago. We only needed someone local for our regular checkups then and haven't needed any work until recent when it was an emergency. The receptionist was not only rude but completely unhelpful and unable to see me within a week's time. They've always been amateur (even just with cleanings) - awkward conversation/offensive, the dentist's aggressive handling the teeth pick might as well be a meat clever, and oversight of cracks in fillings/sensitivity to temperature. One of the worst service providers I have ever seen. I called the secretary to schedule an appointment for preventive dental care during from 5/22/2012 to 5/27/2012 and I asked do you accept immediate transfer. The secretary answering the phone said yes and asked me to call delta-care and get the care transferred. I spend my 3 hours getting the care transferred on 5/22/2012. After that when I called her again to schedule an appointment she said its one and it is the time for her to leave. She asked me to call her again next morning.
