This pediatric dentist office is highly recommended. Their weekend appointment is booked until the next month. Weekday appointments aren't too bad and you are seen around your appointment time. I have seen the office allow walk-in depending on the case. The staff are all very professional and Dr Berni Tang is so endearing. She is so good with my 4 year old daughter. Her treatments are so fast and skillful. The office is very clean with cool toys in the waiting area and each examination room has a television that is mounted to the ceiling which can be pivoted into the child's point of view. It seems like the ability to sing a pre-requisite to being a pediatric dentist. Dr. Berni has a very sweet voice and can sing like Cinderella. Her "I love you" to my daughter is so genuine, I can almost believe it =)

He encourages and prefers that the child speak for him/herself since they are the only ones that can truly desribe what he/she feels and because he wants the CHILD to understand the importance of caring for their teeth. He treats each child with the utmost care and respect. I speak from experience as I was his patient myself as a child (after a fall down a flight of stairs I had extensive damage and after a traumatic ER experience he was the only one who gained my trust enough to let him near me) and he has also become my children's dentist. I live out of state and travel back to NY just to make sure my children continue under his care. That alone should tell you what kind of dentist he is. When my daughter had her fist cavity his concern was that he did not want her to become afraid of coming to the dentist. He suggested the use of an oral solution but made it clear that it was only because this was her fist cavity. He explained to her in detail every step of what he was doing and gave her a mirror so she could "follow along". He also told her that if at anytime she wanted him to stop she should raise the mirror and he would stop immediately. She tested this out a couple of times and he stuck to his word so the rest of the procedure went off without a hitch. The point is that I sat back (in the quiet chair) and allowed him to deal directly with her. He gained her trust and she never needed the drink or "gas" again. My son is terrifed of doctors but when I tell him it's time to go to "Dr. John" I never get any pushback.

I'm a pediatric medical professional and expressed my concern with the oral sedative because my patients have had adverse reactions to it. I said I'd like my daughter to get the local anesthetic without the sedation since she's fine with needles and he straight up told me to leave the office and come back when I'm ready to be a good parent. I don't know how this man stays in business treating patients and parents like this. I'm disgusted.

The hygienist was an angel. My son was very comfortable. They took x-rays. Immediately, the dentist was recommending extraction without going over the x-rays. She just loosely referenced the x-rays with a wave. The dentist was all business. In fact, she kept punching her fist into her palm, and bouncing around like a fighter ready to go. It was very off putting. She kept saying 2 minutes, two minutes, like....she was trying to get us out and the next one in . I was uncomfortable. But I agreed to an extraction. When they left, I studied the x-rays. Yes, some evidence. Deleterious? I would not say terribly. Looking back, antibiotics could be sufficient, at least to start. But this person was ready to go.... Ok, so let's try... You know what changed my mind? When my son was drowning in water because the sister of the dentist couldn't properly place the suction tube. When the sounds of waterboarding erupt from my son's mouth, and water splashes upward. Yeah...gonna call it quits right there. I literally shouted, please stop! And they tried to muscle through with the drowning of my son. And u know what the dentist says? "Why don't you breathe through your nose honey?". To a four year old. The place is a factory assemby line, a prison with peppa pig on the tv. I called it an auto body shop, but I regret that. I like auto technicians. Don't go. They will extract, collect the $, and send u on your way.
